Ukrainian officials begin 'stabilization' process in Kherson, police, national radio, TV return

Ukraine force enter Kherson
Ukraine force enter Kherson
Ukrainian officials and local residents moved to stabilize conditions in the freshly recaptured southern city of Kherson, as Russian symbols were being torn down and with the restoration of Ukrainian radio and television service and a new police presence.

The action on November 12 came after months of occupation by Russian forces following their unprovoked invasion of Ukraine in February and as Ukrainian and Western officials hailed Kyiv's latest "extraordinary" battlefield success and Moscow's "strategic failure."

Comment: Gotta get that "unprovoked" in there. Just ignore the eight years of attacks on civilians in Donbass and LPR. And there was nothing to "stabilize". The Russians left the city in a calm, organized way. Well, they did blow all the bridges in the area on the way out, but, ya know . . . . .

Separately, Russian occupying forces said late on November 12 that they were preparing to leave the city of Nova Kakhovka, the site of a damaged dam on the Dnieper River, to a safer location, according to Russian state-run TASS news agency.

Comment: RFE/RL paints a pretty picture for the West's consumption. This is the reality:

"Process was expedited this evening to mitigate damage upon observing unauthorized transactions."

Clown world: UK airline to allow male pilots and cabin crew to wear make-up and carry handbags regardless of gender and sexual identity

British Airways will allow male pilots to wear make-up and carry handbags in an overhaul of the airliner's strict uniform rules.

Airline bosses reportedly told staff in an internal memo yesterday 'be bold, be proud, be yourself' and said they hoped the refreshed guidance would be 'embraced by everyone regardless of gender, gender identity, ethnicity, background, culture, sexual identity, or otherwise'.

BA was said to be nearing the end of a review of its longstanding uniform policy after rival Virgin Atlantic announced it was making its traditional male and female uniform gender-neutral.

Its uniform guidelines have traditionally been divided by gender, but recently it has tried to modernise its image and last year dropped 'ladies and gentlemen' in announcements in a bid to make 'all customers feel welcome'.

Student loan borrowers cannot apply for forgiveness at this time.

A federal judge in Texas struck down the Biden administration's plan Thursday evening. The decision "was about as wrong and weird as any federal court ruling I can recall reading," said Laurence Tribe, a Harvard law professor.

The Biden administration has stopped accepting applications for federal student loan forgiveness after a court struck down its plan on Thursday evening.

Comment: The student loan issue is a thorny problem. On the one hand, taking on debt in hopes of bettering one's future prospects through education seems a good idea. And those takers being ensnared in a predatory regime condemning them to decades of debt slavery would seem deserving of help. On the other hand, if the loan was used to take some useless gender/race/feminist "studies" degree that has no relevance in the real world, then it seems one ought to take the consequences. The only groups that have benefited from the scheme are the colleges and the lending institutions. On the other hand; The crux of the matter is how the compounding interest is calculated:

Project Veritas: Ballot box keys left unattended on top of Philadelphia ballot drop box on election night

voter fraud

Project Veritas on Wednesday released footage of keys left unattended on top of a ballot drop box in Philadelphia on election night.

A board of elections worker secured the keys and told a Project Veritas journalist he was told "not to engage" with reporters who found the keys.

Philadelphia board of elections worker Kevin Richardson told PV, "I'm not in charge of knowing" why the keys were left unattended.

Comment: The Post Millenial noted that this information came as "Philadelphia announced that there would be a delay in counting votes after reinstating a process to detect duplicate ballots."

Europe is in trouble as FOUR more of France's nuclear power stations to go offline over winter

france nuclear power
© SpiritrespectHalf the French Nuclear Fleet will not be back in time for winter and there is no other nation that fill the gap.
The core baseload of the European grid is in trouble, and there is no back up. If the rest of Europe had enough coal or nuclear power, this wouldn't be so bad, but they were all too worried about heatwaves in 2100 they forgot...

This is bad news for Europe. Half of France's nuclear power fleet were already out of action and EDF was hoping to bring "all of them" back online for winter. But they've just announced that at least four plants they planned to restart will suffer a major delay. France's electricity prices have hit €1,000 per MWh for January delivery. (Which is a blockbuster $1,500 AUD).

Comment: France's nuclear plants being down for scheduled maintenance was reasonable, however they then suffered a number of repeated and unusual delays, which was rather curious, but with more being taken offline, and during Europe's self-inflicted energy crisis, it's all beginning to look rather suspicious:

Eli Lilly stocks dive after parody Twitter account promises free insulin, takes down other pharma stock along with it

eli lilly tweet
Elon Musk's new pay-for-play verification system on Twitter shook pharmaceutical mainstay Eli Lilly (LLY) — leading LLY stock to skid Friday — after a fake account claimed "insulin is free now."

The tweet went live around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday from an account claiming to be Eli Lilly. It remained online for several hours, gaining steam from hundreds of retweets and thousands of likes. As of Friday morning, the fake account is no longer verified and its tweets are now private.

But that didn't stop LLY stock from falling 2.2% near 360.70 in morning trades on today's stock market.

Comment: More on the story from Twitter:

There appears to be some truth to the claim with the following from Market Watch reported on the 3rd of November:
Tandem Diabetes Care Inc. shares plummeted more than 20% after the company reported earnings Wednesday, continuing a decline that has already cost the company two-thirds of its market value this year and has been partially blamed on the inability of many Americans to afford the potentially life-saving technology.

Democracy in action: Ukraine's top oil company workers issue plea to Zelensky after gov't takeover

Workers of one of Ukraine's largest oil and natural gas companies, Ukrnafta, have made a personal appeal to President Vladimir Zelensky to intervene in the takeover of the company's head office.

A letter on behalf of 20,000 employees was published on the company's official Facebook page on Thursday. It claims that armed men from Ukraine's Security Service and Economic Security Bureau have been blocking workers from entering the Ukrnafta building for three days now. They still haven't presented a court decision authorizing the move, the letter reads.

"For the third day, armed persons have been in the office of Ukrnafta, they do not allow employees to work, block all operational activities of the company and interfere with the performance of normal operational processes," the message states.

The workers claim that all of Ukrnafta's bank accounts have also been blocked during this time and that all of the company's activity has essentially been halted.

UN official admits no evidence to substantiate earlier accusations of Russian soldiers sexually assaulting civilians in prank call

Pramila Patten
© Global Look Press / Luiz RampelottoUN Special Representative on Sexual Violence in Conflict Pramila Patten
The UN special representative on sexual violence, Pramila Patten, admitted she possesses no solid evidence to substantiate earlier accusations against Russia, in a mock call with pranksters Vovan and Lexus. Last month, Patten claimed that Russian soldiers used mass sexual assault as part of a military strategy in Ukraine.

"This is the information, which I got when I was in Kiev on May 3 from survivors and service providers," she is heard saying in a video published by the Russian prankster duo on Thursday. Vovan and Lexus posed as Aleksandr Merezhko, the head of the Ukrainian parliament's Foreign Affairs Committee. According to Patten, the "service providers" who reported this information to her were carrying out "door-to-door" enquiries and were "referring to Mariupol."

The Azov Sea port city of Mariupol was already largely controlled by Russian forces in early May, with Ukrainian troops holed up at the Azovstal steel plant. The Russian military allowed the UN and the International Committee of the Red Cross to evacuate civilians from the city, but there were no reports about Ukrainian 'service providers' carrying out door-to-door enquiries there.
