Melania Trump and Putin's long dinner chat: Russian TV loved it

Putin and Melania Trump
Russians are generally relieved that relations haven't been derailed by what they call 'American political schizophrenia'.

A lesser president might have been intimidated by the fierceness of the campaign. The world is lucky that Trump survived the school of Manhattan real estate - next to that, the depredations of panty-waists like Comey must not impress.

This Russian news report about Melania's role trying to end the meeting that dragged on forever and her subsequent dinner with Putin gives an interesting view on how Russians view the meeting.

The names of Los Angeles County Sheriff's deputies who've lied, stolen, used excessive force or falsified reports cannot be handed over to prosecutors, even in pending criminal cases, a California appeals court ruled.

The decision was made by the state's 2nd District Court of Appeals on Tuesday.
"Notifying an outside agency, even a prosecutor's office, that a deputy has an administratively founded allegation of misconduct involving moral turpitude cannot be characterized as anything other than disclosing information obtained from the peace officer's personnel file," Appellate Judge Douglas Sortino wrote in the 65-page opinion.
Judge Tricia Bigelow concurred in the decision.

Horrifying video shows prison guards watching man throw up blood for hours until he dies

Police watch man die
Horrifying video, exposed through a new lawsuit shows an inmate begging to be taken to the hospital as he violently throws up blood — all the while, prison officers stand by and simply watch him die.

For seven hours, Douglas Edminsten writhed in agony as blood spewed from his mouth. Instead of getting the dying man the help he was begging for, prison officers sadistically stood by and watched him die.

"It made me sick to my stomach," said attorney Glenn Valdez, after seeing the video for the first time. "I'm watching somebody die right in front of my eyes."

As KOB reports, Edminsten suffered for seven hours, and at some points he appeared to be unconscious. The other inmates were so scared for him that they read Bible passages and even formed a prayer circle.

"We know the inmates and everyone else were trying to get help, but nothing happened," Valdez said. "He couldn't call himself or do anything that we take for granted. So without the guards to call, he's dead."

Minneapolis police are in the eye of a storm for shooting two dogs after video footage of the incident was captured and shared online by the owner.

To justify the heavy handed action, police said the dogs "charged" at them, which appears to be contradicted by the footage.

The footage, recorded on Saturday, shows an officer climbing a fence and entering a backyard where he shot the two dogs, Ciroc and Rocko.

Both animals are support dogs for Jennifer LeMay's sons, who suffer from anxiety, the Star Tribune reports.

For the first time, the US Justice Department has reached a settlement with a major manufacturer of opioids. Mallinckrodt Pharmaceuticals will pay $35 million in a case involving the company's highly addictive pills ending up on the black market.

The deal establishes new standards that require the company to track its drugs as they flow through the supply chain to consumers, according to the Justice Department.
"Mallinckrodt's actions and omissions formed a link in the chain of supply that resulted in millions of oxycodone pills being sold on the street," Attorney General Jeff Sessions said in a statement.

What sanctions? West investing in Russia via Bahamas and Bermuda companies

World trade graphic
The Bahamas and Bermuda have provided a quarter of direct investment into the Russian economy in the past year.

These countries are investing more than the UK, USA, France, Germany, Japan and China put together, and the amount of revenue from offshore jurisdictions has doubled over the past two years.

This distribution of foreign investments has changed with the introduction of anti-Russian sanctions. Until 2013, the largest flow of direct investment came from Cyprus, Ireland, Luxembourg, the UK and France. With the introduction of sanctions in 2014, offshore investments dominate. Over the past three years, the inflow of funds from the Bahamas and Bermuda increased from 5.4 to 8.2 billion dollars (a quarter of all direct foreign investment in Russia).

A small Minnesota town is getting a lot of attention for a Satanic monument coming to their veterans park.

The monument going up for The Satanic Temple — which features an upturned helmet atop a black cube — will soon be at the site of the Veterans Memorial Park in Belle Plaine.

It is being built by a group of Satanists out of Massachusetts, and it will be the first Satanic monument on public property in United States history.

The city is allowing the monument to be built after a religious freedom group threatened to sue over another statue, which features a soldier praying over a grave marked with a cross.

Sputnik published a unique document that contains data about the salaries of Daesh terrorists. The document was found by the Iraqi federal police in the western part of Mosul.

According to the document, payments differ depending on the family status of a Daesh militant as well as the number of children in the family.

Single militants receive the lowest salary, about 72 dollars, or 95,000 Iraqi dinars.

By contrast, Abu Jana, who was born in 1991, married and a father of three children, received 184 dollars in the past month. A militant listed as Abu Nasser, born in 1962, married and father of six children, received 256 dollars.

Subhuman conditions: America's largest women's prison goes without water for days

Florida's Lowell Correctional Institution, which holds female offenders between the ages of 14 and 24, as well as pregnant women, has been without running water for several days. Some inmates have reportedly had to pay for drinking water.

Weekend storms caused damage to the prison's water pumps, said Florida Department of Corrections (FDOC) officials. The geothermal line, which helps cool the non-air conditioned prison, was also damaged.

Over 2,000 inmates were left without running water for days until part of the supply was repaired on Tuesday. Officials say the water is not drinkable until more tests have been made.

"The test and waiting period are to ensure the water is safe to drink. Until then, drinking water is being brought in continuously," said Ashley Cook, press secretary for the FDOC.

Some inmates have told friends and relatives they have had to pay for drinking water, the Miami Herald reported on Monday.

"They say they're bringing water in, but they're telling the girls they have to buy it off the canteen,'' a former Lowell inmate wrote on Facebook.

Comment: This isn't the first time Lowell Correctional Institution has been in the news. Various complaints have been filed concerning sexual abuse by guards.

This has to stop! San Diego cops employ K-9 in a brutal attack on a handcuffed man

police dog mauling
An extremely graphic and disturbing video was uploaded to Facebook this week showing San Diego police officers allowing a K9 to maul a handcuffed man.

The horrifying video begins as the man is on the ground in handcuffs. Instead of the officers attempting to get the dog off the man, two of them hold him down as the K9 tears into his forearm.

No commands to get the K9 to release are given and there is absolutely no reason to even have the dog near him.

Exactly why police were apprehending the man remains unclear as The Free Thought Project's calls to the San Diego police department have not been returned. However, it doesn't matter what the man did prior to being mauled by the K9 as he was in handcuffs, face down on the ground, and posed absolutely no threat to anyone.

The video, taken and uploaded by Facebook user Angel Nunez, was posted with the following description.
So today at work I was able to capture this go down. This K-9 officer had no control of his K-9. There is something definitely wrong with this picture. The officer doesn't seem to have the proper training. Also that dog is not well trained......
