Neocon pundit Max Boot goes full 'White Man's Burden' in WaPo op-ed, cue mass jaw drop from Twitter

Neocon pundit Max Boot defended the unwinnable US "forever wars" in the Middle East in an op-ed comparing them to the slow-motion slaughter of Native Americans at the hands of settlers suffused with Manifest Destiny.

The unrepentant interventionist delivered a sentiment that would make Kipling proud to the Washington Post readers, pointing out that it took 300 years to "civilize" the continent of North America - like Afghanistan and Syria, an "unconventional combat assignment" that wouldn't end in a ticker-tape parade.

"We need to think of these deployments as we thought of our Indian Wars, which lasted 300 years, or as the British thought about their deployment on the North West Frontier, which lasted 100 years. US troops are policing the frontiers of the Pax Americana," Boot tweeted, only to delete the excerpt later after getting severely ratio'd.

Comment: Despite the atrocities Max Boot is using for his comparison being decades to hundreds of years old and all that we know now because of them, he's apparently none the wiser:

Florida man spends 6 weeks in jail for laundry detergent cops thought was 'heroin'

Matt Crull
For nearly six full weeks, 29-year-old Matt Crull said he sat inside a Florida jail for a crime he didn't commit.

The charge was trafficking heroin, according to CBS12. It came with a steep potential punishment and bond, which frightened Crull, who said an officer mistook laundry detergent for heroin.

"(It's) very surreal when you're sitting in jail with a half a million dollars bond," Crull told WPBF25, "and you can't go anywhere knowing that you didn't do wrong.

Border Patrol Chief under Obama says MS-13 'laughs' at how easy it is to cross border

MS-13 illegal gang members
Former President Barack Obama's Border Patrol chief said that MS-13 gang members "laugh" at how easy it is to cross the southern border during his appearance on "Tucker Carlson Tonight" on Monday.

Mark Morgan has appeared on Carlson's show multiple times over the last week or so to discuss the president's desire to build a wall. He was initially asked to step down from his position with the Border Patrol by the Trump administration.

Morgan and Carlson were discussing the three illegal immigrants who beat up two New York high school students. Two of the three had been apprehended by law enforcement officials for previous crimes, but officials were forced to release them after a certain period of time because they were minors at the time they crossed into the country.

The real victims of racism were those MAGA-hat-wearing high school students

MAGA hat kid
America was left bitterly divided after a decontextualized video went viral last weekend portraying a group of MAGA-hat-wearing Catholic high school students as unabashed racists having the time of their lives mocking a drum-beating Native American in front of the Lincoln Memorial, but the truth turned out to be very different than how the situation was originally presented. What really happened is that these high school students were waiting for their chaperones after participating in the March for Life anti-abortion protest but were verbally abused by members of an African-American cult called the "Black Hebrew Israelites" who hurled racist, religious, and homophobic insults at them while predicting that they were all on the brink of carrying out America's next school shooting. Unmoved by the hateful rant coming from this small group of provocateurs, the students started doing school chants in order to drown out the racists, and it's in that context that Nathan Phillips moved in with his drum.

Video footage from the "Black Hebrew Israelite" cult itself proved that Phillips determinedly approached the students while incessantly beating his drum, which they at first thought was a sign of solidarity with them but soon realized was some sort of passive-aggressive act after he singled out Nick Sandmann and epically stared him down when the boy wouldn't move out of his way and let this stranger into his crowd of colleagues. Sandmann's smirk has since become famous because his supporters saw it as a peaceful act of defiance in the face of unprovoked hostility while his opponents claimed that it somehow evinces signs of "racism" or at the very least "cultural condescension". Whatever one's personal views are about this event, the fact of the matter is that the video footage shows an altogether different chain of events than what Phillips himself said happened and that the Mainstream Media jumped on the fake news bandwagon before eventually distancing itself.

revolution france
A leader of the Gilets Jaunes (Yellow Vest) movement has called for an "uprising" at next Saturday's protest, following the severe injury of one of its major figures over the weekend.

