The South Carolina lawmaker triggered a large number of blue checkmarks after accusing Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and her progressive cohorts of spearheading "the most radical mob" in recent American history.
"It appears the French Revolution has now come to the Democratic Party," the Republican senator tweeted.
But his incendiary warning seemed to galvanize liberal Twitter pundits and media figures.
Removing Confederate statues does nothing for black people, billionaire TV magnate Robert Johnson told Fox News on Wednesday. "It's not going to give a kid whose parents can't afford college, money to go to college. It's not going to close the labor gap...and it's not going to take people off welfare or food stamps."
It's tantamount to rearranging deck chairs on a racial Titanic. It absolutely means nothing.
Teaser ads for Parrot's new launch takes clear aim at one of its competitors, the Chinese company DJI, with the strap lines "Don't trust Chinese drones" and "Do you trust DJI drones?" The pointed barbs clearly draw on anti-China sentiments repeatedly being stoked in the West's - and in particular America's - growing war of words with the Asian nation.
China-bashing is in many ways today's Russia-bashing, with anything at all arising from the nation being labelled as suspect by foreign rivals with their own tech markets to protect and promote. The selective Western furore over Huawei's ties to the Chinese government is, of course, a case in point, despite there being no concrete evidence offered to justify a blanket technology ban against the company.
Cops were pelted with bottles and other projectiles on arrival at the scene near the Angell Town housing project in Brixton.
Footage posted to social media shows a large column of law enforcement officers facing off with the crowd as they attempt to pull back.
In one video, a shirtless man can be seen standing on top of a police car as he smashes the vehicle's windshield with a broken-off table leg. A police van was also chased and attacked by the mob.
The banner was seen trailing behind a plane over Manchester City's Etihad stadium on Monday before the club's Premier League game with Burnley. It provoked widespread condemnation and a police investigation, although authorities subsequently concluded that no criminal offense had been committed.
The person responsible for the banner, Burnley fan Jamie Hepple, faced a social media witch hunt although he responded with a Facebook post that said, "I'd like to take this time to apologise... TO ABSOLUTELY FUCKING NOBODY!"
However, after a Twitter mob discovered the employment details of his girlfriend Megan, she was fired by Solace Foot Health and Reflexology simply for being guilty by association.
A statement released by the company said they were "willing to try to help Megan by paying for Intensive Racial Sensitivity training" but that Megan had evidently refused to be re-educated and would rather leave, meaning she was effectively fired for being the boyfriend [sic 'girlfriend'] of a man who thinks "white lives matter."
Things got a bit heated when he spoke to some about police shooting statistics, as many of the demonstrators he spoke with didn't actually know the numbers.
Straka told the Daily Caller that he doesn't believe that there is systemic racism in policing.
"People's homes have been burned down, people's businesses have been burned down and all of this has happened over a statistical lie. It's unfortunate that we can't have a conversation in a unified way about how we need to do better perhaps with making sure that nobody gets killed in this country without due process by the law."Straka went on to discuss the Walkaway campaign's two-year anniversary and upcoming projects.
Why it matters: It's an international rebuke of the Trump administration's handling of the pandemic. Millions of American tourists travel to the EU every summer, but that's unlikely to happen until the U.S. gets the virus under control.
- Travelers around the world have been banned from traveling to the EU since mid-March, but countries have been starting to lift travel restrictions to fellow member states within the bloc over the past few weeks.
- The final decision on which countries will be excluded from the EU's list of admissible travelers is expected early next week, before the bloc reopens on July 1.
The problematic statues row has now taken a turn from political iconoclasm to literal iconoclasm with depictions of "white Jesus" next on the hit list for some of Black Lives Matter's more hardcore proponents.
Comment: These rejects are starting to look more and more like ISIS. It shouldn't be a surprise - they're both ponerogenic unions made up of mentally ill individuals.
Activist Shaun King has called for all the statues, murals, stained glass windows and paintings depicting the Messiah as having European features to come down because they are a "gross form of White Supremacy." To illustrate his point, King makes the perceptive observation that when Jesus, Mary and Joseph went into hiding while Herod engaged in a spot of infanticide in 1 AD Judea, the family hid in Egypt, not Denmark, so they would "blend in."
Comment: King is an idiot. Cultures tend to depict their religious figures with features matching their own. They always have, and probably always will. Birchall also makes this point below.
This is exactly the sort of mission creep many people worried about when the whole statues issue started to pick up steam last month. It began with slave owners, and one can see the argument there for taking them down, but it is worth noting that the statues themselves were not erected for their services to the Transatlantic slave trade.
Comment: In the name of standards, they should just agree to remove all statues produced prior to 2019, because everyone before then was racist and sexist. In fact, there should be no new statues erected (with an exception for Greta), because most people are still racist and sexist - according to these demented minds.

The San Jose Police Department is seeking the public’s help in identifying a woman accused of coughing on a 1-year-old’s face.
The incident occurred June 12 at around 5:25 p.m. at Yogurtland on Cottle Road.
"I can't believe that someone has the heart to do this - and why?" said mother Mireya Mora. "My child did nothing wrong."
The suspect was standing in line inside of the business in front of Mora and her baby in a stroller.
Police say the investigation revealed the suspect was upset Mora was not maintaining social distance so she took off her face mask, got into the stroller and coughed two to three times.
Comment: Remember this? Psychopathic traits linked to non-compliance with social distancing guidelines amid the coronavirus pandemic. And SOTT's response:
So naturally, if people are told that there is a potentially deadly virus going around, psychopaths will not care. Just as they'll probably sleep with multiple partners even if they have an STD, they will probably even get a little pleasure out of breaking "social distancing" norms and sneezing in people's faces. In fact, they might even pretend to have the virus just to freak people out and terrorize them. Anyone who was once a child playing on a playground knows there are people like this.In this case, it's rich that the coughing woman was the one allegedly trying to enforce social distancing. We hadn't considered this in the above article, but we should have. Psychopaths will not only neglect social distancing because they don't care - they will use it as a means to terrorize people who are scared into believing it is necessary, even if that means coughing on your baby. Just another day among the wildlife on planet Earth!
This argument erases Palestinian humanity, because in fact Palestinians did rise up over the move of the embassy. The Great March of Return in Gaza was launched in large measure as a response to Trump's 2017 decision, and those demonstrations brought a ghastly loss of Palestinian life and limb.
But first, let's hear some of these tone-deaf statements. Dennis Ross speaking to WINEP on June 18:

Comment: Someone has re-started a race war. It just looks a bit different than those in the past. Wrongful dismissals for insane reasons need legal investigations and redress before this becomes the trend.
