The FBI is investigating a threat to the Los Angeles metro system, after receiving information on Monday suggesting that an attack was set to be launched on a station used to visit Universal Studios on the network's Red Line on Tuesday, officials say.

The information came from an anonymous phone call to a public safety line overseas, FBI Assistant Director in Charge Deirdre Fike told a news conference. The tip line was run by an unidentified foreign government, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The caller indicated that something would occur at the Lankershim Boulevard station across from Universal Studios on Tuesday.

New York Police are reportedly searching for a contract killer believed to have carried out the fatal shooting of an off-duty corrections officer in Brooklyn. Investigators believe an inmate at the notorious Rikers Island Prison may have put a hit on her.

Alastasia Bryan, 25, was shot in the chest, stomach, right forearm, and right hand as she sat in her parked vehicle while making a phone call at around 9:15pm on Sunday, according to police sources cited by the New York Daily News. She was declared dead by authorities who later arrived at the scene.

Footage recovered from the scene appears to show the gunman reversing into a parking spot and waiting for Bryan to get into her car. He then fires five rounds into the driver's side window before fleeing the scene, the sources said.

The sources told the news outlet that police are now searching for a contract killer who they suspect was hired by an inmate at Rikers Island Prison, where Bryan worked.

It has been revealed that the English Football League warned clubs about former Southampton youth coach Bob Higgins, named in connection with allegations of historical child sexual abuse, as far back as 1989.

According to the Guardian, Higgins went to work for numerous clubs, including Peterborough United, and was still coaching when details about possible widespread abuse came to light last month, when former Crewe Alexandra player Andy Woodward came forward to detail his abuse at the hands of pedophile former coach Barry Bennell.

The Football League circulated a letter dated April 22, 1989, to managers of all clubs saying the organization was "opposed" to the Bob Higgins Soccer Academy (BHSA).

Comment: "He faced charges of sexual offenses against boys in 1992, but was cleared on the direction of a judge". So in other words Higgins was allowed to sexually abuse children for over 20 years!

An African-American Santa Claus at Minnesota's Mall of America has found himself at the center of a Twitterstorm after a deluge of disapproving tweets criticized his hiring.

Larry Jefferson-Gamble may have the bushy white beard and eyebrows, old-fashioned granddad spectacles and warm smile but that wasn't enough to satisfy many who were upset at the 'non-traditional' depiction of Father Christmas.

A retired veteran of the United States army, Jefferson-Gamble has been dressing up as Santa since he was 12, so experience is not the problem. Many complaining online felt this was political correctness gone too far.

Chris Hedges: The mafia state

mr. fish the buck stops here
Systems of governance that are seized by a tiny cabal become mafia states. The early years—Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton in the United States—are marked by promises that the pillage will benefit everyone. The later years—George W. Bush and Barack Obama—are marked by declarations that things are getting better even though they are getting worse. The final years—Donald Trump—see the lunatic trolls, hedge fund parasites, con artists, conspiracy theorists and criminals drop all pretense and carry out an orgy of looting and corruption.

The rich never have enough. The more they get, the more they want. It is a disease. CEOs demand and receive pay that is 200 times what their workers earn. And even when corporate executives commit massive fraud, such as the billing of hundreds of thousands of Wells Fargo customers for accounts they never opened, they elude punishment and personally profit. Disgraced CEO John Stumpf left Wells Fargo with a pay package that averages nearly $15 million a year. Richard Fuld received nearly half a billion dollars from 1993 to 2007, a time in which he was bankrupting Lehman Brothers.

Aug. 6, 2015 - Durango, Colorado, U.S. - People kayak in the Animas River near Durango, Colo., in water colored from a mine waste spill.
The Navajo Nation has filed a $160 million lawsuit against the US government for damages and ongoing injuries caused by an August 2015 mine spill which released millions of gallons of toxic waste near the tribe's territory.

The filing, announced in a Monday press release, claims that the Gold King Mine spill negatively impacted communities along the San Juan River on Navajo Nation territory when it released millions of gallons of toxic waste - including lead, arsenic, and mercury - into the nearby Animas River, ultimately transforming the connecting San Juan River from a "life-giver and protector" to a "threat" to the Navajo people, crops, and animals.

