Video capturing someone receiving a severe beating from two baton-wielding Alameda County Sheriff's deputies also shows an officer taking a "trophy photo" with the wailing victim. But that's just the beginning of a scandal of theft and bribery allegations.

Stanislav Petrov gave chase at about 1:30am on November 12 of last year when police observed him driving a white 2015 Mercedes-Benz C300 sedan, a rental vehicle which had been reported stolen as its lease had expired, the San Jose Mercury News reported.

Petrov, 29, upon being approached by police, ignored their commands and rammed his Mercedes into two patrol cars, injuring one officer and disabling his patrol car, before heading out of the San Leandro and Castro Valley area, taking the Bay Bridge to San Francisco, sometimes at speeds of around 100mph.

British schools charge parents for students to eat home-packed lunches

English school lunch
Parents allege a primary school in Yorkshire, England is charging them about $1.43 a day to eat their home-packed lunch in the cafeteria.

And a secondary school in south east England is reportedly charging more than $2.50 to eat their own lunch at school, parents told the country's teachers union.

The union, NASUWT, conducted a recent survey of parents that revealed many are being charged by public schools for allowing children to eat their home-made lunches at school, though most charge between about 9 and 50 cents per day, the Telegraph reports.

"Now just sitting in a dining hall and unwrapping your sandwiches is considered to be an optional extra, it's disgraceful," union deputy general secretary Patrick Roach told the news site. "Parents should be appalled in just the same way that we're appalled."

NASUWT general secretary Chris Keates said "schools are justifying it by saying, 'you're having to be supervised to eat your lunch and therefore if you're not having a school meal, you've got to contribute towards that supervision because you'll be in the dining room, sitting there."

Of course, the teachers union blames the situation on a lack of funding for public schools.

Four people were shot, including a state trooper who is in critical condition after a shooting at Greyhound bus station in Richmond, Virginia on Thursday, Virginia State Police said. The suspect is dead.

UPDATE: Virginia State Police confirmed the trooper who was shot during an incident at the Greyhound Bus Station on Thursday afternoon has died. A former Marine, Trooper Chad Dermeyer, 37, leaves behind a wife and two children. Dermeyer was one of three people shot during the incident. The shooting suspect also died.

Comment: Training exercises and live incidents seem to go hand in hand quite a bit. At any rate, it will surely be more of a security headache to take a Greyhound bus from now on.

The head and hands of a Virgin Mary statue outside a Billerica church were removed, leading police to look for possible connections to similar recent incidents.

Billerica Police are investigating after the statue was defaced outside St. Mary's Church on Boston Road.

A maintenance worker told police that the head and hands had been removed from the Virgin Mary statue sometime late Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning.

On Tuesday, Burlington Police began an investigation after three statues were vandalized in a similar fashion.

Billerica Police said they are aware of the Burlington incident and other recent cases of vandalism and they are working to determine if they are connected.

"We are actively investigating this disturbing crime and will continue to do so until we find those responsible," Police Chief Daniel Rosa said. "If you have seen anything suspicious around this church or any other religious institution, contact police immediately."

The ultimate trial of Israeli society's morality

israel soldier flag citizen
Last Thursday, March 24th, an Israel defense force (IDF) soldier was filmed executing a wounded Palestinian man alleged to have carried out a stabbing attack against IDF soldiers in the Tel Rumeida neighborhood of Hebron. The videographer responsible for the filming is Imad Abu Shamsiya, a Palestinian shoemaker who has since received death threats and intimidation from extreme right-wing Israeli settlers with the prospect of a potential lawsuit. Though the incident is part of a wave of extrajudicial killings of Palestinians carried out by Israeli soldiers, this particular case is different. Here, the film unambiguously shows that the wounded Palestinian man did not present a danger to his surrounding. Quite shockingly, not only does the film implicate the executioner; it also shows his IDF comrades as completely unfazed by the incident, including medical personnel. What's more, the soldier has received a wave of public support that politicians from the right-wing have seized as an opportunity to further erode the moral fabric of Israeli society in a bid to serve their political and ideological interests.

But what is the significance of yet another injustice in an endless list of those committed as a result of the occupation? While cold-blooded murder is an "official" taboo for the "most moral army in the world", last week's execution and Israeli society's response to it may serve as a milestone on the long and ugly road toward complete dehumanization of Palestinians and the resulting collapse of Israeli society.

