Elon Musk made a long-awaited announcement on Friday, saying that The Babylon Bee's account had been reinstated on Twitter, along with Canadian psychologist Dr. Jordan Peterson. Musk also brought controversial B-celeb Kathy Griffin back to the platform. As to the fate of Donald Trump's Twitter account, that is still up in the air. "Trump decision has not yet been made," Musk said.

"New Twitter policy is freedom of speech, but not freedom of reach," Musk said. "Negative/hate tweets will be max deboosted & demonetized, so no ads or other revenue to Twitter."

"You won't find the tweet unless you specifically seek it out, which is no different from rest of Internet," he continued.

Electricity prices in Italy set an all-time record in October, the country's oldest consumer association Unc reported on Thursday.

Prices for electricity, which is being sold in the Apennines on the free market, have surged 329% since October last year, and topped the Unc rating of the most expensive goods and services.

International flights followed power tariffs, with an annual increase in costs equaling 113%. Gas was next in the ranking, with prices surging more than 96% compared to last year.

Comment: And there is no reason to think the situation is going to improve anytime soon, with governments across Europe making preparations for the predictable unrest that will result from their self-inflicted destruction of their economies:

Distraught PA mother blames teachers for her daughter's mastectomy

Linda Mullins
A Pennsylvania mother gave an emotional speech at a school board meeting last month, telling the story of how her daughter was allowed to change her name and pronouns at school, without her knowledge or consent, an action that she believes set her child on a path towards taking testosterone and having a bilateral mastectomy.

Linda Mullins held up a photograph of her daughter that was taken as she entered Grade 9 in the Souderton Area School District. During that school year, Mullins said that the messaging her daughter received in the classroom led to her identifying as a boy and changing her name and pronouns, something Mullins said she didn't discover until she attended an open house event at the school.

High school teen: My school punished me for saying a male shouldn't be allowed to watch me undress

Blake Allen playing volleyball
Blake Allen playing volleyball. The school opened her locker room to a biological male who identifies as a girl.
As a girl, I was taught to respect the privacy of my body, and to speak up if I felt unsafe or if something made me feel uncomfortable. Now I'm 14 and shocked to learn not all adults take you seriously when you say you don't feel safe or comfortable. In fact, they may even punish you for speaking out.

That's what happened to me when I said I didn't think a teenage male should be allowed in the girls' locker room where my teammates and I undress and change. I'm a private person when it comes to my body, even in the safety and comfort of home. But at school, apparently there's no problem with a male student freely watching us girls change our clothes.

It was a conversation I had with some peers in French class that landed me in trouble with the officials at Randolph Union High School in Vermont. Someone overheard me telling my friends that a dude doesn't belong in the girls' locker room, and they reported me to the co-principals, even though the male student didn't hear me and wasn't in the class.

How it feels to visit an apartheid country

Every time I visit Israel and Palestine I come home so struck by the injustice that I say to myself, Well you are a writer, you should be able, in 1000 words or so, to convey the enormity of what you have seen so that the system falls apart like a house of cards for an American reader. This is my latest effort to do just that.

The main impression I had on this visit, is the feeling of Separation. I was bowled over by how separate the Israeli Jews are from the Palestinians, and the huge efforts undertaken to prevent mixing of cultures. When you go through the airport or West Jerusalem or Tel Aviv, you feel like you are in a city in Eastern Europe. I saw no men in the airport in traditional Arab dress. I saw a few women wearing the hijab. You don't see many Arabic signs. You don't see displays of Arab crafts or furnishings, you don't see the sights and smells of Arab markets or streetlife. No, the Zionists brought their own society to the Middle East.

China's National Health Commission on Friday issued 20 rules for "optimising" zero-Covid, where certain restrictions were relaxed to limit its social and economic impact.

Multiple Chinese cities have cancelled routine mass Covid tests this week, days after Beijing announced limited relaxations of its strict zero-Covid policy which raised hopes of China's eventual reopening.

The National Health Commission (NHC) on Friday issued 20 rules for "optimising" zero-Covid, where certain restrictions were relaxed to limit its social and economic impact.

China reported over 20,000 new infections Wednesday — the highest figure since April — with major outbreaks in the cities of Guangzhou and Chongqing.

Extinction Rebellion activists have worn out their welcome and the public is angry

extinction rebellion
When does activism for a cause turn into a narcissistic agenda for attention and self gratification? There's a fine line, and the Extinction Rebellion movement has surely crossed it with their incessant and self-indulgent drama.

This week, motorists in France were greeted with yet another Extinction group trying to glue themselves to the pavement of a major thoroughfare to block traffic in the name of stopping climate change. However, this time drivers did not simply sit around waiting for the police to arrive; instead, they began dragging the activists off the road by force.

Germany preparing for emergency cash deliveries, bank runs and "aggressive discontent" ahead of winter power cuts

cah machine
While Europe has been keeping a generally optimistic facade ahead of the coming cold winter, signaling that it has more than enough gas in storage to make up for loss of Russian supply even in a "coldest-case" scenario, behind the scenes Europe's largest economy is quietly preparing for a worst case scenario which include angry mobs and bankruns should blackouts prevent the population from accessing cash.

As Reuters reports citing four sources, German authorities have stepped up preparations for emergency cash deliveries in case of a blackout (or rather blackouts) to keep the economy running, as the nation braces for possible power cuts arising from the war in Ukraine. The plans include the Bundesbank hoarding extra billions to cope with a surge in demand, as well as "possible limits on withdrawals", one of the people said. And if you think crypto investors are angry when they can't access their digital tokens in a bankrupt exchange, just wait until you see a German whose cash has just been locked out.

Officials and banks are looking not only at origination (i.e., money-printing) but also at distribution, discussing for example priority fuel access for cash transporters, according to other sources commenting on preparations that accelerated in recent weeks after Russia throttled gas supplies.

Italy's domestic price index jumped 11.8% in October from a year earlier, the highest since March 1984, official statistics agency ISTAT reported on Wednesday.

The rate picked up from an 8.9% annual increase in September and rose 3.4% on the monthly basis. Meanwhile, EU-harmonized year-on-year price growth hit 12.6% in October, jumping from the prior month's 9.4%.

The "wide speed-up of the growth" in inflation was mainly due to the prices of energy (from +44.5% in September to +71.1%) and food including alcohol (from +11.4% to +13.3%).

To cover, or not to cover, that is the question women are not allowed to answer

hijab masks
In France, it is banned in schools, and in Iran it is mandatory. The French fashion police are interfering with women's freedom while criticizing their counterparts in Iran.

A piece of cloth used by women to cover their hair has become a point of contention. The Orthodox Jewish women and the American Amish women wear head coverings, but when a Muslim woman wears a headscarf (hijab) it becomes an issue.

"We constantly vilify these morality police in Iran and Afghanistan, but in countries like France, if you are wearing the full veil, police will tell you not to wear it and give you a punishment. How is that different?" said Semiha Topal, visiting assistant professor of religious studies at William and Mary.
