Police beat homeless man over 'bag of dope'

philadelphia police beating
A witness recorded an act of police brutality this week and posted it online to raise awareness about what she had seen. In the video, police can be seen brutalizing a man after he had been handcuffed because he was not allowing them to carry him away for arrest.

During the altercation, the police smashed the man's head against the side of a pool and threw him against the ground repeatedly. The man showed no signs of fighting or violence and was simply making himself "dead weight" and attempting to sit down on the ground.

According to the witness, Ariel Rivera, the arrest was taking place because the man was caught with a bag of "dope," but it was not specified whether this was marijuana heroin or another drug. For those that are unaware, "dope" is a slang that is used to describe many different drugs. However, regardless of the type of drug that this man was in possession of, he had not hurt anyone and was not fighting back against the officers.

"3 Philadelphia police officers beat the bs out of this guy over one bag of dope smh share to stop this police brutality. The reason I recorded it and posted it and pushed for people to share it is because this isn't something that happens once in a blue moon in our neighborhood, this is very common. A lot of people go through stuff like this. Our community is bad enough already, to be honest, we should not have to fear calling the police," Rivera said.

Police have forcibly removed protesters staging a sit-in outside the US Marine Corps' Camp Schwab in Okinawa in a campaign to protest the relocation of the Futenma base.

The US Marine Corps Futenma Air Station is going to be moved from the densely populated Ginowan to a less populated location in eastern Okinawa - the Henoko coastal area of Nago.

Using rocks and gravel intended for the construction of the base, protesters reportedly refused to let trucks pass, blocking the way near the neighboring US Marine Corps base Camp Schwab.

"Marines out!" and "Stop illegal work," the demonstrators' posters read.

Clashes erupted between the protesters - many of who covered their faces with black masks - and police, with some nationalists having pepper sprayed the officers, Ruptly reported. Police deployed tear gas against the protesters.

No one has been arrested, according to Interfax.

Teen assaulted by cops and mauled by K-9 in ridiculous case of 'mistaken identity'

Tatyana Hargrove

Tatyana Hargrove
Tatyana Hargrove, 19, was recently assaulted by police because she was mistaken for a large man who was seen carrying a machete. Hargrove in no way matched the description of the criminal that the police were after, but they singled her out anyway, as she made her way home from a local store.

According to Hargrove, on June 18th she had walked to the nearby Wooden Nickel Trading Company on Ming Avenue to buy her father a present for father's day. However, she found that the store was closed when she arrived. Hargrove decided to go back home but on her way, she stopped for a drink from her water bottle since it was a very hot day.

That was when police swarmed around her with guns drawn, asking her what was in her bag. When she asked them why they wanted to search her and demanded a warrant, they became aggressive and threatened her with a dog. She handed over the bag, which had nothing illegal in it, and yet the police punched her in the mouth, allowed the police dog to bite her, and then arrested her.

Hargrove told reporters, "He put his other knee on my head, and I told him, 'I can't breathe, I can't breathe' and I started yelling out 'Somebody help me, somebody help me, they're going to kill me.'"

Five months after the Marines United nude-photo scandal broke, there is a new group of victims, including an unconscious woman who was photographed naked.

Explicit videos and photos of female servicemembers were posted last week in a Dropbox drive called "Girls of MU" and were shared in a closed Facebook group called Mike Uniform. ("Mike Uniform" is the U.S. military's phonetic alphabet for M.U., the abbreviation for "Marines United.")

Previous caches contained few videos, unlike the Mike Uniform cache, which indicates there are new victims. The shared drive contains 3,863 photos and videos, ranging from professional pornography to homemade videos and selfies. Some are screenshots of temporary Snapchat stories, and others are photos of a woman in a U.S. Marine Corps uniform engaging in oral sex and posing afterward.

The photo of the unconscious woman, like most of the videos in the new drive, was not posted in the original shared drives on the nude-photo-sharing Facebook page Marines United, nor on its descendant groups. The woman was photographed by a man whose reflection is visible in a mirror, though his face is unclear.

Martin discovers that while there are shortages, these are a product of an "economic war."

In her latest Empire Files episode, acclaimed journalist Abby Martin exposes the media bias behind "distorted" depictions of Venezuela's food and political crisis.

As part of the episode "Abby Martin in Venezuela - Supermarkets to Black Markets," Martin enters local grocery stores, big and small, with hidden cameras to see if they are completely out of stock — as they are commonly depicted by mainstream media.

She notes, "We just went to five different supermarkets and the shelves were fully stocked. And this is all type of neighborhoods, all types of classes. From Nestle chocolates to coco cola products, fish, meat, vegetables and fruits."

Six Afghan girls have received U.S. visas and are set to fly to Washington after President Donald Trump intervened to allow them into the United States for an international robotics competition.

The all-girl team picked up their visas at the U.S. Embassy in Kabul on July 13. The team was set to board a plane at Kabul International Airport within hours.

"We are so happy since we have been informed that we were accepted," 16-year-old team member Lida Azizi said. "From the students to the teachers, we are all so very happy."

The girls, who study at three different schools in Afghanistan's western Herat Province, had twice applied unsuccessfully for U.S. visas.
