In yet another of the many signs we've seen this year alone that prove everything is stupid, a Kroger manager was shamed on Twitter earlier today by a mask Karen because he supposedly refused to intervene more forcefully in a mask dispute that allegedly involved an assault threat against the Karen who made the complaint.

A self-proclaimed transgender rights activist who goes by the name Danielle Muscato and notes the pronouns "she/her" in his/her Twitter bio erupted on the social media platform and blasted off on Andy the Kroger manager who she says "refused to do anything" other than talk to the person who allegedly threatened her with violence.

UK gov tells obese people to stay indoors in lockdown regions

Vulnerable Brits will be told to remain inside to avoid mass lockdown if the country sees a sharp spike in cases over the next few months.


Comment: Asymptomatic cases will spike if the government intensifies its faulty testing regime.


A Cabinet minister told the Sunday Telegraph that the government's plan was a "stiletto not a sledgehammer" approach to tackling outbreaks.

Experts are currently looking at ways NHS data can be used to target people in vulnerable groups.

These include people who are aged over 50 and those who are obese.

Comment: In the UK 27% of the population are obese which means the government is basically asking over a quarter of the population to lock themselves in their houses; this, particularly for those already suffering from weight related health issues, will only exacerbate their conditions, and this draconian measure comes about a week after the government threatened the over 50's with house arrest. Now, whatever next? People over 6 foot tall?

'It's illogical': Thousands rally in Montreal to protest draconian coronavirus regulations

Protesters chanted "liberté" as they marched from the main gates of McGill University on Sherbrooke Street to the CBC/Radio-Canada building on René-Lévesque Boulevard.
Thousands of demonstrators marched through downtown Montreal Saturday to protest against the Quebec government's mandatory mask regulations.

The protesters — the vast majority of whom did not wear masks — carried signs and wore t-shirts indicating a variety of motivations and ideologies in opposition to face coverings.

Some demanded freedom, some were critical of the Coalition Avenir Québec government, Premier François Legault or public health director Dr. Horacio Arruda, and others espoused various theories about COVID-19 and U.S. politics.

Only 16% of Britons have enough sense to refuse a coronavirus vaccine

Younger people were twice as likely to reject a vaccine than 55 to 75-year-olds, the study shows.

Just over half of the UK would definitely get a coronavirus vaccine, with "damaging misperceptions" affecting potential uptake, a poll has revealed.

Only 53% of Britons would be certain or very likely to get vaccinated against COVID-19, researchers at King's College London (KCL) and Ipsos Mori found.

One in six (16%) said they would definitely not get a vaccine or it would be very unlikely, the poll of 2,237 people between 16 and 75 showed.

The study found that people were more likely to reject the vaccine because of their attitudes and beliefs about science and authority, rather than reasons related to coronavirus itself.

Comment: It takes going to the original research to actually discover that the poll showed that the heavy majority (73%) are likely to get the vaccine:

So it's more like we only have 16% who have a decent ability to grasp the situation at hand by refusing the vaccine and another 11% who are uncertain. The original headline from Sky News read: "Coronavirus: Only half of Britons say they would get a vaccine, poll reveals". So why state lies when most people actually are onboard? The effort is likely an attempt to sway those who are uncertain, while attempting to get the onboard masses to shame all those 'many' dangerous rebels for not caring about 'government, authority and science'. Nevermind the corruption of 'government, authority and science' that can be witnessed firsthand. In this sense, we cannot even trust the accuracy of this survey.

Some parents and even the district's school board president aren't fully on board.

'Enough is enough' - Police chief says Portlanders are tired of violence at protests, and elsewhere

Portland Police Chief Chuck Lovell lamented the destruction and criminal activity happening downtown during a meeting with the media on Wednesday morning, and he said the recently defunded Gun Violence Reduction Team should come back.

Protesters have gathered in downtown Portland each night for nearly 10 weeks since the death of George Floyd, an unarmed Black man who was killed during an arrest in Minneapolis when a white police officer, Derek Chauvin, knelt on Floyd's neck for nearly 8 minutes.

Portland's protests and rallies against systemic racism and police brutality have mostly been peaceful, with thousands of people gathering in downtown Portland to chant, listen to speakers and call for change.

"There have been some really large peaceful protests where people have come out, listened to and given speeches, marched to different parts of the city, and that has required zero police engagement," Lovell said.


Comment: As protests in Portland have turned into riots, even the elderly are targeted. Two women were splattered with white paint for trying to disrupt demonstrators from attacking a police stations and setting it on fire:





"As officers dispersed the crowd, they were hit with projectiles ranging from glass bottles to heavy rocks. Large rebar ties were thrown into the street with the intention of popping police vehicle tires. Several police vehicles ran over them, which caused damage to tires. While officers dispersed the crowd, several custodies were taken."



