Poll shows nearly 70% of Italians back Salvini's stand against EU on migrant ferries

Almost 60 percent of Italians say it was right to shut their ports to ships transporting illegal migrants from Africa, and 68 percent say populist interior minister Matteo Salvini was correct to stand up to the EU on the issue.

The poll comes as a convoy of ships carrying more than 600 migrants docks at the Spanish port of Valencia, a week after they were picked up close to Africa for transport to Italy, before Salvini refused to take them.

The right-wing Lega party leader and Minister of the Interior, who forms half of Italy's new populist coalition government alongside Luigi Di Maio's Five-Star Movement, appears to have popular support in Italy.

Comment: Italy has said it will give ships and equipment to the Libyan Coast Guard to help it intercept and bring migrants back home.

Italy's government has announced Monday it will provide 10 motor launches and two ships, as well as an unspecified amount of equipment and other material, to the Libyan Coast Guard service, in order to increase its capacity to intercept and bring back illegal migrants from the Mediterranean Sea.

Never Trumper, and EIC of The Daily Wire, Ben Shapiro, appeared on HBO's "Real Time With Bill Maher" Friday evening and said Trump is too stupid to have colluded with Russia but if he did collude, he's happy to see the Mueller indictments and ultimately happy to see Trump impeached.

"Collusion" isn't even a federal crime, so there's that.

The Mueller witch hunt is a political hit job by the Deep State. It's riddled with conflicts of interest and a crime hasn't even been named. Mueller's and Rosenstein's philosophy is 'show me the man and I'll find the crime.'

Obama's corrupt FBI planted spies in Trump's campaign in order to create a 'Russian collusion' narrative.

Obama's corrupt officials illegally unmasked members of Trump's campaign and obtained FISA warrants on Carter Page by using a fake, Hillary-funded dossier compiled by a former British spy.

Comment: Gateway Pundit is taking a pretty hard stance on Shapiro. In the video Shapiro refers to himself as a 'sometimes' Trumper, not 'never' Trumper, which is a probably a healthier position to adopt then having blind faith in a leader. It's so impossible to deny the obvious, even BBC showed positive reports from Nikolskaya St. The Swedish officials who mentioned boycotting the World Cup now plan to come to support their team. Even the US President, whose State Department has urged not to visit Russia for safety purposes, speaks extremely well of the World Cup.

Comment: THIS is why they tried to take the tournament off Russia. This is why they tried to get it cancelled, moved, whatever. This is why they conducted black ops like the Skripal Affair and non-stop fake news about how god-awful Russia and Russians are.

They dreaded what would happen when 2 million foreigners actually visited the place - including around 80,000 Americans - and had a grand old time.

Portland Police revoke permit after riot breaks out as protesters clash downtown

Portland Police declared a riot Saturday after tensions between the right-wing Patriot Prayer group and local anti-fascist activists came to a head and broke out in violence.

The afternoon began with a permitted rally at Terry Schrunk Federal Plaza organized by Joey Gibson, U.S. Senate candidate for Washington and leader of the right-wing, Vancouver-based group.

A counter-demonstration by masked local anti-fascist groups gathered nearby among a heavy police presence. Officers seized weapons such as utility knives, clubs and chemical sprays, detaining several protesters early on.

Portland Police made four arrests during the demonstrations, none of them connected to the events of the day.

Tusitala "Tiny" Toese, 22, and Donovon Flippo, 23, were arrested upon arriving at Terry Schrunk Plaza for an alleged assault in Portland earlier in the month.

You actually believe the New York Times is too nice to him, so you understand why a Manhattan woman urged a reporter there to stop covering Trump to protest his presidency.

And where the hell is Robert Mueller? He was supposed to save us from this nightmare - that's what Chuck Schumer banked on. Well?

You spend your tax cut even as you rail against the man who made it happen. And you are pleased that cousin Jimmy finally got a job, though you repeat the daily devotional that Barack Obama deserves credit for the roaring economy.

And now this - Justice Anthony Kennedy is retiring, and Trump gets another Supreme Court pick. The court might tilt right for the rest of your life. He's winning.

A string of high-profile hard-right 'influencers' have very publicly joined Ukip, sparking an influx of their young, largely alt-right followers into the party's membership.

