Two men have been charged in attacks at four Washington state power substations that left 14,000 people with no power on Christmas Day.

The duo told investigators that their plan was all in order to steal a cash register at a local business, according to the criminal complaint filed Saturday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Washington at Tacoma.

After cutting off power to the area - subjecting people to a cold and dark holiday weekend - the men drilled a hole in the lock of a business and stole its cash register. The overnight attacks on the Pierce County substations cut out power to customers during the holidays and caused about $3 million in damages.

Matthew Greenwood, 32, and Jeremy Crahan, 40, were arrested Saturday and have been charged with conspiracy to damage energy facilities and possession of an unregistered firearm.

Andy Ngo: How a child abduction suspect groomed his victim on Twitter

groomer pedophile Aaron Zeman
Aaron Zeman operated several Twitter accounts where he tweeted sexual posts to a 13-year-old boy
A 26-year-old man accused of kidnapping a 13-year-old Utah boy and taking him across the country is revealed to be a dog fetishist and furry who allegedly groomed the child in disturbing online interactions.

Aaron Zeman, of Arizona, was with the missing child in Grand Island, Neb. when he was arrested on Dec. 28. A gasoline station attendant called police after growing suspicious of the suspect. The child, from Layton, Utah, was reported missing the day prior and a state-wide AMBER Alert was issued.

Zeman, who has accounts on Twitter dedicated to his furry and "puppy play" fetish, used the alias "Hunter Fox," among others.

Return of the masks: UK health chiefs say face coverings should be brought back

Unwell adults should stay at home and wear a mask if they have to go outside, health chiefs said today amid warnings the NHS is facing more pressure than it did during the peak of the pandemic. The Mail has more.
The advice, issued by the U.K. Health Security Agency, also urges parents to keep their child out of school or nursery if they are ill and have a high temperature — classed as 38°C or more.

The actions will help minimise the spread of Covid, flu and scarlet fever which are "circulating at high levels" and are "likely" to keep rising in the coming weeks, it said.

It comes amid stark warnings that the delays for care caused by the NHS crisis are killing 500 patients every week, with top doctors telling Britons that the situation is "much worse" than the darkest days of the Covid pandemic.

Professor Susan Hopkins, Chief Medical Adviser at UKHSA, said adults should "try to stay home when unwell".

Extinction Rebellion will STOP public protests which bring commuters to a standstill as they admit 'little has changed'

Extinction Rebellion is quitting actions that target the disruption of the public.

Protests have caused significant disruption in recent months, frustrating members of the public and prompting tough talk from politicians, with Home Secretary Suella Braverman dubbing them 'extremists'.

The climate action group is aiming to get 100,000 to gather at Parliament on April 21.

The 'do-it-together movement' said: 'This is a big decision. Public disruption has raised the alarm on the climate and ecological emergency incredibly successfully.

'But while the alarm has been raised, nothing has really changed. So in 2023, it's time to try something different.

'This year, we will prioritise attendance over arrest, relationships over roadblocks.

Comment: Has Extinction Rebellion come to understand that provoking the public to hate you isn't the best way of getting people to listen to you? Or have enough of them been arrested and are now facing the consequences of illegal actions.

Australia defies health advice on Covid tests for Chinese arrivals

The opposition has slammed the government over new restrictions for travelers, claiming they create "chaos and confusion".

Australian opposition leader Peter Dutton has accused the government of ignoring medical advice on Covid-19 restrictions by forcing passengers arriving from China to undergo mandatory testing.

On Sunday, Canberra announced that starting from January 5, people traveling from China will have to test negative for Covid-19 within 48 hours prior to the trip. This appears to contradict the advice of Chief Medical Officer Paul Kelly, who previously stated that he did not "believe that there is sufficient public health rationale to impose any restriction or additional requirements on travelers from China."

MindGeek: A deep dive on the secret monopoly of internet pornography and its dodgy criminal dealings

Favian Thylmann pornhub
Fabian Thylmann, German programmer and businessman behind the origins of MindGeek.
Who owns a monopoly on the internet pornography industry? Why are its owners kept secret and hidden behind a web of subsidiary companies? What are MindGeek's ties to organized crime families?

Pornography, the erotic portrayal of sexually explicit content, has been feeding the base appetites of men since prehistoric times. The internet pornography of today, however, is a far cry from busty Upper Paleolithic Venus figurines and Athenian vases, or even your grandfather's Playboy magazine. What young men have to contend with today is not a bodaciously-carved piece of rock or glossy centerfolds, but millions of free and instantly streamable videos of endless variety at their fingertips accessible at the typing of just four letters into Google.

On any given day, 68 million porn related search queries are generated, 116,000 of which are queries related to child pornography. 40 million Americans are regular visitors of porn sites. 35% of all internet downloads are pornographic. At any given second, over 28,000 people online are watching porn on the internet, and on average $3,000 per second is spent on porn sites. 87.5% of men and 28.5% of women aged 18-35 watch porn at least weekly.

REPORT: Majority of content on Mastodon social media site is child porn

mastodon logo
An investigation conducted by Secjuice has revealed that some of the largest communities within the social media platform Mastodon are communities containing child pornography. Mastodon first experienced a "flood of child porn" being posted in their communities in 2017, and by 2022, the two largest child pornography communities were second and third on the leaderboards, with only mastodon.social having more users.

