The man who claimed to be in possession of an explosive device by the Capitol Hill complex has surrendered to law enforcement after hours of negotiation.
The Associated Press confirmed the update Thursday afternoon.

Police rushed into emergency response when a man sitting in a pickup truck without a license plate outside the Library of Congress informed them that he had a bomb, sources familiar with the matter told AP. Washington, D.C., police had been investigating the "active bomb threat" and corresponding with the suspect to reach a "resolution" and deescalate the situation, Capitol Police chief Tom Manger said at a news conference Thursday.

The man has since been identified as Floyd Ray Roseberry, a 49-year-old white male from North Carolina, authorities confirmed.

Comment: UPDATE 20/8/2021 More details from the arrest of Mr. Roseberry:
Capitol Police didn't find a bomb in the truck, "but possible bomb making materials were collected from the truck," according to a news release by the agency.

In comments aimed at President Joe Biden, Roseberry says:
"I'm all ready to die for the cause. And brother, if you could do anything to save one life, one life, you said you'd do it. Well, you got a chance. I want to go home. I want to go home and see my wife. We're living in a free country, Joe. The choice is yours. If you want to shoot me and take the chance of blowing up two-and-a-half city blocks, 'cause that tool box is full, ammonium nitrate is full. I don't want to die, Joe. I want to go home, just like the people of Afghanistan want to go home. All them dead people are on your hands, too."
Roseberry had recently lost members of his family, including his mother, Manger said.

"There were other issues that he was dealing with," Manger said, citing conversations with Roseberry's family.
"Right now, we have no indication that he was acting with anyone else," Manger said.

Roseberry also was known as Bubba Roseberry, according to the N.C. Department of Public Safety. He was convicted in February 1989 of larceny and operating a vehicle without a license — both misdemeanors — and received probation and a suspended sentence. Public records also show multiple criminal offenses in Roseberry's past, but none since 2010. Roseberry had a "limited" arrest history in Cleveland County, Sheriff Alan Norman said during a news conference in Grover.

Roseberry was listed as an assistant supervisor at a company called Ithaca Industries Inc. Ithaca manufactured and sold apparel, according to a records search by the (Raleigh) News & Observer. However the company has not filed an annual report with the N.C. Secretary of State since 2001.

Roseberry communicated with police by holding up hand-written signs through the front driver's side window, Capitol Police said. Officers brought him a phone "in hopes of trying to continue the dialogue," but Roseberry left the truck and officers took him into custody, according to the police statement.

Shocking new TV investigation shows why Australia should be on red alert for the next neo-Nazi mass slaughter

© YouTube / 60 Minutes Australia
An undercover investigation has revealed Australia's right-wing extremists hide behind suburban normality to hoard guns and raise money while planning a new 'ethno-state', and even exposed links to the Christchurch mosque killer.

There used to be a time when right-wing nutters were treated as a bit of a joke. After all, things didn't end so well for their idol Adolf Hitler, and ever since his death in a German bunker his corrupt national socialist ideology has not exactly enjoyed any mainstream endorsement.

Anyway, Western governments have had more on their minds than neo-Nazis and their ilk. There was a new bunch of bad guys on the block, and those radical Islamists proved they were capable of large-scale atrocities, as demonstrated by dozens of attacks on Western targets around the world and the unforgettable events of 9/11, now 20 years ago.

In focusing attention on overthrowing despots like Iraq's Saddam Hussein, Libya's Muammar Gaddafi or, more recently, Syria's Bashar Assad, in what we were all led to believe were successive attempts to deprive Islamist terrorists of shelter, support and finances, Western nations have taken their eye off the ball. They should have been paying more attention to the growth of the extreme right-wing movements from which evil killers like New Zealand mosque murderer Brenton Tarrant and Norwegian crazy Anders Breivik have emerged.

Comment: If they had focused on neo-Nazis instead of jihadists, the current criticism would just be reversed. The fact is, there are all kinds of terrorist groups, and the national security establishments only devote serious resources to the flavor of the day - the one by which they can achieve other objectives. Don't be surprised if the new enemy turns out to be rightwing terrorists - real, imagined, and exaggerated - in the USA, for instance. And meanwhile, the entire western world is currently undergoing a social justice cultural revolution...

The fact they didn't has proven to be a serious mistake. Because while everyone's been distracted with fighting Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS) and their offshoots in dusty, far-off hellholes, an Australian investigation broadcast this week shows domestic, right-wing extremists have been organising in suburban homes, just like the ones you or I might live next door to, and are far more sophisticated than most folk would ever believe.

US to require nursing home employees to get COVID-19 shots, despite studies showing declining vaccine efficacy

A syringe is filled with a dose of Pfizer's COVID-19 vaccine at a pop-up community vaccination center at the Gateway World Christian Center in Valley Stream, New York, U.S., February 23, 2021.
President Joe Biden said on Wednesday his administration will require employees at nursing homes to be vaccinated against COVID-19 as a condition of the facilities participating in the Medicare and Medicaid government healthcare programs.

