NYC Shut It Down: The Grand Central Crew
Newly obtained documents indicate the New York Police Department may have committed constitutional violations by deploying undercover officers to monitor peaceful Black Lives Matter protests, following the death of Eric Garner in 2014.

It also collected multimedia recordings from Grand Central Station demonstrations according to court documents filed by the NYPD in response to a lawsuit, The Guardian reported.

The disclosures were made after a group of New York attorneys filed a suit against the NYPD after they refused requests to release records under the freedom of information law.

Palestinians are now losing their freedom and place in cyberspace as well as in the space that was once their homeland.

The world's largest social media network has been deleting Palestinian accounts and posts at the behest of Israel for alleged "incitement".

Facebook has allowed Israel to delete any Palestinian content that they deem inappropriate.

Palestinian activists have launched a campaign to boycott Facebook:
"We will not stop our campaign until Facebook withdraws from the agreement and respects international laws and standards safeguarding the freedom of opinion and expression."

Man who spent 31 years in prison on false rape conviction still fighting to be exonerated

Lawrence McKinney
After spending over three decades in prison, Lawrence McKinney was released in 2009 after DNA evidence proved he was not guilty. However, his second attempt to have the conviction reversed and possibly receive compensation from Tennessee has been denied.

Lawrence McKinney spent 31 years living the Kafkaesque nightmare of being imprisoned for a crime he did not commit. After DNA evidence proved him innocent of a 1978 rape charge, he has fought to have his name cleared by exoneration. His request was denied by a parole board for the second time on Tuesday.

The parole board voted 7-0 to not recommend formal exoneration to Tennessee Governor Bill Haslam. Doing so would allow McKinney to receive compensation from the Tennessee Board of Claims for up to $1 million.

During the hearing, the parole board used McKinney's lengthy record for fighting in prison to protest reversing his conviction. Former inmate James Beasley testified at McKinney's hearing. Beasley was another inmate at the Hardeman County Correctional Complex and claimed that McKinney stabbed him while there. McKinney owned up to the 97 incidents on his prison record but explained that "only the strong survive" in prison culture, the Tennessean reported.

David Raybin, one of McKinney's attorneys, said that Beasley's accusations were false. In addition, McKinney has not been in trouble with the law in the seven years he has been free.

Sisters Ann Marie Korkki, 38, and Robin Marie Korkki, 42 on vacation found dead in their upscale room with no cause of death at this time

Editor's notes: Remember the 2 sisters from Quebec found dead in their Thai resort which turned out to be pesticides? (see link at bottom) Or do you recall the family of four poisoned by pesticides at an upscale villa just months ago in the Virgin Islands? With all the luxury resort pesticide poisonings, it does make one have to wonder.

On to the story:

Members of a grieving American family are on their way to the tropical island paradise of the Seychelles to try and solve the mystery of what killed two sisters in their shared resort room, and to bring their bodies home.

CBS reports:
Annie Korkki, 37, and Robin Korkki, 42, were found dead in their villa at the posh Maia Luxury Resort on the Seychelles, a chain of islands in the Indian Ocean about 900 miles from the coast of East Africa.

Local media have reported the sisters were found without any clear signs of physical attack or obvious trauma to their bodies.
The Seychelles Nation newspaper said the women had to be helped to their room by resort staff after drinking the night before they were found, according to CBS Denver. Resort staff found the women in their room and reported it to the police on Sept. 22.

Facebook pictures showed the sisters enjoying their time in the Seychelles for at least a week before they were found dead. According to the Seychelles News Agency's website, they had been due to depart the island and fly home on Sept. 24.

"They were certified dead by the doctor at the Anse Boileau health center where they had been transported for examination," the agency quoted a police spokesman as saying. "Preliminary examination done by the police on the bodies of the two Americans is not showing any signs of violence."

Officials in the Seychelles, and the Korkki family, were awaiting the results of the autopsies.

"People are mad": "Existential change is in the air," says market analyst Dave Collum

existential risk
Chemistry professor, and infamous market observer Dave Collum, author of the encyclopedic 'Year in Reviews', senses "existential risk in the American Experiment." In an excellent interview with The Cornell Review, Collum opines on everything from 'safe spaces' to 'social unrest' warning "people are now mad, and it shows in the chaotic election. We are guaranteed to elect a president that half the populace finds repugnant...Change is in the air."

Media black-out: Peaceful prayer circle raided by militarized police in North Dakota

dakota police
Heavily-militarized police decked in riot gear and armed to the teeth, arrived by MRAP and other military-grade vehicles to a Dakota Access Pipeline construction site — not to crack down on a violent and destructive riot — but to break up ... a peaceful prayer gathering.

Members of the Standing Rock Sioux and other Native American Nations and their supporters had gathered to pray and sing songs at the construction site Wednesday, when Morton County, North Dakota, Sheriff's Office deployed an insanely disproportionate response to break up the unarmed and otherwise wholly peaceful gathering.

A wild Butterfree appears, Pokemon Go.
The municipality of The Hague filed a lawsuit against American game company Niantic in an effort to reduce annoyance caused by Pokemon Go players in Kijkduin. The case appears in court on October 11th, NU.nl reports.

According to the newspaper, Pokemon Go players cause a lot of problems in Kijkduin. They break lampposts to charge their phones and leave a mess behind.

Over the past weeks the municipality tried to contact Niantic several times, but with no response. So they decided to take the matter to court.

The municipality is demanding that there be no Pokemon on and around the Delta Square in Kijkduin between 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. And that the nature reserve area be removed completely from the game.

"In this way Kijkduin will remain attractive to Pokemon Go players, but the nuisance to local residents and damage to nature are prevented", a spokesperson for VVD alderman Boudewijn Revis said to newspaper AD.

Driver tried to run over pedestrians in Vienna shouting 'Allahu Akbar'

Police detained a 21-year old man in Vienna after he deliberately tried to run over pedestrians while shouting "Allahu Akbar" out of his car. No one has been injured and officials are now investigating the motivation behind the man's behavior.

The incident happened at around 11:00am local time in the district of Favoriten on Thursday.

"He aimed and drove directly at the passers-by," Vienna police spokesperson Thomas Keiblinger said in an interview with Radio Wien as cited by national public proadcaster wien.ORF.at

Comment: While 'Allahu Akbar' seems to be the cool new battle cry, it actually is not a jihadi slogan. It simply means 'God is great', and it is used by ordinary Muslims. In some contexts, it's similar to how Westerners might say 'Oh my God' or 'Praise the Lord'. The jihadis coopted the phrase, however, and use it before, during, and after their deadly attacks in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere, and generally whenever they open their mouths.

Syrian militants caught using cow as a 'mule' to smuggle ammo into Damascus

Syrian soldiers managed to bust a man who was attempting to smuggle a shipment of ammo hidden in a cow into Damascus.

Soldiers manning one of the checkpoints in the Syrian capital became suspicious of a small KIA truck that was transporting a cow. The troopers detained the truck and its driver, and upon closer examination discovered that the cow was covered in numerous hastily sewn cuts.

A source in the Syrian military told Sputnik that after the cow was slaughtered and dissected, it turned out that the cow's carcass contained scores of small packages loaded with ammo (the cow's stomach alone contained over ten such packages) that the militants were apparently attempting to smuggle from Daraa.

According to the source, the shipment was destined for militants holed up in several districts in the Damascus region that are currently being blocked by the Syrian military.
