The suspect behind the Finsbury Park terrorist attack may have intended to target a pro-Palestinian march, but got drunk, missed it, and went for the North London worshipers instead.

Father-of-four Darren Osborne is said to have told locals at a Cardiff pub on Saturday he was "going to do something about them" after finding out about the protest in London planned for the next day.

According to the pub's landlord, Andy Parker, Osborne spent the evening ranting about the Al Quds day rally, which highlights the oppression of Palestinians. But the alleged attacker went on a bender and reportedly passed out in the cab of the van he allegedly used on Monday to mow down a group of people.
"The gentleman came in and was very political with everyone he spoke to," Parker told the Telegraph.

"He was very motivated about the Muslim Al Quds day rally going on on Sunday in London and kept saying: 'Our brothers and sisters are dying and someone needs to do something about it.'"

Before the Grenfell Tower blaze had died down to a smouldering monument to the tragic death of possibly hundreds of, so far, unidentified victims, trapped in the molten edifice, Channel 4 produced a program showcasing the Al Qaeda affiliated White Helmets, holding up banners in "solidarity" with the London firefighters tackling the inferno of Grenfell Tower.

With no regard for the ever-mounting evidence, exposing the White Helmets as Al Qaeda co-workers and enablers in Syria, Channel 4 once again promoted this group of NATO and Gulf state funded criminals, as heroes. The genuine firefighters in London should be insulted that their own valiant efforts are compared or conflated with a fraudulent group of terrorists and petty criminals who campaign for war to ensure further bloodshed in Syria.

London's Grenfell Tower burned for over 24 hours, a massive and deadly blaze so intense, it swiftly charred nearly the entire 1,000-unit structure — consuming newly-installed aluminum outer panels and virtually anything in its path — leaving at least 17 dead, injuring scores more, and igniting a political firestorm in the process.

But the 24-story building — its apartments gutted beyond repair — did not crumble into its own footprint.

It's still standing.

In fact, according to several reports from the fire brigade on scene, several small fires inside Grenfell Tower remained smoldering well into today — the residential building's charred sarcophagus now being investigated to determine cause — meaning, firefighters adhering to stringent safety precautions are perusing the severely crippled structure.

The iconic al-Nuri mosque in Mosul, Iraq has been blown up by Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) terrorists, news agencies report citing the Iraqi military.

The historical mosque in the Old City was particularly famous for its leaning minaret. It has now been destroyed, Reuters reported on Wednesday, citing an Iraqi military statement.

Previously, IS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi had declared the Islamic caliphate in the mosque, AP reported citing an Iraqi officer.

The Border department of the FSB in the Trans-Baikal region reported the detention of a US citizen when attempting to cross the Russian-Chinese border.

According to Gazeta.ru, the detained admitted that he engaged in hacking and hacker attacks of government web resources (various countries) and commercial espionage. The hacker goes by the name of David Charles who decided to flee the United States through Alaska. The border guard noted that the man had a fake passport of a citizen of the United Republic of Tanzania and acquired a bank card to someone else's name.

US Attorney General Jeff Sessions has announced that a dozen cities will receive additional federal agents to combat violent crime.

The list includes: Birmingham, Alabama; Springfield, Illinois; Indianapolis, Indiana; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Lansing, Michigan; Kansas City, Missouri; Buffalo, New York; Cincinnati and Toledo, Ohio; Jackson and Memphis, Tennessee; and Houston, Texas.

"Our nation's violent-crime rate is rising. In many of our urban areas, this increase is staggering," Sessions said.

According to the FBI's Uniform Crime Report, there was an overall increase of 5.3 percent in the number of violent crimes in the US for the first six months of 2016, compared with the same period in 2015. However, even with this one-year increase in crime, the US is said to be at a 51-year low.

Chicago, which accounts for a large share in the rise in the nation's homicide rate, is notably not on Sessions' list. The Justice Department said it expected that more cities would be added later, pointing that additional agents had already been sent to Chicago.

America’s oligarchs are set to maintain their grip on the majority of the country’s wealth, with a new study claiming that they will control 70 percent of national wealth by 2021.
A new study by the Boston Consulting Group has found that while wealth inequality is growing on a global scale, it has kicked into overdrive in the United States - where America's 1% are expected to control 70 percent of the nation's private wealth by the year 2021.

America's rich just won't quit getting richer, according to a new study released in mid-June by the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), a global management consulting firm. The study, which seeks to analyze the global wealth management industry, as well as the evolution of private wealth, uncovered some startling statistics that suggest that global financial inequality will grow significantly by the year 2021.

The firm found that the already massive gap between the world's wealthy elite - the approximately 18 million households that hold at least than $1 million in assets - and everyone else is continuing to widen at a remarkable rate. The estimated 70 million people who make up these households were found to control 45 percent of the world's $166.5 trillion in wealth. And in just four more years, it is estimated that they will control more than half of the world's wealth, despite representing less than 1 percent of the world's current population.

London police tase and arrest mosque attacker wielding a shoehorn

A man was tased by police after attacking people at a mosque in central London with a shoehorn on Tuesday night. The incident is not being treated as terrorism.

The incident took place at Regent's Park mosque around 1:20am local time, when police were called to deal with a man waving "an item" at worshippers during Ramadan taraweeh prayers.

Witness Maria Idrissi said on Twitter the attacker "went into Regent's Park mosque during taraweeh and tried to attack a man but luckily [was] stopped by police and detained outside."

"This ain't gonna stop is it.. police had to teaser [sic] him down," a witness by the Twitter username of @RafatPlayDirty wrote.

"Everyone is fine this time the security team done [sic] an exceptional job and credit to the police came within a minute," she added after the incident was under control.

The unnamed man was shot with 50,000 volts while officers pushed worshippers back. He was arrested on suspicion of affray. Later the man was placed in the back of a police van and sent to a central London police station.

Former Navy SEAL and CIA agent arrested on drugs charges

James Dennis Smith, a former CIA special agent and US Navy SEAL, was arrested Saturday in connection with a national drug smuggling investigation.

Smith, 49, was arrested in Charlotte, North Carolina, the same day authorities also picked up Bryon and Carl Rye, two brothers based in South Carolina, as part of the investigation.

A criminal complaint states that all three men were charged with distributing at least 1,540 pounds of marijuana since 2014, a crime that could land them in prison for five to 40 years.

A storage unit belonging to Carl Rye, 41, contained marijuana that was seized, and though the pot was legally grown in California for medical purposes, the criminal complaint said it was marked as being "unlawful to distribute."

A Brooklyn financier was found naked and dead in his tony Dumbo pad — after a gay bondage hookup went awry, police sources said Tuesday.

Neil Rodney Smith, 57, CEO of the investment firm Infraccess, was discovered lying on his back in bed with a wet towel stuffed in his mouth and a pillow over his face inside the apartment at 1 Main St. around 1:45 p.m. Monday, police sources said.

"He went online and hooked up with some guy and, whatever they were doing, he died", a police source said.

Not long before his death, "A roommate heard a guy in there with him. He heard them having sex," the source added.

Sounds from the room stopped, and a roommate later found Smith dead, the police source said.