Biden made the announcement hours after the release of a study showing that the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines for residents of nursing homes and long-term care facilities, where residents are often elderly and frail, has dropped since the Delta variant became dominant in the United States.

Residents of nursing homes have been hard hit during the pandemic, with many facilities experiencing high death tolls - particularly early in the public health crisis. People living in nursing homes were among the first to be given shots after COVID-19 vaccines won U.S. government authorization last year.

Comment: Remember this - You're never fully vaccinated.

Chinese regulators summon Evergrande property developer execs, warn debt poses systemic risk

China's central bank said it summoned executives of the country's most indebted property developer, China Evergrande Group, to talks on Thursday and issued a rare warning that the company needs to reduce its debt risks and prioritise stability.

The unusual summons comes amid fragile confidence in China's credit markets and concern that any financial crisis at Evergrande could pose a systemic risk as the company struggles to find the cash it needs to pay its lenders.

It also comes days after President Xi Jinping highlighted efforts to forestall major financial risks and as a flurry of regulatory crackdowns roil China's equity markets.

Pro-Putin party politicians suggest prohibiting 'Russophobes' & 'Nazis' from entering the country

Sheremetyevo International Airport, in Moscow, Russia.
MPs from Russia's ruling political party have proposed banning entry into the country for those who have shown hatred or hostility towards the nation or its people, influential politician Alexander Khinstein revealed on Thursday.

According to the United Russia politician, the proposed law is a response to growing Russophobia in the post-Soviet space. The bill, if passed, could ban foreigners and stateless persons from entering Russia for several reasons, the chairman of the parliamentary committee on information policy explained.

"For Russophobes and Nazi followers, the doors to the country should be tightly closed," Khinstein said. As per the proposals, those who incite hatred on "national, racial, religious or linguistic grounds" would be prohibited from entering Russia, as well as those who "degrade the honor and dignity of veterans of the Great Patriotic War" or desecrate monuments.

Comment: The West has been banning certain persons from entry for years now. It became popularized in the UK with bans against preachers of extreme forms of Islam. Then the US and New Zealand began forcing checks on entrant's social media accounts. But now these bans encompass people of all stripes that the West deems 'extremist', which, as we've come to see, can include vast swathes of people, who expose the government propaganda narrative.

In an era where the establishment seems to favour hybrid warfare as a means to destabilize countries, measures like these can be effective. It also seems reasonable to prohibit entry for those who have or intend on breaking the local laws, however, as we've seen in the West, this power can be abused.

An associate of former President Trump's son-in-law Jared Kushner was charged Wednesday with eavesdropping and computer trespass for allegedly using spyware to monitor his former wife's online activity.

Ken Kurson, who was pardoned by Trump and is a close friend of Kushner's, was charged with two felonies by the Manhattan District Attorney's office, it announced in a statement.

Manhattan District Attorney Cy Vance said the two felonies are connected to the 52-year-old going through his then-wife's communications September 2015 to March 2016.

Florida's largest school district approved mask mandates late Wednesday in defiance of Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis's (R) order that parents should be given an option to opt their kids out of wearing face coverings in classrooms.

The board of Miami-Dade County Public Schools approved the policies on a 7-1 vote, according to The New York Times.

The board member who cast the only vote against the mandate, Lubby Navarro, said she was "not going to sit here and violate state law," the Times noted.

Ontario hits pause on plan to lift remaining COVID-19 restrictions as it mandates vaccine policies for some high-risk settings

Health-care workers get ready to test a person at a pop-up COVID-19 assessment centre at the Angela James Arena during the COVID-19 pandemic in Toronto May 19, 2021.
The Ontario government has put its plans to lift all remaining public health restrictions on hold as its top public health official warns of a "difficult fall and winter" ahead.

Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Kieran Moore made the announcement during a press conference on Tuesday afternoon as he outlined Ontario's plan to make vaccination policies mandatory for some high-risk settings and to begin administering third doses to those at highest risk of severe complications from COVID-19.

The news comes after Moore suggested last week that Ontario was "seven to 10 days" away from reaching the vaccination milestones that would allow it to exit its Roadmap to Reopen and lift virtually all remaining public health restrictions, including capacity limits and limits on gathering sizes but excluding indoor masking.

Ontario's rolling seven-day average of new cases has risen 54 per cent since then and there are increasing concerns that Ontario's hospitals could soon see another influx of COVID-19 patients, predominantly involving unvaccinated individuals.

Horror as Kabul falls to a regime more liberal than Australia's

police on horses

The Taliban are so horrible they aren’t even clamping down on funerals if they exceed 10 people!
Horror! Afghanistan has been overrun by a regime so barbarous and cruel that under its rule people are allowed to step outside without a passport, may even enter government offices, museums, and stores without said passport, and where — gasp (!) — men may walk outside without face coverings!

This is simply too barbaric to even contemplate! Why can't the Taliban be more like us?? It's time to enter the 21st century, fellas!

On the other hand, the Taliban do at least ban concerts, cinemas and night clubs so there is still hope they may yet join the civilized world and offer progressive governance, with more clampdowns on anything that makes life worth living, just as the West has done for the past year and a half. Fingers crossed!
