Repealing the 2nd Amendment will just make American gun-owners that much angrier

2nd amendment gun ban
If you strip away legal protections for rights valued by millions of Americans, you're just going to make them angry to no good end.

It's always been true, as gun restrictionists have repeatedly promised, that "nobody's going to take your guns away." But few gun owners have ever believed that was from lack of intent; it was always from the absence of any practical way of implementing such a taking. That's become increasingly clear in the wake of the truly horrific Mandalay Bay massacre as open calls for repealing the Second Amendment's protection for self-defense, and even for banning privately owned guns, get louder.

And still, the increasingly open prohibitionists haven't come up with a proposal to make their plans stick.

Schools in Charlottesville, Virginia have been placed on lockdown after the FBI warned local police about internet comments wishing for a Las Vegas-style shooting in the city.

The FBI had "received information from a post made on a social media message board expressing discontent with recent events in Charlottesville," the city said in a statement on Wednesday.

"The person(s) who posted the message also referenced the recent mass shooting in Las Vegas and expressed their admiration of the shooter. They went on to say that Charlottesville, in particular, schools within the city, should be the next target," the city authorities added.

Weinstein fallout: Kim Dotcom proposes creating secure website to allow victims of Hollywood elite to document abuse and seek damages

kim dotcom hollywood
The recent revelations of the sexual abuse of mega elite Hollywood mogul and fundraiser for the chrony Clinton family, Harvey Weinstein, prove that Hollywood, the mainstream media, and even government officials will cover for or look the other way as sexual predators act out their sick fantasies in front of them.

As the NY Times reports, this sexual harassment did occur in front of everyone and no one said anything about it.
He had an elaborate system reliant on the cooperation of others: Assistants often booked the meetings, arranged the hotel rooms and sometimes even delivered the talent, then disappeared, the actresses and employees recounted. They described how some of Mr. Weinstein's executives and assistants then found them agents and jobs or hushed actresses who were upset.
Even CNN got in on the action by bashing the person who they vehemently defended during the 2016 presidential election, Hillary Clinton.
On Tuesday morning, Virginia Sen. Tim Kaine, the Democratic party's 2016 vice presidential nominee, sat down for an interview on CNN's "New Day." Asked about the allegations of sexual harassment against Harvey Weinstein, the deposed Hollywood mogul, Kaine said: "Any leader should condemn this. These allegations are low-life behavior."

By that definition, the last two Democratic presidents as well as the party's 2016 nominee are not leaders.
While this news should come as no surprise to those who've been paying attention to the claims of abuse inside Hollywood, the recent and negative exposure given to the Hollywood elite is helping to garner attention to this long depraved practice inside the terrifying world known as Tinseltown.

Security personnel stand next to Leonardo da Vinci's "Salvator Mundi" after it was unveiled at Christie's in New York on October 10, 2017.
Fewer than 20 authentic original paintings by Renaissance master Leonardo Da Vinci are known to exist in the modern world. Next month, one of those masterpieces is expected to challenge for the title of most expensive work of art in history.

'Salvator Mundi' a portrait of Jesus Christ dating back to roughly 1500, is due to be sold at Christie's auction house in New York City on November 15. The portrait was long-believed to be lost or destroyed.

"This is truly the Holy Grail of art rediscoveries," said Alan Wintermute, Christie's senior specialist for Old Master paintings, as cited by Reuters.

The painting is expected to fetch up to $100 million at the auction.

"There has never been anything like it sold, and so the market will decide," Wintermute said of the masterpiece.

Environmentalists damage environment as much as anyone else, according to study

Environmentalists who urge others to "go green" to save the planet actually have a carbon footprint as big as anyone else, new research shows.

A study into the habits of activists suggests that while they may behave in a "marginally greener" manner, the difference in their environmental impact is "modest." Besides, conservationists "often engage in environmentally harmful behavior" such as eating meat or using air travel, the study adds.

"Many conservationists undertake environmentally harmful activities... while calling for people as a whole to reduce such behaviors," the study says.