SOTT Focus: Syria Bloody but Unbowed by Western-backed Terror campaign

Palmyra-ruins
Historic Palmyra, attacked by Western-backed terrorists
The recent liberation of Syria's Palmyra (a UNESCO world Heritage site) by the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) and allies is an important victory for numerous reasons. Not only does it send yet another message to the different Western-backed terrorist factions (which Syria has been fighting for the past five years) that they will eventually fall, but it also sends a message to the West and their gang of anti-Syrian states and actors - who have been fuelling this savage war on a sovereign Syria - that Syria and Syrians remain resilient, the SAA and allies remain relentless in their fight against terrorism, and that Syria's political allies continue to support her.

Further, the victory once again dispels the myth of "Assad's army brutalizing the people": footage from inside the liberated city of Palmyra shows residents praising President al-Assad and praising the Syrian Arab Army (a reported 200 of whom were killed in the battle to liberate Palmyra), much like footage from the liberated villages of Nubl and al-Zahra'a earlier this year, and every area, in fact, which the army has secured.

A Texas mom is being held by police after admitting that she and her boyfriend beat her 4-year-old daughter to death while they were in the midst of a heroin binge because the little girl drank her brother's juice, reports the Dallas Morning News.

Jeri Quezada, 30, is being held on $500,000 bail in a Grand Prairie jail following the death of her daughter Leiliana Wright.

According to the police report, Quezada initially called 911 saying her daughter had fallen in the shower, stating she and her boyfriend found her on the floor unresponsive.

Noticing bruises on the little girl's face, Quezada was taken in for questioning before finally admitting that she and boyfriend had been using heroin, and that her boyfriend had taped the young girl's arms behind her back and left her hanging in a closet where she couldn't sit down.

According to police, Leiliana's offense was drinking her 18-month-old brother's juice.

Seven in ten US women have a strongly negative view of Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, according to a new poll released on Friday.

Despite the fact that Trump's overall image is the most negative among all US presidential candidates, according to Gallup, the real estate mogul continues to be the Republican party elections front-runner.

"Donald Trump's image among US women tilts strongly negative, with 70% of women holding an unfavorable opinion and 23% a favorable opinion of the Republican front-runner in March," a Gallup poll stated.

Additionally, Trump's image is mostly negative among American men, according to the poll.

"The gap between his favorable and unfavorable rating among men averaged 22 percentage points in March 1-28 interviewing, compared with a 47-point gap among women," the poll said.

The latest nationwide polls, with nearly half the primaries and caucuses behind, indicate that Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton and Trump are likely to head into the general elections on November 8.

Man who secretly recorded nude videos of teen girl given no jail time

Daniel Anderson
Daniel Anderson mugshot
A Wisconsin man who used his cell phone to secretly record nude videos of a 14-year-old girl and her mother will not serve any time behind bars, according to the Leader Telegram.

Daniel C. Anderson, 32, was arrested in 2014 after a neighbor reported a man looking through the girl's bedroom window. He was apprehended by Eau Claire police and admitted to making the recordings.

The officers found a four-minute video of the girl showering and getting dressed on Anderson's cell phone. They also uncovered twelve more nude videos of the girl and four nude videos of her mother. The video of the girl was uploaded to the Internet and made "accessible to the public," according to court records.

Anderson will be on probation for two years and is required to complete 20 days of community service, according to WQOW.

Comment: Something is wrong with the justice system in the US when people who commit non-violent crimes with no victim get put in jail for 10 or 20 years but when a man stalks and violates the privacy of a child, showing nude videos of her online, he gets probation and community service. The authorities make it clear, it's better to be a sexual predator than to grow a plant.

Vatican defrocks priest after church investigation finds him guilty of sexually abusing children

A suburban Boston priest has been defrocked by the Vatican after an investigation by the Roman Catholic church found him guilty of child sexual abuse, the Boston Archdiocese said on Thursday.

The priest, Thomas H. Maguire, was serving as pastor of Saint Helen Mother of the Emperor Constantine church in Norwell, Massachusetts, about 25 miles (40 km) southeast of Boston, when he was accused in 2012 of inappropriate sexual activity with minors. Maguire was suspended from priestly duties at that time.

Police investigated that allegation but did not find evidence of a crime.

However, following the news of Maguire's suspension, other people came forward to accuse him of sexual abuse dating to the mid-1990s and earlier, the Boston Archdiocese said in a statement.
