Glen Ramey, 53, is facing rape and murder charges in the death of an 8-year-old girl.
A southeast Illinois man has been arrested in the rape and killing of an 8-year-old girl who went missing outside of her home last week, authorities said.

Glen Ramey, 53, was taken into custody early Sunday morning on charges of first-degree murder and predatory sexual assault, state police announced.

He was arrested nearly four days after Sabrina Stauffenberg vanished while waiting for a ride to church outside of her home Wednesday. Her body was found hours later near a vinegar plant in Olney, the Belleville News-Democrat reported, citing police.

About a half of all extremists who have returned to Germany after fighting for terrorist groups in Syria and Iraq remain committed to radical ideas, Die Welt daily reports, citing a confidential security services report.

About 48 percent of the jihadists that returned to Germany from the Middle East are still loyal to the extremist cause, says a report jointly prepared by the Hessian Information and Competence Centre against Extremism (HKE), the German Federal Criminal Police, and the domestic intelligence service (BfV), according to Die Welt.

The confidential paper seen by Die Welt also says that about 8 percent of those who came back made "a tactically motivated return to recover or to get money and new equipment" for terrorist groups.

Comment: Interesting that a "confidential" report was allowed to be seen by the press.

The latest poll has shown that the proportion of Russians who favor warmer and closer relations with Western nations is growing fast and has almost reached the historical maximum registered in 2000.

The Levada Russian independent public opinion research center reported on Tuesday that experts had summed up the results of a poll conducted in mid-November and found out that 71 percent of the Russian public support the idea of rapprochement with the West. In comparison with the previous similar poll that was conducted in July last year, this share increased by 21 percent and the center noted in its press release that it was near the all-time maximum of 76 percent registered in March 2000.

The researchers also looked into the changes in Russians' attitude to various foreign nations and found out that 56 percent of Russians claim that their attitude to the United States is still bad. This is down from 64 percent in September and 65 percent in January this year.

Facebook employees are quitting because of new censorship algorithm

Facebook censoership graphic
The war on "fake news" embarked upon by Facebook, Google, and Twitter may be earning the media goliaths brownie points with establishment politicos, but users — and even employees — aren't feeling as enthusiastic.

In the midst of backlash over the stunning victory of President-elect Donald Trump, which some people attribute to the preponderance of apocryphal headlines disseminated by Internet search engines and social media platforms, the companies are tweaking their algorithms in order to target specifically blacklisted sites, many of which happen to be alternative media sites that question the political and media establishment. Many of the sites are also financially dependent on ad revenue earned by organic and referral traffic directed by Google, Facebook, and Twitter.

Amazon employee jumps off company building after e-mail note

Amazon shipping center
An Amazon.com Inc. employee was injured when he leaped off a building at the company's Seattle headquarters in what police characterized as a suicide attempt.

The man, who wasn't identified by authorities, sent an e-mail visible to hundreds of co-workers, including Chief Executive Officer Jeff Bezos, before the incident occurred, according to a person familiar with the matter. The man survived the fall from Amazon's 12-story Apollo building at about 8:45 a.m. local time Monday and was taken to a Seattle hospital, police said.

The man had recently put in a request to transfer to a different department, but was placed on an employee improvement plan, a step that can lead to termination if performance isn't improved, said the person, who asked not to be identified discussing company personnel matters. More than 20,000 people work in multiple buildings at Amazon's headquarters.

"Our thoughts are with our colleague as he continues to recover," Amazon said in a statement. "He's receiving some of the best care possible and we will be there to support him throughout the recovery process."

Psychopathic rant: British neo-Nazi youth leader says 'Hitler was wrong to show Jews mercy'

Jack Renshaw, a spokesman for the British far-right fascist group National Action, is facing a criminal investigation after a recording emerged of him telling a secret meeting that Hitler's only mistake was to have shown the Jewish people "mercy."

In the recording, taken at an event called the Yorkshire Forum earlier this year, Renshaw is heard sharing extreme anti-Semitic views.

"Hitler was right in many senses, but you know where he was wrong? He showed mercy to people who did not deserve mercy," the young man says in the recording, heard by the Times.

"As nationalists, we need to learn from the mistakes of the National Socialists and we need to realize that, no, you do not show the Jew mercy," he added.

