People, who evacuated from the eastern districts of Aleppo, stand with their belongings in a government held area of Aleppo, Syria December 9, 2016.
People who've been trapped in eastern Aleppo for years are now being reunited with their families. Some of them told RT's Lizzie Phelan why they didn't flee when the militants took over.

"Only strong men have a good chance of escaping rebel areas. It's especially difficult for families, when you have kids they don't allow you to leave," local resident Ibrahim said. He told RT some families were simply unable to leave their children behind - if you have a boy of a fighting age, the terrorists simply won't let you take him with you. And fighting age in militant-held Aleppo is just 14.

"Because I have a boy, they wouldn't let him leave with me. That's why I stayed - because I have a boy. I stayed here for him. Thanks to God, today we were able to leave," Ibrahim says.

Comment: These are the terrorists that the US and the West are supporting and calling for a ceasefire to help them escape instead of helping the residents.

Kelly Mantle, a gender-fluid performer who was a contestant on the sixth season of "RuPaul's Drag Race," has made Oscar history as the first potential nominee eligible in both male and female categories, TheWrap has learned.

Mantle plays a transgender prostitute in "Confessions of a Womanizer," a Miguel Ali indie from Harbor House Films starring Andrew Lawrence and Gary Busey.

The film's producers ran into a dilemma when filling out Oscar paperwork, which required them to classify Mantle, who was born a man, as either male or female. Mantle was submitted for consideration in both categories, and the Academy confirmed that the performer can be nominated in either one.

Fentanyl overdose deaths fill Vancouver morgues to capacity

The B.C. Coroners Service reports that the morgue at Vancouver General Hospital is often at capacity, in part due to an unprecedented number of illicit drug-overdose deaths.
Vancouver morgues have reached a point where they are "frequently full", forcing health authorities to store bodies at funeral homes.

The B.C. Coroners Service made that admission in response to an inquiry by the Straight about unprecedented numbers of overdoses linked to fentanyl and other drugs.

Comment: Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid pain medication that has a rapid onset and short duration of action.

"The recent increase in deaths from illicit drug overdoses has put increased pressure on an already-stressed system," said Barb McLintock, a spokesperson for the coroners service.

The city's primary morgue is at Vancouver General Hospital. It has space for 70 bodies plus a small area set aside for police cases.

McLintock cautioned that "full" is not a word authorities use to describe morgue operations, given that spaces are always coming available as they are simultaneously occupied by new additions. But McLintock conceded that at this point, it is accurate to describe B.C. morgues as "frequently full", and she noted that fentanyl overdoses are largely to blame.

Almost three-quarters of French citizens fear terrorist attacks during the upcoming holiday season, a recent survey revealed. In addition, 67 percent of respondents consider public places hosting festive events to be under the greatest threat.

As stated in the survey, conducted by the Odoxa research institute and published on Friday in Le Figaro daily, 71 percent of the respondents said they fear terrorist attacks during the upcoming holidays.

The study also states that "for nearly six out of 10 (57%), department stores and shopping centers are also a matter of concern, as are places of worship - for more than one in two (54%)."

Some 78 percent of respondents said they are in favor of establishing secure areas in public places where New Year will be celebrated.

On a greater scale, when asked about their "everyday safety," the French appear overwhelmingly supportive of the presence of security officers, for instance at the entrances of department stores (91 percent). Almost one-third of the respondents even said they will either make do without Christmas shopping or purchase gifts on the internet to avoid traveling to large shopping malls.

Comment: This study that claims to represent the majority of French people but was really only 1,000 people, serves to ramp up the fear and make the French people accept a security state for their 'safety' in exchange for their freedoms. See the video below for more information:

Guatemalans burn Trump effigies to dispel evil spirits

A pinata representing U.S. President-elect Donald Trump as a devil burns during the traditional Burning of the Devil festival, ahead of Christmas in Guatemala City, Guatemala December 7, 2016.
Revelers in Guatemala set ablaze cardboard representations of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump wearing devil horns during a traditional ceremony, "La Quema del Diablo", or the Burning of the Devil, held ahead of Christmas every year.

Trump's hardline stance on immigration during his presidential election campaign, including a promise to build a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border, has drawn anger from Latin Americans in the United States and around the world.

"We are against this person in many respects, regarding deportations, the wall he wants to build. We do not agree," said participant Astrid Soto, just before setting fire to the Trump figures, which clutched fistfuls of fake cash, and a U.S. flag.

Participants believe the practice of torching the devil helps banish bad spirits from their homes and neighborhoods. The custom began in the 16th century, but has spread out from various towns since the 1990s to become popular nationwide.

Egyptian security forces were hit by two roadside bombings in a single day on Friday that killed six policemen and wounded six in Cairo and the north of the country, security sources and officials said.

The attacks come as the government of President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi faces an insurgency waged by Islamist groups.

In the first incident, on Friday morning, a recently emerged Egyptian militant group claimed responsibility for a bomb in Cairo that the interior ministry said killed six policemen and wounded three others at a checkpoint on a main road leading to the Pyramids.

The Hasm Movement, which has claimed several attacks in Egypt in recent months, said it set off the bomb which, security sources said, also injured four civilians.

Eyewitness Ahmed Al-Deeb described a scene of carnage, with dead and dying policemen lying next to wrecked cars. One of the policemen had blast fragments in his chest and two more had lost legs, he told Reuters Television.

Comment: A terrorist group affiliated with the Daesh jihadists might be behind the deadly explosion in the Egyptian capital on Friday, a source in the country's Interior Ministry told RIA Novosti.
Earlier in the day, an improvised explosive device went off in Cairo, killing at least six policemen and injuring six other people, including three civilians.

"The evidence points at an armed cell, affiliated with Ajnad Misr [Soldiers of Egypt], taking into consideration that the group has recently demonstrated its will to return to the criminal activities," the source said.
