The Brabant killers, a group reponsible for the attacks of supermarkets, restaurants, stores and weapon through Walloon Brabant depots between 1982 and 1985
A policeman's deathbed confession may have cracked the mystery of Belgium's 'Brabant Killers' who left 28 people dead in a spate of violent robberies in the 1980s.

Police have been working on a lead that could finally reveal the identities of the Nivelles Gang, who embarked on a three-year killing and robbery spree around Brabant in Brussels.

The group, which consisted of members nicknamed The Giant, The Killer and others, committed more than a dozen robberies in supermarkets and stores, which saw them shoot customers and staff, leaving many injured and traumatized.

The group's final robbery took place in 1985 when they killed eight people in a raid on a store after entering wearing disguises and face paint.

Comment: More on this case:
The Belgian Authorities, which are taking these revelations very seriously, consider that this former police officer of an elite squad (Diane), fits the police sketches at the time. Checks confirm that he was not physically present at work when many attacks took place. The Belgian Investigating Judge is interrogating all the former colleagues of the deceased suspect. The witness also revealed that two other former members of Squad Diane came to visit the suspect at his home.

Government officials are shutting down needle exchange programs for 'moral reasons', thus facilitating spread of HIV and Hep C infections

clean syringe, needle exchange program

Moral judgment of drug users overrules solutions that fight overdoses and halt the spread of disease.
Back when he was governor of Indiana, Mike Pence, after much praying and pressure, relented and signed legislation that permitted counties to establish needle exchange programs if they could show they were having an HIV or hepatitis C epidemic.

Rural Indiana was indeed having such an epidemic at the time, and even the sheriff of Scott County, where the number of new HIV cases had seen a dramatic increase, determined that a needle exchange program was needed. He told Pence as much.

After the needle exchange program began, Scott County saw a notable drop in new HIV cases. It has been a small but important success as America figures out how to deal with an increase in heroin use.

But those efforts are potentially at risk now. Two counties in Indiana have shut down their relatively new needle exchange programs, expert advice and actual outcomes be damned.

A couple tried to register the name Jihad at their town hall near Toulouse after the birth of their son in August.
A couple in France have been reported to the authorities for trying to name their son Jihad - sparking a wave of controversy.

The Muslim parents tried to register the name at their town hall near Toulouse after the birth in August, according to local reports.

But officials immediately alerted the public prosecutor, who is now challenging the name in the family court because of its links to terrorism.

A judge will then have the power to order the couple to choose another name.

The family claim the name does not mean Holy War - but rather effort, struggle and self-denial.

Four years ago another couple whose three-year-old son was named Jihad were handed suspended prison sentences for sending him to school in a t-shirt with the slogans 'I am a bomb' on the front and 'Born on 9/11' on the back.

The vast majority of Americans believe that investigations into claims that President Donald Trump colluded with Russia during the 2016 election are hurting the country, according to a new Harvard-Harris poll.

The October survey found that 63 percent of respondents believe the investigations are hurting the US, while just 37 percent believe that they are helping.

There is a sharp split along partisan lines, with most Republicans (79 percent) saying that the probes were hurting the nation, compared to 49 percent of Democrats.

Over 4,000 Facebook users in the Boston area have RSVP'd to attend the event they're calling "Scream helplessly at the sky on the anniversary of the election." Another 33,000 have expressed interest in attending the event at the 383-year-old Boston Common.

Sex robot inventor Sergi Santos isn't just changing how men pleasure themselves - he's potentially changing society as we know it.

The Spanish scientist believes it's only a matter of time before human-and-robot marriage is commonplace, and he's even hatched a plan for how he can have a baby with his mechanical temptress Samantha.

Samantha is Santos' 100-pound sex robot that boasts eight different programs and the ability to make "realistic" orgasm sounds.

Santos told the Sun Online he believes that in the next couple of decades, we won't just be seeing these dolls hidden in a man's closet or under the bed - they'll be walking down the aisle to say "I do" to their human lovers.

Speaking from his home laboratory in Barcelona, he said: "People might look at Samantha as a weird thing you read about."

Comment: Utterly depraved.

French stores run out of butter: 'Worst shortage since WW2'

butter shortage france

Stores in France are currently not stocking butter.
Supermarkets in France are struggling to stock enough butter for their customers due to a shortage of the dairy product that's been blamed on a rising global demand for pastries.

Brittany and Normandy have reportedly been hit particularly hard as the appetite for croissants and butter in Asia and the Middle East soars.

The current butter shortage has its origins in a 2015 decision made by the EU to abolish its system of milk quotas. A glut of milk supplies followed and global prices collapsed, forcing dairy farmers to dramatically scale back their output.

This decline in production came as butter was enjoying something of a comeback thanks to research suggesting that saturated fats were not as harmful as once thought. Now the current enthusiasm for French pastries in emerging economies appears to be the tipping point as butter prices soar in the country (60% in the last year alone according to official data), leaving the household staple in short supply.

Comment: Somebody messed up here, majorly.

The reasons proffered in MSM (French included) are that the price of butter has increased because of a huge increase in demand from China and the Middle East coupled with a domestic increase in demand due to the return to favor of butter (over margarine) by European consumers.

That does not fly: for decades the EU has infamously managed European agricultural surplus by creating literal 'butter mountains' and 'milk lakes'. A global increase in demand for European dairy should be a boon for Europe, not a curse!

But instead they're telling us... there is no butter and people are being laid off work.

The word in France is that what's really going on here is a spat between the EU, Paris and major dairy producers over how profits are distributed between them.

These days, even when they have something good going for them, Western 'elites' mess it up. And everybody else pays. Welcome to the Soviet era.

Swedish journalist who referred to Assange as a 'criminal' now facing rape and assault charges from multiple women

A journalist with Swedish daily Aftonbladet who reportedly referred to WikiLeaks co-founder Julian Assange as a "criminal" is himself in hot water. He's accused of rape and sexual assault - including of underage girls.

The allegations against Fredrik Virtanen, who also hosts his own talk show on Swedish TV8, emerged as part of the #MeToo social media campaign. The campaign, which surged in popularity after the sex scandal surrounding Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein, encourages women to speak up to share their experiences of sexual harassment.

The first accusation against Virtanen was made by Swedish feminist activist, journalist and actress Cissi Wallin, who claimed last week that Virtanen raped her back in 2006, when she was 21. In 2010, Wallin said an "older media man with power" had sexually assaulted her and wanted to push his genitals into her mouth, but did not give his name, Nyheter24 reported.

"I cannot be quiet anymore," Wallin said in her Instagram post. The journalist added that she should "have screamed his name long ago," but was silent as the journalist's representative called her "bosses and so on, and dubbed me a 'crazy mythomaniac.'"

The next witch hunt begins: WADA opens investigation into claims of widespread doping in Chinese sports

The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has announced an investigation into claims of widespread doping in Chinese sports, following the airing of a documentary on a German TV channel.

The statement regarding the probe was published on the organization's website, and involves claims that large-scale doping practices were prevalent in China in the 1980s and 90s.

"The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) has seen the 21 October documentary by German broadcaster ARD alleging systematic doping in China during the 1980s and 1990s; and, questioning whether such a system may have prevailed beyond these decades. The allegations were brought forward by former Chinese physician, Xue Yinxian, who is said to have looked after several national teams in China during the decades in question," it reads.

WADA's statement refers to the recently released documentary by German journalist Hajo Seppelt, titled 'China's doped ascent to sports superpower.'