The protest last weekend, dubbed "Act XI," saw 69,000 participants across France, with 4,000 in the capital of Paris. One of the major incidents involved prominent figure Jerome Rodrigues who was shot at by riot police with "flashball" rounds which resulted in the activist being seriously injured, facing the prospect of losing one of his eyes, Le Figaro reports.

Comment: Make no mistake, the violence being inflicted on the Yellow Vests are no accidents, but the bullying tactics of a malevolent regime bent on staying in power when the vast majority of the French want them OUT.

The real resistance: Sheriffs in Washington State REFUSE to implement unconstitutional gun laws

sheriff
Washington state recently introduced bills for some of the strictest gun laws in the country but they have some very important opponents: the sheriffs.

Long thought to be the last line of defense between authoritarianism and freedom, sheriffs are in a unique position. As elected officials, basically nobody has authority over them - not the judges, not the Feds - no one except the people who may or may not choose to re-elect them.

What are those new gun laws in Washington?

In November, Washington voters passed a ballot initiative, I-1639. To purchase a semi-automatic rifle, buyers must be over 21, undergo an enhanced background check, must have completed a safety course, and need to wait 9 days to take possession of their weapon. And that's not all. A gun owner who doesn't store his or her weapon "properly" can be prosecuted.

Comment: In a country with one of the most pathologized police forces in the world, it is heartening to see at least one sheriff exercise his rights in defense of his constituency's rights. But in the draconian goal of ultimately disarming the entire American public - this mandate will likely and eventually be enforced at the end of a gun.

Jussie Smollett
Empire star Jussie Smollett is in the hospital after two people allegedly assaulted him on the streets of Chicago around 2:00 a.m. last night.

The police are investigating the attack as a hate crime, since the perpetrators reportedly made racist and homophobic slurs. Smollett is a gay black man.

Several media outlets referenced claims that appeared in TMZ's coverage of this matter, most notably that the perpetrators were white and yelled "this is MAGA country," as they attacked Smollett. But a spokesperson for the Chicago police denied having any information about the race and political views of the attackers.*

Comment: Oh lord, another bout of violence or offense taken at the expense of - or reaction to - MAGA being seen or heard.

So much for inclusivity: Antifa leader charged with 'ethnic intimidation' connected to attack on marines

Joseph “Jose” Alcoff

Joseph “Jose” Alcoff
Antifa leader Joseph "Jose" Alcoff, also known as "Chepe," was arrested and charged with multiple felonies in Philadelphia on Jan. 10 in connection to the Antifa mob attack against two Marines in November.

Alcoff faces 17 charges, including multiple counts of aggravated assault, ethnic intimidation, conspiracy and terroristic threats, and one count of robbery while inflicting serious bodily injury.

An affidavit filed in the case reveals that The Daily Caller News Foundation's reporting on Alcoff's connection to violent Antifa groups was an integral factor leading to his arrest.

The Marines, Alejandro Godinez and Luis Torres, testified in December that a group of 10 to 12 Antifa members called them "Nazis" and "white supremacists" and attacked them on the street despite their denials that they had no association with the right-wing group demonstrating nearby.

Former UN rapporteur: Israeli expulsion of observers from Hebron a 'wicked' decision

Sign of the Temporary International Presence in Hebron
A former UN envoy on Palestinian affairs has condemned a decision by Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu to expel international observers from the West Bank city of Hebron, a hotspot of Israeli-Palestinian tensions.

John Dugard, an international law professor who previously served as special rapporteur to the UN Human Rights Council concerning Palestinian affairs, described the decision to expel the Temporary International Presence in Hebron (TIPH) as "wicked."

"The situation in Hebron is very volatile," he told RT, adding that TIPH "have kept the peace there quite successfully" even as tensions continued to rise between Palestinians and Jewish Israeli settlers.

The observers have "always played an important role in keeping the peace in Hebron and one cannot imagine Hebron without the presence of TIPH. This will be seen as a green light to the settlers to undermine and to violate the rights of the Palestinian people in Hebron," he said.
