A 35-year-old man of Sri Lankan origin has suffered horrific injuries to his head and arm after two assailants, armed with a machete and a saber, stormed an Indian restaurant in Paris' 10th arrondissement.

The gruesome attack, the scene of which both assailants managed to flee, took place on Monday night in the French capital, according to local media reports. The 10th arrondissement is home to a large South Asian community.

Passengers aboard a United Express flight travelling from San Francisco to Boise, Idaho, were in for a rude awakening after an "unruly passenger" attempted to open the cabin door mid-flight to everyone else's bemusement.

Despite the incident, the flight kept its course without declaring an on-board emergency. All 73 passengers aboard the plane were unharmed.

One passenger from California recalls what he witnessed aboard the United Express Embraer 175 Flight 5449, operated by SkyWest Airlines, on Monday. He first noticed the commotion while sitting behind her and thought that she was just a nervous flyer.

US: Former big pharma rep and current Health services secretary sez "No such thing as medical marijuana"

Alex Azar,
© Evan Vucci/APAlex Azar, who was deputy secretary for Health and Human Services in the George W. Bush administration, is President Trump's pick to replace Dr. Tom Price as head of the department.
While speaking on March 2nd at a press conference on opioids at an inpatient facility that treats newborns suffering from prenatal drug exposure, U.S. Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar proclaimed that "there really is no such thing as medical marijuana" in response to a question regarding what he sees as the role of medical marijuana as an alternative to opioids for pain management. Azar went on to say, "There is no FDA approved use of marijuana, a botanical plant. I just want to be very clear about that."

Azar, who was the president of the U.S. division of Eli Lilly & Co. from 2012 to 2017, added that the government will invest hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars into "next generation pain therapies" as an alternative to opioids.

Comment: One wonders whether Azar's former employment is hazing his judgement: Study Finds: Medical cannabis superior to opioids for chronic pain

Comment: Clearly, for some, financial investments and beliefs are more important than the freely available scientific data:

Confessions of the Vatican's favorite male escort: Fraud, embezzlement, drug dealing, extortion and money laundering

male escort named Francesco Mangiacapra
Male escort Francesco Mangiacapra
Father Luca Morini did not practice what he preached. In fact, the Catholic priest apparently did a lot more than preaching at the two parishes he led in rural Tuscany where he earned the nickname "Don Euro" and where he now faces charges for fraud, embezzlement, drug dealing, extortion, and money laundering.

His impropriety was first exposed after a male escort named Francesco Mangiacapra discovered that the consensual sex-for-hire relationship he had with Morini, who he thought was a high-powered judge, was not quite what it seemed. Mangiacapra, who trained as a lawyer but who apparently found the male-escort business more profitable, had made the discovery quite by chance, when he recognized his high-dollar client in priest garb.

Conservative media under attack: Here are some of the prominent conservative websites who are victims of the tech giant purge list

facebook google
Tech Giants Google and Facebook are currently purging conservative content from Facebook and YouTube. They are hiding conservative stories on Google. They are shadow-banning conservative news on all social media.

In February, Facebook launched a new algorithm to ensure that conservative news would not spread on the social media platform. The algorithm change caused President Donald Trump's engagement on Facebook posts to plummet a whopping 45%.

In contrast, Senators Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Bernie Sanders (I-VT) do not appear to have suffered a comparable decline in Facebook engagement.

Comment: Because the tech giants have an internal culture of radical left-wing authoritarianism, it's unsurprising that they are making moves to censor any voices that fall outside of their ideological position. One can only assume there will be a mass migration to alternative platforms, where such blatant bias is held in check, in the near future.

France: Age of consent to be 'set' at 15 after outrage over men who raped 11-year-old girls weren't charged

Equality Minister Marlène Schiappa has welcomed the decision to set the age of consent at 15
Equality Minister Marlène Schiappa has welcomed the decision to set the age of consent at 15
France is to set the legal age of consent at 15 after outrage when rape charges were not brought against two men accused of having sex with two 11-year-old girls.

The age will be set in an amendment to the Code penal and Equality Minister Marlène Schiappa said she was delighted that "after consultations with citizens and an experts' report" the age of 15 had been recommended.