McDonald's employee puts mustard in a cop's drink, gets charged with 2 counts of battery

cop mustard drink
If a disgruntled fast food employee put mustard in the drink of a person they did not like, they would be fired and the person who got the drink would likely have very minimal civil recourse. However, if the person who had the mustard in their drink is a police officer — the offending fast food worker can and will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law, or further; as is the case in Topeka.

Jonathan Gill, a 26-year-old McDonald's employee was fired last week after he put mustard in a Topeka Police Officer's drink as well as a Kansas Highway Patrol Troopers. His termination is certainly warranted. However, days after he was fired, a pro-cop Facebook page posted an image the officer took of the mustard in his drink and the outrage began.

The Facebook group Kansas GOING BLUE posted the photo the Sunday before last saying "a McDonald's here in Kansas just served a Law Enforcement Officer on duty a Dr. Pepper with Mustard in a drive thru order. This is extremely unacceptable!!"

School girl reported rape to police, they ignored her and didn't ring mother - officer fired for mishandling cases of similar nature

mishandling of rape case
Fort Worth, TX — A 15-year-old high school student was forced to ask for help on Facebook after she reported her rape to police only to be completely ignored. After being exposed for ignoring the girl, police then blamed her for their mistakes.

The alleged attack happened in December 2015, right near the school. Because the child felt ashamed and guilty after the attack, she was scared to tell her parents. After hearing that her attacker had done the same thing to several other girls, she finally broke her silence and told the school police.

Her reports of rape, however, fell on deaf ears as police took no action.

According to FOX 4 News, Fort Worth ISD filed a report with police, but the detective assigned to the case did nothing with it from there.

People Power: Defying Russophobia - Flash mobs of Ukrainians sing Russian songs

Flashmob in Ukraine's Zaporozhia
© Unknown
In an innovative way of showing discontent with the Russophobia that the governing nationalistic elite in Ukraine is known for, a trend of flash mobs singing songs in Russian is spreading like wildfire in Ukraine. It has also spread to Russia and Moldova where flash mobs in solidarity with their Slavic brothers and sisters in Ukraine are singing Ukrainian songs. The joy and emotion that can be seen in the videos by the bystanders speaks for itself.

About the beginning Lada Ray writes:
The newest thing the Kiev junta is doing is banning Russian language during school breaks. Teachers caught speaking Russian will be fired.

In the atmosphere of the oppression, the people are finding ways to resist in a beautiful and inspiring way, by performing Russian-Soviet songs at train stations.

It began on November 13 in Zaporozhye, the large industrial city in Eastern Ukraine, located next to Donbass. The city of Zaporozhye is located in the very center of the ancestral Zaporozhskie Cossack territories. Zaporozhye means basically 'beyond the white waters.' It is located on the banks of the river Dnepr and it is the white waters of the river that gave it its name. The city was founded by the Russian tsars; in 1930s it became the center of the Soviet industrialization. It is the sight of the famous symbol of the Soviet industrialization DneproGes (Dnepr Hydroelectric Station). It is also the home to the metallurgical giant Zaporozhstal' (Zaporozhye Metal Plant). Europe's largest nuclear power plant is also built here. I again want to stress that everything that has been built in Zaporozhye was built by either the Russian Empire or the USSR. During its 25 years of 'independence' Ukraine built nothing of significance.

Soon other cities followed :

Looking north on Highway 1806, the reinforced barricade of razor wire and concrete barriers on Backwater Bridge can be seen Nov. 29th, as law enforcement vehicles line highway shoulders. In the foreground at right is a semi-truck used by the DAPL protester to pull one of the two fire-gutted truck from the bridge during Sunday night's confrontation.
In a heartening display of unity and solidarity, and as a show of resolve in the face of Energy Transfer Partners statement that they WILL complete the DAPL without rerouting the pipeline, U.S. veterans and water protectors marched to the 1806 bridge, which was the site of a violent confrontation between police and water protectors on November 20.

After the announcement by the Army Corp of Engineers, denying the easement, police vacated their post by removing their police tanks, LRAD sound cannons, and other vehicles that had been stationed at the bridge since the confrontation took place.
