There are at least 10 people involved in the incident in Finsbury Park, North London
London's Metropolitan Police said in a statement that "there are a number of casualties being worked on at the scene" of the apparent attack, which took place at Seven Sisters Road.
A white van ploughed into people outside the Muslim Welfare House, close to the Finsbury Park Mosque. The suspected attacker has been described as a white male, and is seen being arrested in an eyewitness video. Police did not immediately disclose his identity, only revealing that he is 48 years old.
Comment: London Metropolitan Police have confirmed the death of one man at the scene of the attack. Ten people injured in the attack have been transported to hospitals, and another two were provided medical assistance at the scene after suffering "minor injuries," the police said in a statement.
Updates: Videos from the aftermath available here. The driver of the van was taken to the hospital as a precaution, after which he will be taken into custody.
Eyewitness Abdulrahman Saleh Alamoudi, who got the suspect on the ground and held him, told BuzzFeed that the man "was screaming 'I'm gonna kill all Muslims.'"The witness also said the attacker said "kill me" as he was held to the ground.
Security minister Ben Wallace told Sky News:
"This man was not known to the authorities in the space of extremism or far right extremism and he clearly took advantage of a simple weapon, a vehicle, to make an attack on people going about their business."The attacker was filmed blowing a kiss and laughing moments after the attack. He was reportedly laughing as he was taken away by police.
The Metropolitan Police are treating the case as a terrorist attack.
Online, the gullible loser ISIS twitter brigade is using the attack to call on more gullible losers to "wake up" to "the war starting now in your own streets".
Update: The terrorist has been named as 47-year-old Darren Osborne, a father-of-four from Cardiff, Wales.

Flames and smoke coming from Grenfell Tower in west London after a fire broke out there on June 14, 2017.
The more than 500 people unaccounted from Grenfell Tower fire are dead, Nadia, whose family name was not given, told Press TV.
London Police Commander Stuart Cundy told reporters on Saturday that 58 people are feared dead in the fire.
According to reports, however, the building was home to about 600 people.
Nadia told Press TV's correspondent in London, Camilia Shambayati, that only 76 out of some 600 people who were living in the building where she grew up, had been accounted for and more than 500 residents were still missing.
Nadia has identified herself on social media as DJ Isla where she has a large following.
"Where are the missing people? Where is the list of the 500, 600 people living in that building," she asked.
"Where is everyone," she further asked, adding, "Little kids are asking: 'Where are my friends?'"
She insisted that the missing residents had all died and the UK media, particularly BBC, had censored the news.
"Everyone has died and no one is telling them," she said, adding that, "the news can't pick it up" referring to the alleged media blackout of the fatalities.

Earlier this month, Lyles, 30, called police because she feared her ex-boyfriend may try to harm her. Lyles, who reportedly suffers from mental health issues, was arrested during that call for allegedly arming herself with a pair of scissors. After the arrest, she was released under the condition that she get some help with her mental health issues.
On Sunday, Lyles called the police again — this time, to report an attempted burglary. The officers who responded to the mother's 911 call this time, however, were apparently less accommodating when it came to dealing with a mentally ill woman. When officers saw Lyles, armed with a knife, two of them opened fire and killed her.
Why Lyles had a knife is unclear. However, if she was suffering from delusions, she could have simply feared the police after they showed up. How or why police shot is still unclear, with the department only stating that officers were 'confronted' by a woman with a knife.