Scientists at Cambridge University found that even though air travel was one of the biggest contributors to greenhouse gases, conservationists took an average of nine flights a year.

The research, published in the journal Biological Conservation, found they failed to score any better on green questions than non-activists. Their findings add to increasing evidence that education and knowledge has little impact on individual behavior.

The study assessed a range of lifestyle choices, including the use of bottled water, air travel, meat consumption and family size. The 734 participants were divided into three groups: conservationists, economists and doctors.

Over 90 percent of citizens say new revolution in Russia is unthinkable

92 percent of Russians hold the view that everything possible should be done to ensure nothing like the 1917 Bolshevik revolution happens again, according to a recent poll conducted by state-run public opinion research agency VTSIOM.

This share of 'counter-revolutionaries' among the Russian public is up from 78 percent five years ago. Only 5 percent of respondents told researchers that they considered a new revolution necessary (13 percent in 2012). Three percent of respondents said that they had no opinion on the issue.

In the same poll, 42 percent of respondents could not say what the objectives perceived by the Bolsheviks and their allies were in 1917. 19 percent said that the revolutionaries wanted to overthrow the government and change the Russian political system and 13 percent opined that they wanted to change life in the country for the better.

Still, 46 percent of the public agreed with the statement that the 1917 revolution was in the interests of the majority of Russians. 13 percent hold that the revolution benefited a minority and 33 percent said that only a small group of people managed to gain anything from the events of 1917.

38 percent of Russians currently think that the 1917 Revolution was a major stimulus for the social and economic development of the country. 23 percent agreed that the revolution "had opened a new era in Russia's history." At the same time, 14 percent of the poll participants said that the revolution had seriously impeded the development of Russia and 13 percent called the events a total disaster. 12 percent remained undecided over the role that the revolution had played in the Russian history.

France: Millions go on strike against Macron's labor reforms

Marseille protest
Public sector unions representing over 5 million French workers are going on a nationwide strike on Tuesday to protest President Emmanuel Macron's labor reforms. Schools, hospitals and transport will be affected, with 30 percent of flights across the country canceled. It's the first time in a decade that all the major unions, representing almost 20 percent of French workers, have united behind a protest call, Le Figaro reported.

"This is very simple. We are rebelling against the laws that Macron has prepared," Didier Del Rey, spokesperson for CGT Paris Commerce, told RT. "These laws go against workers, our rights we fought for and won by workers in the 1950s. Since then the government's done all it can to destroy what social protections there are in the labor code.

Del Rey said that the government favors businesses and "is against workers, from working conditions to salaries. You should know that in the commercial sector, 70 percent of employees earn the minimum wage, which is very tough. This is what we are unhappy about," he said.

He noted that Macron had called workers "slackers" and labelled it a provocation. "Slackers are the people who work hard to earn a living, to feed their family, to pay their debts, their mortgages. This is purely a provocation from the head of state and from the government, meaning that slackers wake up every day to go to their enterprises to work."

Tuesday's strikes promise to be "powerful," trade unions say, with nearly 130 events planned to take place in 90 departments. Marches will take place in Paris, Marseilles, Lyon, Toulouse, Nantes and dozens of other cities across France.

Comment: More than 4000 separate strikes and more than 200 rallies (so far) send a powerful message...including massive work interruption. How does that 'work' for you, Mr. Macronomics?

Women's champion, Hillary Clinton, has spokesperson condemn campaign bundler Harvey Weinstein

KillaryHarvey
© ABC7 New York
Former presidential candidate and so-called women's champion Hillary Clinton has finally made a statement condemning Hollywood mega-donor Harvey Weinstein...through a spokesperson six days after allegations of sexual assault and harassment surfaced in news reports (Weinstein didn't deny them).

Did we really think she'd do it herself? And surprise, she didn't address whether she'll give back his dirty money.