Impression management by Oregon Governor Kate Brown and Mayor Ted Wheeler was in high gear:


On their 71st night of demonstrations, another police HQ was attacked as protesters threw rocks and fireworks at officers and used lasers to obscure police vision - including shining it into a police helicopter. The Penumbra Kelly Building that housed Multimomah County Sheriff's Office and the Portland Police Bureau came under attack:





The latest actions were violent enough to finally force the mayor to call 'Wednesday's Assembly' not peaceful. His concern was Trump might appropriate it as 'a prop for his reelection campaign':
Trump addressed the ongoing protests in Portland during a press conference on Friday, where he said Mayor Wheeler has "surrendered to the mob" and he called the demonstrations "the radical left's agenda in action."

The Joint Economic Committee of Congress has just produced an important new study titled "The Demise of the Happy Two-Parent Home."

The report exhaustively presents data showing the shocking collapse of marriage and traditional family in America and then explores possible explanations for why it has happened.
  • In 1962, 71% of women ages 15-44 were married. By 2019, this was down to 42%.
  • In 1962, 5% of women ages 30-34 had never been married. By 2019, this was up to 35%.
  • In the 1960s, less than 1% of couples living together were not married. Today, it is over 12%.
  • And the percentage of births to unmarried women has risen from 5% in 1960 to 40% in 2018.
  • In 1970, 85% of children lived with two parents. By 2019, this was down to 70%.
The relevant questions are: Why should the collapse of marriage in the United States concern us? And why is this happening?

Violence continued in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday night into Sunday morning as a "peaceful protest" once again became a riot, with activists blockading streets, setting fire to the police union offices, and attacking local police.

According to a press statement by the Portland Police Department, several protests had been peaceful on Saturday until a march Saturday evening blocked traffic illegally outside the offices of the Portland Police Association, the local police union. "People within the crowd committed crimes when they erected a fence, pushed dumpsters into the street to block traffic, set a dumpster on fire, vandalized the PPA office with spray paint, and destroyed security cameras," police said.

Khabarovsk protests 5 weeks on: Smaller crowds, but thousands still turn out to back ex-Governor Furgal & vent anger at Moscow

Residents of Khabarovsk have taken to the streets once again in a continued show of support for former Governor Sergey Furgal, arrested in July on suspicion of ordering two successful murders, and a third failed killing.

Saturday's march marks the 29th day in a row of protests in the largest city in Russia's Far East, although the number of participants has significantly dropped off since two weeks ago. According to Khabarovsk city authorities, 2,800 attended the rally - far fewer than in July, when local sources estimated tens of thousands of people were out on the streets (while official numbers suggested a little over 10,000).

Furgal, the then-governor of the Khabarovsk Region, representing the far-right LDPR party, was arrested on July 9 on suspicion of ordering three murders, dating back to the 2000s. The politician, who in 2018 beat a candidate from the country's ruling United Russia party, was immediately flown to Moscow, where he's in custody, pending trial.

Many Khabarovsk locals are infuriated that their former governor was lifted by federal forces, and will face the charges over 6,000km away. After gathering at the city's central Lenin Square, Khabarovsk residents marched through the center, shouting "This is our choice!" and "A fair trial in Khabarovsk!" The protesters in Khabarovsk demand that Furgal's case be handled in the region he once represented.

Comment: It has been a full month, and while numbers have shrunk, the protesters seem determined. Looks like they'll be protesting in the weeks to come, too. See also:

Lebanese security forces and protesters clashed in Beirut as demonstrators took to the streets in anger as the death toll from Tuesday's devastating explosion continued to climb.

Officials said the death toll from the blast that damaged several city blocks in downtown Beirut has climbed to at least 157 but it is expected to further rise as search-and-rescue operations continue, Al Jazeera reported.

The blast near the Beirut port was the equivalent of a 3.3-magnitude earthquake that razed buildings and injured more than 5,000. Officials believe its cause was nearly 3,000 tons of ammonium nitrate stored at a nearby warehouse.

Protesters who blame the explosion on government negligence demonstrated near parliament Thursday night and clashed with security forces who attempted to disperse them with tear gas, the BBC reported.

Local law enforcement has arrested 16 people in connection to their investigation into the explosion.

Comment: In the mean time, the number of those killed in Tuesday's huge blast in the port of Beirut has risen to 158 and over 6,000 have been injured, local media said Saturday, citing the Lebanese Health Ministry.

The police action was taken response to protesters trying to break into the Parliament Building.




Protesters are calling for the resignation of the entire Lebanese government


Update 08/08/2020: Clashes between police and protesters in Beirut has claimed one life, with 240 injured. One government building was set fire amid the chaos, while the Foreign Ministry and Water and Energy Ministry offices were occupied by protesters.





A local paper reported that "a smash and burn operation" was underway at the office of the country's Banking Association.



Protesters also built gallows and used nooses to hang the cardboard cutouts of the country's top political figures. Among others, their 'victims' were Lebanese PM Hassan Diab, President Michel Aoun, and the leader of the country's influential political and military movement Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah.


The military was called out to attempt to restore order in the capital.


According to Lebanese Red Cross figures, over 230 protesters have been injured, with 55 transferred to hospital. At least one police officer has been killed and multiple others have also been injured in the unrest.

UPDATE 09/08/2020: The protests have continued into early Sunday morning. A total of 490 people have been injured, and one law enforcement officer died in the unrest.
