PENCE MEETS WITH ONE OF PUTIN’S TOP CLERICS
It looks like the close cooperation between Russian and American Christians is gathering steam again.

There was a lot of hobnobbing and event-going during the Obama years, but many American groups felt compelled to back off in 2014 when the Ukraine hostilities and the demonization of Russia in the media reached fever-pitch.

But now those memories are fading, and the same old bonds are pulling the natural allies back together.

The two share a strong affinity based on similar views on gay rights - especially gay marriage, abortion, divorce, homeschooling, large families, Islam, prayer in schools, Hollywood, moral degeneracy, worldwide Christian persecution, and the importance of putting Christian values front and center in society

Comment: Religion is a powerful tool for the establishments throughout history, around the world. Let's hope this is not another US deep state operation. We can assume that Putin is closely watching the developments with a caution.

Comic George Lopez was booed off stage at a gala for juvenile diabetes in Denver last week, over an anti-Donald Trump routine that fell flat with the crowd.

We're told the flap began when Trump backer and Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei donated $250,000 but requested that Lopez cool it with the anti-Trump jokes at the Carousel Ball.

An attendee at the event - where tables sold from $5,000 to $100,000 to benefit the Barbara Davis Center for Diabetes - commented on a YouTube video that "George was asked nicely to stop making Trump jokes by a man in front row [Maffei] who just donated $250K." But "George doesn't, continues. Gets booed."

We're told that Lopez responded to Maffei, "Thank you for changing my opinion on old white men, but it doesn't change the way I feel about orange men."

An enormous arsenal of various weapons and production facilities, plus a fleet of explosive-laden and armored vehicles has been discovered inside the recaptured Islamic State stronghold in Deir ez-Zor province, RT reports from the Al-Mayadeen frontline.

Following in the footsteps of the Tiger Forces, commanded by Syrian Army Brigadier General Suheil Salman al-Hassan, nicknamed 'The Tiger', an RT Arabic crew managed to film a number of warehouses full of weapons that Islamic State (IS, formerly ISIS/ISIL) hastily abandoned, fleeing the city to the eastern side of the Euphrates River.

"Weapons warehouses here were simply huge. I'm just shocked by the amount of weapons I saw," Syrian Army Lt. Col. Rahmi Mauwas told RT at the battlefront. "There are hundreds and even thousands of weapons and ammunition of various kinds."

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange posted a sardonic 'thank you' note addressing US authorities who forced the whistleblowing website into investing in Bitcoin in 2010. The cryptocurrency has seen a 50,000 percent bump in value in the interim.

"My deepest thanks to the US government, Senator McCain and Senator Lieberman for pushing Visa, MasterCard, Payal, AmEx, Mooneybookers, et al, into erecting an illegal banking blockade against @WikiLeaks starting in 2010. It caused us to invest in Bitcoin -- with > 50000% return," Assange tweeted.

For context, Bitcoin reached highs of up to $5,746.51 this week in yet another unprecedented surge in value, The Coin Telegraph reports.

The death toll from two car bomb explosions in Somalia's capital, Mogadishu, has risen to 231, police and hospital sources told AP. The attack has become one of the deadliest in the recent history of the country beset by Islamist insurgency.

Over 200 people were injured in the explosions, AP reported, citing police and hospital sources.

Medics are attempting to help hundreds of victims, many of whom have been burned beyond recognition, AP added.

The first blast happened near the Safari Hotel, close to Somalia's Foreign Ministry. The blast area lies in the center of the city where government offices, hotels, restaurants, and shops are located, police said.

The second explosion took place in the city's Madina district hours later, according to police.

A Mississippi school district has pulled "To Kill a Mockingbird" from eighth grade classrooms because the novel "makes people uncomfortable."

According to The Sun Herald, the school board did not vote on the move, but rather it was an administrative and department decision made on Wednesday or Thursday.

"There were complaints about it. There is some language in the book that makes people uncomfortable, and we can teach the same lesson with other books," Kenny Holloway, Biloxi School Board vice president told the paper. "It's still in our library. But they're going to use another book in the 8th grade course."

The Harper Lee novel has repeatedly appeared on the American Library Association's list of the most banned or challenged books due to repeated use of a racial slur and its exploration of racism and discrimination.

Sending a text to the wrong person can be embarrassing in any circumstances, but imagine how one French operative felt when he realized he'd mistakenly sent a message to a suspected Islamist radical he was collecting data on.

The incident, described in the French media as an "epic fail," occurred last Sunday and was revealed to the M6 broadcaster by a source within in the Interior Ministry.

The agent for the Central Service of Territorial Surveillance (SCRT) was tasked with monitoring a Paris cleric suspected of preaching an extremist interpretation of Islam.

The value of the world's largest cryptocurrency bitcoin has broken the $5,800 mark, hitting another all-time high before retreating to the $5,600-$5,700 level, still close to the maximum.

Its market capitalization is approaching $97 billion. If bitcoin were a company, its market cap puts it in the same league as some of the world's biggest corporations.

The cryptocurrency would be in 77th in PwC's list of the top 100 corporations, bigger than Bayer, Goldman Sachs, UPS, Nike, and Mitsubishi.

Bitcoin is up over 480 percent year-to-date.

The reason behind the rally is talk China may reverse the ban it imposed on cryptocurrency exchanges last month. The Chinese central bank also declared initial coin offerings (ICOs) illegal and banned fundraising through ICOs.

Deputy found liable for excessive force after handcuffing disabled elementary school children

handcuffed boy
A federal lawsuit by the American Civil Liberties Union and the Children's Law Center has finally made progress after a deputy sheriff handcuffed-and seemingly tortured-two small elementary school students who have disabilities.

In an extremely disturbing video, which TFTP reported on in 2015, school resource officer, Kenton County Deputy Sheriff Kevin Sumner, can be seen handcuffing a sobbing 8-year-old boy, referred to in court documents as S.R. The child is so small that Sumner has to lock the child's biceps together behind his back. What makes the case even more appalling is that the child has a history of trauma and has been diagnosed with ADHD.

The other child named in the lawsuit, a girl named in the suit as L.G., was twice handcuffed in the same manner as S.R. She is a special needs student and has also been diagnosed with ADHD.

Neither child was accused of criminal conduct nor were they arrested or charged with a crime, but were being punished for behavior issues.
