American Ponzi

Madoff
The first question that came to mind as the closing credits rolled on the Netflix documentary Madoff The Monster of Wall Street was why? Why would they make a movie like this that connects as many dots? The film lays out so many of the obvious truths of how America and the economic systems we have come to depend upon are nothing more than a colossal fiction, a fraud operating at every level and throughout every aspect of our Government, and the institutions we have come to think of as our culture.

And then it hit me.

The purpose of this revelation is to serve as cover for the even larger Ponzi scheme that is SBF about to unravel, and eventually, if I suspect correctly, the death blow that will be discovered when Black Rock is finally shown to be the exact same kind of Ponzi scheme as all the others. When the final downturn in our economic collapse goes into full Krakatoa and wipes out every last vestige of economic stability in the Western World.

What to know about the study behind the push to ban gas stoves

gas stove
A member of the Consumer Product Safety Commission set off an uproar when he said this week that the agency would consider banning gas stoves on the grounds that they pose health risks.

The argument that gas stoves are unsafe and subject to regulation by the commission is premised on research finding a link between stoves and a range of negative health outcomes — most recently, a study published last month found that natural gas stoves are responsible for more than 12% of childhood asthma cases in the United States, a similar risk to exposure to secondhand smoke.

Here's what to know about the study:

The borders of New California will not include California's most densely populated regions like Los Angeles and San Francisco.

America's public schools are losing students, homeschooled children doubles

The pandemic has supercharged a trend that has plagued districts across the U.S. for years — students are fleeing public schools.

Why it matters: Public schools lose funding as they lose students, and some schools have been forced to shutter altogether.
  • That disadvantages the many millions of students — typically lower-income students in cities — who can't turn to private schools or homeschooling.

Comment: What with lockdown tyranny and LGBT ideology, is it any wonder those parents who are able are pulling their children out of public schools?

Russia could raise draft age limit to 30, entry age to be raised to 21 because people 'grow up' later

Russia could raise the upper age limit for citizens to be conscripted into the armed forces as soon as this spring, a senior lawmaker has said, as part of Moscow's plans to boost the number of Russian troops by 30 per cent.

President Vladimir Putin gave his backing in December to defence ministry proposals to raise the age range for mandatory military service to cover Russian citizens aged 21-30, rather than the current range of 18-27.

The chairman of the Russian parliament's defence committee, Andrei Kartapolov, said in an interview with the official parliamentary newspaper that Russia could raise the upper age limit for conscription to 30 for this year's spring draft. But only after a one-to-three year "transition period" would the lower limit be raised from 18 to 21 years, Kartapolov said.

Comment: Top War reported on the officially admitted losses back in September, and they are much lower than the total claimed above:
According to him, the losses of the Russian group within the NMD, starting from February 24, 2022, amounted to 5937 people. Shoigu did not provide information on the wounded, but based on the ratio of the dead to the wounded as 1 to 3, their number should be approximately 18-20 thousand. Prior to this, the Ministry of Defense only once spoke about our losses and it happened in March. At that time, we lost 1351 people dead, there were over 3,8 thousand wounded.
I can't say enough about losses. Losses amount to 5937 people. And here again and again I cannot fail to note our guys who courageously do their duty - the minister said.
Most likely, this figure does not include the losses of the NM units of the DPR and LPR, as well as the "musicians" from the Wagner PMC. The first and second corps of the NM will enter the structure of the Ministry of Defense only after the republics join Russia. At the initial stage, the Armed Forces of Ukraine were about 201-202 thousand people. During this time, more than 100 thousand of their losses. At the same time, the dead - 61 thousand 207 people and the wounded - 49 thousand 368 people
- added the head of the Ministry of Defense.
Top War also reported on the proposals to change the age for conscription back in December:
The need to raise the draft age is associated with the consequences of general socio-cultural transformations in modern society. Now young people "grow up" later than their peers of the past decades. An increase in the age of conscription for military service will make it possible to conscript physically and psychologically mature young men into the army.

U.S. drug regulators acknowledged deviating from the normal vaccine approval process when dealing with Pfizer's COVID-19 shot, according to newly disclosed documents.

Weeks after Pfizer and its partner BioNTech announced they started a rolling submission of documents for approval of their COVID-19 vaccine, a U.S. Food and Drug Administration official penned a memorandum authorizing the release of a Biologics License Application (BLA) number for the shot even as regulators weighed whether to approve the BLA, one of the documents shows.

"This deviation from our normal practice is done to facilitate product labeling and distribution and is consistent with other Center practices to facilitate vaccine delivery during the declared Public Health Emergency," Christopher Joneckis, the FDA's associate director for review management, wrote in the June 17, 2021, memo. "When providing the license number, we should communicate that this license number does not constitute any determination by FDA on the application."

What US Republicans could do with their new anti-China committee

At the beginning of the year, the Republican Party took control of the US House of Representatives, after their victory in the November midterm elections. Following internal party struggles and gridlock over the election of the new speaker, the House voted to create a new Congressional Select Committee on China, aiming to intensify US competition against Beijing. The Republican Party's pick to lead the new committee, Representative Mike Gallagher of Wisconsin, has vowed to "win the new Cold War" against China.

The GOP's narrow majority in the House of the Representatives, its laser focus on China, contempt for the US presidency and Speaker Kevin McCarthy's dependency on the party's right wing, spells further trouble for the US-China relationship. While the Biden administration has never been 'friendly' with Beijing, and this is probably one of the few areas of bipartisan agreement left in Washington, things are likely to become even more unpredictable as Republican hawks seek to advance their agenda.