At present, there is no age of consent in France and sex with an under-15 is only a crime if it has been forced. The new law will mean under-15s will not legally be able to consent to sex. In the cases of the 11-year-old girls, the men had been able to say no force was used and they were charged with a sex offence involving a minor. One man was acquitted - the prosecution has launched an appeal - and the other case is continuing.

New Draft Law

Amid public shock at the idea that an 11-year-old child could be deemed able to consent to sexual intercourse with an adult, the French government - represented by the Minister of Justice, Nicole Belloubet, and the Minister of Women's Rights, Marlene Schiappa - announced a new draft law that aims to 'solve the problem' by setting an age of consent at 13 years old.

Note, this does not mean that the age under which it is illegal to have sexual relations with a child in France has been dropped from 15 to 13, but rather that if the sexually abused child is at least 13 years old, then the courts may presume that consent was given.

The minister of justice has been pretty clear about this point and publicly stated:
"13 years would be an age that seems to me to correspond to what the High Commission for Equality between Women and Men advocated and which other foreign countries have advocated"
While the French government and mainstream media laud this development as evidence of great societal progress, they only focus on the two latest abnormal precedents and forget that there was already an implicit age of consent - 15 years old - that was almost always enforced by courts, for decades. So what is depicted as great progress in laws protecting the child is, in practice, a major regression where the age at which a child can be presumed to have consented to sex with an adult has been dropped from 15 to 13. The result being that adults accused of sexual abuse of a minor (between 13 and 15 years old) will likely be given lighter sentences.

Officials at the Agriculture Department announced last month that the agency's computer network is blocking more than 400 websites, including social media companies Facebook and WhatsApp, in an attempt to stop employees and contractors from viewing pornography on agency time.

According to a Feb. 23 memo obtained by Federal News Radio, Chris Lowe, the agency's chief information security officer, told employees that the agency will prevent access to social media websites "not related to official department communications or business" beginning Wednesday. Accompanying the announcement was a list of more than 400 sites that will be blocked, including Snapchat in addition to Facebook and WhatsApp.

"The websites that are included in this block are attached to this message and should be reviewed to ensure official USDA business and communications is not impacted," Lowe wrote. "We have worked with the Office of Communications to ensure this list does not conflict with official USDA channels of communication, however, we ask that you review to check for impact to your mission areas and agencies."

Comment: It's a sad testament to the degradation of society that such measures need to be taken.

Italy shifts away from pro-EU leadership after election

italy
The Italian elections have resulted in the predicted swing against the centre-left pro-EU Democratic Party, the successor of Italy's once mighty Communist Party - the party of Togliatti and Gramsci - and today the Party of outgoing Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni and former Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

From a position in 2008, when the Democratic Party won 37% of the vote in the parliamentary elections of that year, it fell to 25% of the vote in the elections of 2013, and has no fallen further to just 19% of the vote in the elections which have been held now.

The result is that the Democratic Party has now fallen to third place behind the combined Beppe Grillo's insurrectionary Five Star Movement (which won 32% of the vote) and the right wing alliance nominally led by Matteo Salvini but whose best know figure is Silvio Berlusconi, the individual who has dominated Italian politics since the Tangentopoli scandal of the early 1990s.

Employers are foregoing drug tests due to tight job markets and legalized pot

Employers struggling to fill jobs have begun to relax or eliminate drug testing requirements amid increased marijuana legalization and a tightening U.S. job market.

Drug testing has been standard procedure for decades across a variety of industries, ranging from finance to manufacturing to healthcare - which several employers have begun to eschew.

Las Vegas based Excellence Health Inc., for example, stopped testing employees for marijuana two years ago - and completely dropped drug tests in the beginning of 2018 for employees on the pharmaceutical side of the business. "We don't care what people do in their free time," said company spokesperson Liam Meyer. "We want to help these people, instead of saying: 'Hey, you can't work for us because you used a substance." The company also provides a hotline for workers who might be struggling with drug issues.

In February, AutoNation Inc. - the largest auto dealer in the country, announced it would no longer refuse job applicants who tested positive for marijuana, while the Denver Post ended pre-employment drug testing last September for all positions that don't require safety precautions.

As the Daily Caller reported in February, the manufacturing industry in Ohio has experienced stunted growth because many potential employees are also addicted to drugs - primarily opioids.