Comment: The banality of evil is alive and well - not only among the filth-spouting youth of England - but in the politically correct halls of power in the Western world; the only difference being their respective levels of crudeness, "sophistication" and cunning.

The Oceti Sakowin camp is seen in a snow storm during a protest against plans to pass the Dakota Access pipeline near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation, near Cannon Ball, North Dakota, U.S. November 28, 2016.
North Dakota Governor Jack Dalrymple has issued an executive order for protesters to evacuate a campsite near the Dakota Access Pipeline. Concerns of harsh winter and lack of sanitation were cited as reasons for protesters to leave and not return.

Citing "safety concerns and the potential danger to human life for those camping on federal property without proper shelter during harsh winter conditions," Governor Dalrymple (R) ordered an emergency evacuation of campsites housing protesters demonstrating against the North Dakota Access Pipeline on Monday.

Comment: What a load of nonsense. See this article. Apparently there are plenty of places to camp in the winter in North Dakota, some of which are in state-operated parks! But we're expected to believe that it's dangerous to camp as a protester:
Camping in North Dakota during the winter months is not for everybody, as it gets very cold here come that time of year. That's not to say that you can't enjoy some North Dakota camping in the wintertime, as there are campsites around the state that remain open the whole year through.

In defiance of ISIS, 20 million Shia Muslims mark holy day of Arbaeen in Iraq

Karbala march
In one of the largest organized marches in the history of the world, tens of millions of Shia Muslims made an incredibly heartening statement, by risking their lives to travel through war-stricken areas to openly defy ISIS. This massive event that would have undoubtedly helped to ease tensions in the West was almost entirely ignored by corporate media.

Women, men, elderly, and children made their way to the city of Karbala on Sunday and Monday last week for the holy day of Arbaeen. Arbaeen is the event which marks the end of the 40-day mourning period following Ashura, the religious ritual that commemorates the death of the Prophet Mohammad's grandson Imam Hussein in 680 AD.

As the Independent reports, massive crowds paid homage to the shrines of Imam Hussein and his half-brother Abbas in Karbala, where they were killed in a revolt against the Umayyad ruler Yazeed in the 7th century AD when they refused to pledge allegiance to Yazeed's Umayyad caliphate.

Registering only as a blip on the Independent, this most amazing feat was conducted in spite of ISIS, as well as the sacred annual pilgrimage.

Comment: By some estimates, ISIS is made up of about 100,000 - a statistically insignificant number of so-called Muslims next to so many hundreds of millions more individuals who are not fundamentalist jihadi types. And so, in creating ISIS, we have the US government and other governments of the West - as well as their whorish media to thank for painting more than a billion individuals with a twisted blood-soaked brush.

Homeless for the holidays in America

Homeless for the holidays
© povertyinsights.com
Could you imagine spending the holidays in a homeless shelter, in a tent city surrounded by drug addicts and prostitutes, or in a sleeping bag on the cold, hard streets of an urban jungle? Unfortunately, that is what real life looks like for an increasing number of Americans.

Most of the time when we think of "homeless people", the image that comes into our minds is one of a grizzled old man asking for some spare change, but the truth is that vast numbers of women and children in our country do not have anywhere to live. In fact, Poverty USA has reported that last year a grand total 1.6 million U.S. children stayed either in a homeless shelter or in some other form of emergency housing. And you never hear the mainstream media report this number, but the truth is that the number of homeless children in the United States has risen by 60 percent since the "end" of the last recession. For the moment the wealthy are getting wealthier, but meanwhile things have just continued to get harder and harder for those that are struggling to survive in this economy.

In Wal-Mart parking lots and campgrounds all over America tonight, you will find formerly middle class families that are living in cars, trucks and recreational vehicles during this holiday season. Most of them will never complain and will try to put on a happy face outwardly, but inside the worry and fear are eating them alive.

As the weather gets cold, many homeless Americans head for warmer climates, and this is one of the factors that is fueling the unprecedented homelessness crisis in Los Angeles. The following comes from L.A. Weekly:
By nearly every metric, Los Angeles has the worst homelessness crisis of any city in America. According to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, there are more people suffering from chronic homelessness in L.A. than anywhere in the country, and their number is growing at a faster clip than those in New York City.