Mastodon was only a year old when, on April 14, 2017, they experienced a surge in new users. This saw the platform grow from 160,000 to about 300,000. The two communities that contained child exploitation content became the first and second largest communities in the "fediverse," or a network of interconnected servers and websites based on decentralized networking protocols. These communities overtook the platform's mastodon.cloud and mastodon.social communities.

Ontario College Of Psychologists attempt to strip Jordan Peterson of his license

jordan peterson
Canadian psychologist and author Dr. Jordan Peterson could be stripped of his license to practice clinical psychology over his sharing of political posts on social media. The College of Psychologists of Ontario which regulates the profession in his home province has disciplined Peterson over the sharing of political posts on Twitter.

Peterson says he got in hot water with the College because he retweeted posts about PM Justin Trudeau, Conservative Party leader Pierre Poilievre, Trudeau advisor, Gerald Butts, New Zealand PM Jacinda Ardern, and others.

The College has ordered Peterson to undergo mandatory social media communication retraining to "modify his objectionable behavior." It's unclear what it is about the Tweets or the sharing of them that may violate the College's Code of Ethics. Either way, Peterson says he will not comply.

Comment: More from Reclaim the Net:
...

Peterson added that this "re-education" order from the College of Psychologists of Ontario was based on complaints about his public statements on Twitter and The Joe Rogan Experience (JRE) podcast.

According to Peterson, there were only around a dozen complaints in total which had been made over a four-year period and many of the complainants "falsely claimed that they were or had been clients of mine."

"None of the complainants involved in the current action were clients of mine, past or present, or were even acquainted with any of my clients)," Peterson tweeted.

"We are now in a situation in Canada under @JustinTrudeau where practicing professionals can have their livelihoods and public reputations threatened in a very serious manner for agreeing with the Official Opposition and criticizing major government figures," Peterson added. "If I comply the terms of my re-education and my punishment will be announced publicly. I have already had the second most serious category of punishment levied against me and have been deemed at high risk to 're-offend.'"

Peterson claimed that these types of ultimatums from regulatory agencies are becoming "more widespread" because "SJW [social justice warrior types] have weaponized the domain of professional misconduct complaints and the Colleges themselves have become bastions of woke sensibility [sic]."

Additionally, Peterson asserted that Canadian regulatory agencies' use of similar tactics in fields such as law and healthcare is intimidating practitioners and making the advice they give "dangerously unreliable":
"Canadians: your physicians, lawyers, psychologists and other professionals are now so intimidated by their commissar overlords that they fear to tell you the truth. This means that your care and legal counsel has been rendered dangerously unreliable."

This isn't the first time the College of Psychologists of Ontario has taken action against Peterson over tweets he made publicly on his personal social media accounts.

Last year, Peterson was investigated by the regulatory body after someone complained about a tweet where he wrote "You're free to leave at any point" in response to McGill University medicine professor Roger Palfree's concerns about overpopulation. Peterson said the complaint that triggered this investigation didn't come from Palfree, the person he was responding to.

Peterson's experience reflects the increased attempts to sanction the speech of licensed professionals in Canada. The Canadian province of British Columbia (BC) recently passed a law that can result in doctors being jailed for up to two years if they're deemed to have spread certain types of "false or misleading information."

German Ethics Council Chairwoman: Investigation of corona debacle "Dangerous To Democracy"

Twisted views

An investigation of the Corona policies debacle would be "dangerous to democracy", claims German Ethics Chairwoman Alena Buyx.

© German Ethics CouncilInvestigation of the Corona debacle would be “dangerous to democracy”, claims German Ethics Chairwoman Alena Buyx.
Many have noticed: Once outspoken COVID restrictions and vaccine proponents just don't want to talk about it anymore, and are wishing the whole thing to be forgotten.

Not only has the economic and mental health damage been of immense dimensions, but so has the loss of life resulting from the measures, especially the vaccines, have conservatively run in the hundreds in Germany alone. Injuries have run into the tens of thousands. Excess mortality has skyrocketed.

Hence it's little wonder today those responsible for having promoted and enacted these damaging measures are now politically behaving like the reckless hit-and-run drunk driver who wakes up the next day realizing something awful has happened and hopes no one will notice and it will just all go away.

One example is Alena Buyx, Chairperson of the German Ethics Council, which served to provide the needed moral cover whenever the German government imposed cruel lockdowns and experimental vaccinations against the will of many people. Buyx was an outspoken promoter of mass vaccination and the restrictive measures.

Eurozone's 'kamikaze' interest rate rises could collapse currency and cause severe economic crisis in Italy

The European Central Bank's decision to raise interest rates in the Eurozone is likely to lead to a collapse of the Euro and to a severe economic crisis in Italy, analysts have warned. Some described the ECB's policy decision as "kamikaze" and said it would condemn the Eurozone to a prolonged recession. Earlier in December, the ECB announced it would be raising three key interest rates by 50 basis points from December 21.

The standard interest rate has risen from 2 to 2.5 percent, while banks borrowing money from the ECB will now be faced with a charge of 2.75 percent.

The ECB governor justified the hikes as necessary in order to bring inflation under control.
