A Venezuelan court has sentenced two former U.S. special forces soldiers to 20 years in prison for their part in a blunder-filled beach attack aimed at overthrowing President Nicolás Maduro.

Lawyers for the former Green Berets, Luke Denman and Airan Berry, said they were barred from the secretive jailhouse proceedings Friday night in what they consider a violation of their constitutional rights to a defense.

Maduro's chief prosecutor announced the surprise decision late Friday night.

The poor reasoning behind housing homeless people in luxury hotels notwithstanding, the city's moves to irritate its residents — and in this case, endanger children — boggles the mind.

New York Post reports that this "slap in the face to residents of the Manhattan neighborhood" is just the city's latest move that has garnered widespread anger and outrage from residents already reeling from an influx of a new homeless population that relocated to the area following the coronavirus pandemic.

Comment: That should mix nicely with the city's recent move to cut police funding by $1 billion. The last thing anyone would want is adequate police protection when a gang of child rapists have moved into your neighborhood. It's like they're deliberately trying to sow chaos. NYC is headed for hell on earth at this point.

Rioters attacked a Portland police building in a residential neighborhood on Friday night and stormed onto people's private property when law enforcement officials repelled their attack and flushed them out of the area.

Journalist Andy Ngo, who testified before Congress about Antifa violence this week, tweeted out a video of the Portland Police chasing the rioters through the neighborhood, at which point they began to go onto people's private property, where their homes were located, in an effort to evade law enforcement.

One homeowner came outside and repeatedly yelled at the rioters, who were trespassing on his property, telling them: "Get the f*** off my property!"

Melbourne, that glorious city in the state of Victoria in Australia, granted me some of the best travel days of my life during two separate trips each lasting a full week.

A happy, civilized, highly educated people are here living amidst modern architecture, inspiring bridges, and natural beauty, a place where even the police are kind, and when you ask them for directions they reply with a smile, and when you say thank you, they say "No worries."

Now there are big worries in Melbourne.

Soh tweeted an image of the censored tweet on Wednesday night showing the podcast had been blocked to view on Twitter.
Dr. Debra Soh is a Canadian former sex researcher, neuroscientist, columnist, and podcast host known for her work related to the science and politics of sex.

Dr. Soh, who has a degree in sexual neuroscience research from York University, appeared on episode #1520 of the Joe Rogan Experience podcast (released on Wednesday, August 5th). One of the topics of the podcast was childhood transgenderism, something Soh has written about before.

Soh tweeted an image of the censored tweet on Wednesday night showing the podcast had been blocked to view on Twitter. The tweet with the link to the interview contained a label that said the media included "potentially sensitive content."

Comment: Censoring a scientist and sex researcher because you don't like what she has to say about gender. It seems that, after censoring the President of the United States, no one is off limits. Twitter has become a censorious, ideologically possessed authoritarian social media service. Or perhaps they always were, they're just out of the closet now.

A series of contracts that began under the Obama-era Food and Drug Administration paid out almost $100,000 as part of efforts to obtain from a controversial vendor tissue from fetuses aborted in the first and second trimester for research into "humanized mice," documents discovered in June reveal.

The details of the contracts, obtained in a lawsuit by government watchdog group Judicial Watch, are likely to play a role in key decisions made by a fetal tissue ethics advisory board convened by the Trump administration, one which The Washington Post said is "dominated by foes of abortion and fetal tissue research."

The 165 pages of documents, which relate to the government's deals with the nonprofit firm Advanced Bioscience Resources, reveal the program continued well into the Trump administration, although it was eventually terminated over concerns that it was not complying with federal law regarding the uses of fetal tissue.

In 2016, then-Senate Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley, an Iowa Republican, referred ABR for criminal prosecution as part of an investigation into fetal tissue sales.

Denmark boasts one of the lowest COVID-19 death rates in the world. As of August 4, the Danes have suffered 616 COVID-19 deaths, according to figures from Johns Hopkins University.

That's less than one-third of the number of Danes who die from pneumonia or influenza in a given year.

Despite this success, Danish leaders recently found themselves on the defensive. The reason is that Danes aren't wearing face masks, and local authorities for the most part aren't even recommending them.

This prompted Berlingske, the country's oldest newspaper, to complain that Danes had positioned themselves "to the right of Trump."

"The whole world is wearing face masks, even Donald Trump," Berlingske pointed out.

Hundreds of illegal migrants arriving daily on small boats and dinghies are being housed in 3- and 4-star hotels across the country, causing consternation among local residents. Why are officials being so silent over this?

As a journalist in Britain, you don't expect to be shut down by the police. But that's precisely what happened during RT's visit to the 3-star Bell Hotel in Epping, about 17 miles north of London. No blame can be attributed to the officers, who were only responding to a call from the hotel's management.

The question is, why were they even alerted?

The reason for that is unclear, but it's just one of a number of unanswered questions about the controversy surrounding hundreds of asylum seekers being housed in hotels up and down the country, some operated by well-known chains like Hilton, Holiday Inn and Radisson.

Comment: Between this and the Royal Navy being sent out to collect, not send back, incoming migrants, it's now clear as day that the British Conservative government has its marching orders from 'on high' to 'stay the course' on illegal immigration.