From CNN:
"I was shocked and appalled by the revelations about Harvey Weinstein. The behavior described by women coming forward cannot be tolerated. Their courage and the support of others is critical in helping to stop this kind of behavior." The statement made no mention of returning contributions from Weinstein.

Comment: Eye-on-the-prize Killary: She had to have known this guy was pure sleaze. It's about the money and none of the rest matters. And she's keeping the money (around $250k donated to the Clinton Foundation).

CNN anchor Erin Burnett's tweet was apropos: "HRC spoke for 90 mins last nite, didn't mention Harvey Weinstein. She won't give women a 'pass' for not voting for her, but she gave him one." Some more tweets show the common response to Hillary's abnormal behavior:

Kellyanne Conway responded:

And Juanita Broaddrick, one of Bill Clinton's rape victims:

She told Breitbart:
"Harvey Weinstein and Bill Clinton are cut from the same cloth," Broaddrick charged in an interview with this reporter on Tuesday. "They are both powerful men and had the ability to protect themselves from the rumors and whispers about their well known, deviant and criminal behavior."

"Their victims were bullied into silence while most reporters and those in the 'know' looked the other way," she said.

Broaddrock asserted that "Hillary's entourage waged war on Bill's victims while Weinstein had his own army of Hollywood elite to protect him."

"It's the same scenario over and over with these high profile sexual predators," Broaddrick stated.

"I was reluctant to come forward just like Weinstein's victims were. Our abusers were too powerful and could destroy our livelihood and our world as we knew it."
Even George Clooney is calling for Democrats to return or donate funds provided to them by Weinstein. He added, "If politicians knew these stories, I doubt they'd have been taking donations from him at the DNC." Right. The Blaze sums up some of Weinstein's Dem donations:
  • George's own father, Nick Clooney, who ran for the House in Kentucky in 2004: $4,000
  • Former President Barack Obama: $45,800
  • Former New York senator, secretary of state, and 2016 presidential candidate Hillary Clinton: $26,832
  • Sen. Chuck Schumer (N.Y.): $14,200
  • Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (N.Y): $11,800
  • Former Massachusetts senator, secretary of state, and 2004 presidential candidate John Kerry: $28,000
  • Sen. Cory Booker (N.J.): $17,800
  • Sen. Al Franken (Minn.): $20,000
  • Sen. Kamala Harris (Calif.): $2,500
  • Sen. Elizabeth Warren (Mass.): $5,000
  • Former White House chief of staff and Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel: $2,000
  • The Democratic National Committee: $305,149
  • The Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee: $193,392
  • The Democratic Party of Wisconsin: $10,000
  • The Pennsylvania Democratic Party: $5,000
  • Our Common Values PAC: $15,000
  • Midwest Values PAC: $9,800
  • The Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee: $18,500
  • The Hill PAC: $15,000
  • The Human Rights Committee: $10,000
  • The NJ Democratic State Committee: $2,200
Speaking of Obama, he finally issued a statement as well (also through a spokesperson).

Given the time taken for Obama and Clinton to say anything, you'd be forgiven for thinking the wouldn't have said anything at all if not for the "hypocrisy costs" involved. That have to say something. Even CNN's Dana Bash marvelled at the deafening silence from the Obamas.

Suicide bombers targeted the police headquarters in the Syrian capital city Damascus, SANA news agency reported, citing the Interior Ministry. Two policemen were killed and at least four civilians injured in the attack.

The attack occurred in central Damascus on Wednesday, as the two suicide bombers reportedly tried to access the premises of the police headquarters. When confronted by officers, the perpetrators set off their explosives in front of the building.

The police managed to corner the third suicide bomber near a local market in the same street, at which point he blew himself up.

Two policemen were killed during the attack, and a number of people injured, including four civilians, SANA reports, citing the Damascus police chief. Some of the injured are in a critical condition and the number of victims could rise, the Interior Ministry told SANA.

A video filmed in the aftermath of the incident has emerged on social media, showing moderately damaged police vehicles, blown-out windows and pieces of concrete scattered at the location.
