German court orders retrial of extremist 'Sharia police' who raided German gatherings

Germany's top court has tossed out a lower court's ruling that found a group of uniformed German Salafists, who wandered the streets of a suburban town telling residents to abide by the strict Muslim code, to be in line with the law.

Germany's Federal Court of Justice ruled on Thursday that the lower court did not taken into account how the vigilantes' actions affected the public of the western German town of Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, and ordered a retrial of the group acquitted in November 2016.

Seven members of the self-styled "Sharia police" were initially charged under the law prohibiting the wearing of uniforms to express political beliefs. However, the Wuppertal court ruled that the men did nothing wrong, stating that the orange vests they were wearing during their controversial raids in September 2014 were not "suggestively militant" or "intimidating." The garments in question had "Sharia police" printed on the back.

Comment: Parts of Germany are starting to resemble Saudi Arabia - one wonders when the backlash will come against the authorities who allowed, and even encouraged, this to happen.

Switzerland targets refugees by rejecting citizenship bids of residents who have been on welfare in past three years

A new civil rights act has come into force in Switzerland that prevents residents who have been on welfare in the past three years from becoming citizens unless they pay back the money they received to the state.

The new regulations will make it impossible for asylum seekers and migrants who have lived off state handouts in the last three years to become citizens even if they have lived in Switzerland as permanent residents for the required time to make a citizenship application, Kronen Zeitung reports.

The previous law allowed migrants to apply for citizenship as long as they were not on state benefits at the time of their application.

Comment: The most effective way to deal with the refugee crisis, as well as the economic migration which is interrelated, would be to cease the western worlds illegal wars and instead support development in the world, much like Russia and China is attempting with the One Belt Road initiative, any other measures will prove to be relatively ineffective:

Manhunt for Michigan couple accused of torturing and murdering their 4-year-old daughter ends

Authorities in Michigan launched a manhunt for a couple accused of torturing and murdering their four-year-old daughter whose battered and burned body was found in a patch of woods on New Year's Day. The couple was finally apprehended Tuesday in southern Georgia, just outside of Florida.

Relatives found the child lying in the woods near the Rawsonville Woods mobile home community in Belleville, Michigan. She was found unresponsive and covered in burns. The child was declared dead after being rushed to a local hospital, the New York Post reported.

Analysis from the Daily Caller shows that Google's new fact-checking feature, which displays "fact-checks" next to allegedly disputed stories in search results, almost exclusively targets conservative media.

It's already been a bad week for Google: explosive information released in James Damore's class action lawsuit has revealed an atmosphere of extreme progressive bias at the company, complete with the open shaming and intimidation of conservatives and white males. Now there is evidence that the company's hyper-partisan bias is trickling down into its product.

Currently, when you search for a news site, for example, "Breitbart News," Google will show you a list of topics that the site has focused on, as well as a tab for "reviewed claims." These are stories that have been reviewed by "fact-checkers" like Snopes and Politifact.

Comment: Google, as well as the big social media companies, are not neutral. They have partisan interests and those interests are clearly affecting the content users are exposed to. With the power they have to shape worldviews, this trend is very concerning. See also:

The police officer who crashed his patrol car into an elderly couple's car while driving nearly 30 mph over the speed limit will face no charges and will remain on the job, despite a history of dangerous driving accidents.

The surveillance footage is gruesome, and it shows James Cryer, 69, and his wife Rena, 78, exiting a parking lot and pulling out onto the road in their 2001 Chevy Blazer when a 2015 Dodge Charger races down the street and crashes into the left rear of their car. Mr. Cryer was ejected from the car and left lying in the middle of the street.

The speeding car, which clearly had "POLICE" emblazoned on its side, was an Algood City patrol car driven by Officer Christopher Ferguson, 32. An investigation from the Tennessee Highway Patrol placed the blame on both drivers-claiming that while Ferguson was exceeding the speed limit, Cryer also "failed to yield" to oncoming traffic.

However, Cryer claimed that because Ferguson was driving nearly 30 mph over the speed limit, he did not see the patrol car when he pulled out into the street until it was too late.

Comment: Since cops can get a free pass for murder, it's unlikely any 'justice' will be served for his recklessly endangering other people's lives.

The star of the 1990s popular U.S. sitcom "Seinfeld" was in Israel for 10 days doing stand-up shows before he decided to take his family to the Caliber 3 academy near the illegal settlement of Efrat, south of Bethlehem, where he and his family members posed for pictures with Israeli trainers. Such camps have been popping up quickly in Israel over the past few years and described as "military or war tourism".

A teacher was attacked and arrested for legally asking why the school board was getting a raise as the schools fall apart and class sizes grow.

Illustrating the brutal nature of servitude police have to their rulers, an innocent English teacher was assaulted and arrested this week for merely asking why the superintendent was getting a raise when the rest of the school system is suffering. The entire infuriating interaction was captured on video and serves to make a powerful statement about who police protect.

Deyshia Hargrave, an English language arts teacher at Rene Rost Middle Schools, was addressing the Vermillion Parish school board meeting Monday night when the incident began. Hargrave - along with dozens of other teachers and staff-had filled the meeting Monday night to discuss the issue of teacher salaries and pay raises.

During the meeting, the panel gave the opportunity for anyone in the audience to voice their concerns over the vote to give the unelected superintendent a new 3-year contract with a $38,000 a year raise. Naturally, everyone in the audience wanted to speak out against this "slap in the face" because teachers in Vermillion Parish barely make $38,000 a year.

A paedophile who has recently been released from HMP Dartmoor has said it is 'extremely likely' he will re-offend.

The sex offender was convicted for offences involving grooming, indecent photos, and inciting a girl in a sexual activity, and served time at the Princetown prison.

He has now served his sentence and been released, but speaking to BBC Spotlight, said that the risk of him re-offending is "extremely high" as he was unable to get on a rehabilitation course while in prison, reports Devon Live.

In the interview, he was asked whether he would offend again, and he said: "I think it is extremely high given I haven't had any courses, and I haven't had the support that I desperately need."

The claims comes as a new report from the Independent Monitoring Board says the jail is not offering the required sex offender treatment programmes to help sex offenders to address their behaviour.

Comment: Is there even any evidence that such sex offender "treatment" programs work? It's doubtful.

A Louisiana teacher who was handcuffed and arrested after criticizing a budget proposal at a school board meeting condemned her treatment and urged other teachers to speak out, in a video posted online Wednesday.

An officer handcuffed and arrested middle school English teacher Vermilion Parish's Deyshia Hargrave Monday night, as seen in a YouTube video with over 2.5 million views, according to The Associated Press.

The Vermilion Parish school board was voting on a contract raising Superintendent Jerome Puyau's salary by approximately $30,000 to $140,000, a decision the board approved 5-3.

"How are you going to take that money, because it's basically taken out of the pockets of teachers?" asked Hargrave.

"Stop right now!" said Anthony Fontana, the school board president. "That's not germane to what's on the agenda tonight."

US suggests that travelers reconsider visiting Russia

The U.S. State Department listed Russia as one of the most dangerous countries to visit in a new travel advisory system released Wednesday, together with states including Sudan, Pakistan and Niger.

The new four-tier advisory replaces the State Department's travel warnings and alerts system and is based on seven risk factors including crime, unrest and other incidents. Travelers to Level 1 countries are told to "Exercise Normal Precautions" while the Level 4 category means "Do Not Travel."