Last week, YouTube personalities Paul Joseph Watson, Sargon of Akkad, Count Dankula and former tech blogger Milo Yiannopoulos announced they were joining the ailing party.

And the party has welcomed their new members, who prefer to label themselves 'classical liberals' or 'radical centrists' rather than 'alt-right'.

What unites them is a fundamentalist, almost fanatical defence of 'freedom of speech'.

In practice, that often means the freedom to say whatever they want and attack whomever they please, however they please to their enormous and engaged social media following, without consideration or consequence.

Comment: Wait, isn't that exactly what this writer did just now? Isn't that what all mainstream news outlets do everyday? In fact, aren't they the ones taking it to such an extreme that they get very close (if not are) to publishing libel / slander or just outright lies that are read by millions of people?

Comment: The 'risk' is worth a lot more than the 'irrelevance'. Free speech is the foundation with which society can make real progress, both at an individual level and collective level. The point being, that in order for us to discover, learn and navigate in the world we need to be exposed to dangerous ideas, otherwise, how would we ever learn to recognize such if one couldn't speak out against it? How would we ever learn to distinguish truth from lies?

Four lions poisoned & butchered for suspected use in 'black magic' rituals

Four lions were beheaded and chopped up for body parts at a wildlife park in South Africa for suspected use in 'black magic' rituals. Images of the horrific scenes have been shared by the animal park.

Six lions, including two cubs, were poisoned by poachers - the four adult lions had their heads decapitated and some paws cut off.

Mystic Monkeys & Feathers Wildlife Park in Pretoria confirmed the lion massacre on its Facebook page condemning it as"senseless and heartless."

"To see these beautiful animals so mutilated is a pitiful disgrace," Christa Saayman, proprietor of the park told IOL. The suspects reportedly threw chicken heavily laced with poison into the lions' enclosure.

Although much is made of the political and cultural left, few realize that this creature is long extinct. Once it stood for stronger unions, economic equality, better working conditions and organized labor. Such was its root, its reality, from which it has fully severed itself.

This means that the left now chases utopias - from multiculturalism to environmentalism and green initiatives, from the "rights" industry and intersectionality to gender-fluidity, from anarchism and communism to ever-morphing liberalism, from abortion and euthanasia to the cult of Trump-hatred by self-styled sophisticates. In each case, the logic is the same: Shoehorn reality into theory, and mold humanity into the confines of ideology.

And, because it is now rootless, the left is all things to many agendas, and thus stands for nothing. The only coherence it possesses is progressivism, whereby all that ails society is to be cured by economics and technology, whose anodynes are doled out by politicians in thrall to "experts," who in turn cannot help but contradict each other.

Senate approves bill to legalize hemp, introduces bill to decriminalize cannabis

It is no secret that in America, political change is a slow and agonizing process. For years, lawmakers have paid lip service to the topic of decriminalizing cannabis while millions have continued to suffer as their medicine remains "illegal" and millions more are arrested for possessing a plant that is legal, in some form, in over half of the country.

Thankfully, the United States Senate has finally begun to take meaningful steps towards rectifying this injustice.

This week, the Senate overwhelmingly approved the 2018 Farm Bill with a vote of 86-11, which includes a provision that would legalize the cultivation, processing, and sale of industrial hemp. This vote comes just two weeks after the legislation was approved by the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition, and Forestry, with a vote of 20-1.

While hemp is typically demonized because it is the product of a variety of the cannabis plant, it is non-psychoactive and is not a "drug." Hemp has the potential to be used in more than 25,000 products, including fibers, textiles, paper and construction and insulation materials - which may explain why the federal government has spent years trying to keep it from the public.

A Philippines mayor, who paraded drug suspects around his city and at the same time allegedly had drug ties himself, was shot dead - possibly by a sniper - during a flag-raising event. The shocking murder was caught on video.

Mayor Antonio Halili of Tanauan city in Batangas province south of capital Manila was targeted by an unknown perpetrator on Monday morning. He died from his wounds on the way to the hospital. "The bullet went through his chest," Superintendent Renato Mercado, Tanuan police chief, told local media.

In amateur footage Halili is seen standing in a line with government employees singing the national anthem "Lupang Hinirang" in front of city hall. As camera shifts to another group, a single shot is heard, followed by screams and people scattering.
