Society's Child
The current time is marked by collectivism of a particular sort. It is marked by a unity of resentment against one group or another. The ability to fall in and march to the orgy of rage is largely dependent on selective ignorance.
Even the smartest just don't want to 'go there' on something. More often than not, the 'there' they don't want to go to is basic economics. Not because they don't have the mind for math, economics isn't really about math anyway. Not because they can't find quality information, there's plenty of introductory books or youtube lectures available. Not because they don't consider it important, the most grandiose economic theories and plans are almost always espoused by people with the least education on the topic.
No. The reason people don't care to become educated is because they know education will spoil the enjoyment of everyone's secret vice: righteous anger.

Norishige Kanai, 41, left, claimed had grown three and a half inches in just three weeks in space
Norishige Kanai, 41, today hastily corrected his initial claim by admitting he has actually only grown 2cm.
Tweeting Wednesday, he admitted: "Although it was a measurement error, it seems that it has become a serious topic. I am very sorry for the terrible fake news".
The first time astronaut did not explain why he made the initial claim but added he was glad he would be able to return to earth in the Soyuz spacecraft - which has a height limit.
His initial claim - which he called a "serious report" - was carried by news organisations around the world including the BBC, Washington Post and the Sun online.
The recent drone attack on the Russian base Khmeimim in Latakia is just one example. Thirteen sophisticated armed drones with a reach of some 100 kilometers attacked the base at the same time as a U.S. electronic warfare plane was circling off the Syrian coast. The attack was unsuccessful. Russia has sophisticated electronic warfare means and hijacked the command over six of the drones. The other seven were taken down by Russian air defenses.
To claim, as the U.S. does, that ISIS or some "rebels" did this is nonsense. ISIS has made short range weaponized drones flown by remote control in line of sight mode. This attack was by autonomous drones using GPS and barometric sensors to find their way to their targets. This is qualitatively on a whole new level. I doubt that Russia will let this go unanswered. Look out for some "mishap" that may soon hit some U.S. troops or interests abroad.
Yuri Dmitriev, 61, is on trial in northwest Russia on charges brought by state prosecutors of involving his adopted daughter, then 11, in child pornography, of illegally possessing "the main elements of" a firearm, and of depravity involving a minor.
Some of Russia's leading cultural figures say Dmitriev was framed because his focus on Stalin's crimes - he found a mass grave with up to 9,000 bodies dating from the Soviet dictator's Great Terror in the 1930s - jars with the latter-day Kremlin narrative that Russia must not be ashamed of its past.
The narrative has taken on added importance ahead of a March presidential election which polls show incumbent Vladimir Putin, who uses his country's World War Two victory when Stalin was in charge to bolster national pride, is on track to win.
Alexander Blok, one of the smartest and most noble of Russians, wrote this amazing essay on Catiline, a Roman rebel whose plot was crushed and who was utterly maligned by the father of all bullshit, Cicero.
So Catiline was this patrician, a decadent SOB who, when mistreated and challenged by the Roman establishment, organized the Roman deplorables and started a rebellion.
It was squashed of course, but for Blok, he remained a hero. Blok calls Catiline the Roman Bolshevik, and insists on approaching him not from Cicero's moralizing NYT-like perspective, but from the perspective of World Revolution.
For Blok, as he puts it, the heart of the Roman Empire stopped when Christ was born. It continued for another few hundred years, but in a zombie-like state until its petty, militaristic, provincial, materialistic character was finally exposed as the bluff it always was, and it collapsed under the weight of its own corruption. And here is Blok's paradoxical view: Catiline's rebellion makes sense only from this perspective.
The Delkab County Democrats projected "F*** Trump" on the outside of the stadium, tweeting "Welcome to Atlanta where the players play and where the Democratic Socialists have an awesome projector like every day. (You're not welcome in District 5 or anywhere else in ATL you orange fascist.")USA Today was apparently mistaken, as the Metro Atlanta Democratic Socialists of America claimed credit.
However, the Dekalb County Democrats approvingly promoted the 'F*** Trump' message and added their own hateful message to President Trump.

Supporters of the opposition candidate Salvador Nasralla burn the US flag as they take part in a march to protest against the results of Honduras' general elections in San Pedro Sula, Honduras.
On Saturday, some 80,000 people marched in San Padro Sula, the country's second largest city, against the reelection of US-backed president Juan Orlando Hernández and in support of opposition candidate Salvador Nasralla who was almost certainly the legitimate winner of the election. Demonstrators called for a national strike, threatened to boycott Hernández's inauguration and blocked roads and airports. The Honduran National Police and the elite military police - which are responsible for attacking peaceful protestors and collectively punishing them by using tear gas in their houses - have been the recipients of $114 million in US security support since 2009.

The lawsuit documents the social media giant's unlawful censorship of Johnson - and the damages it caused Johnson - on several fronts. Johnson, who is represented by Robert E. Barnes of Barnes Law, details various causes of action demonstrating how Twitter's actions violated the Unruh Civil Rights Act as well as the California and United States constitutions.
Johnson is seeking, among other relief, a declaratory judgment that Twitter has violated and continues to violate his free speech rights under the First Amendment of the US Constitution and/or Article I, section 2 of the California Constitution.
Comment: Social media need to be responsible for their blatant censorship and partisan double-standards. While the lawsuit is likely to be a trifle for tech giant Twitter, if it makes a big enough splash, it might force their hand into doing the right thing.

The incident took place on Wednesday in the town of Apatity, which is inside the Arctic Circle, traffic police told Russian news agencies. The man, who is in his late 20s, allegedly stole an armored personnel carrier (APC) from a local military school for a drive around the town.
The army has been plunged into a recruitment crisis while battling government funding cuts, which could see troop numbers plunge below 82,000. Now, millions of pounds are being spent in a bid to reach out to gay communities across Britain, who may not be joining the armed forces due to fears of stigma or rejection.
Muslim communities are also being targeted in the army's "belonging campaign" videos, which ask: "What if I get emotional?""Can I be gay in the army?" and "Do I have to be a superhero?".

Comment: Lowbrow. The anti-Trump movement lost its credibility a long time ago already, but they still get an A for asinine.
