Thermal coal futures on Zhengzhou Commodity Exchange dropped 7.5% Friday to 973 yuan ($152) a ton, the lowest since early September.
China's top economic planning body, the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), announced on its official WeChat account Friday that production costs for coal miners are much lower than current spot prices for the fuel, suggesting coal prices have more room to fall. NDRC cited initial results from a survey of top firms in all producing regions.

Photos of a "Man Pageant," costume day and lap dances Tuesday, Oct. 27, 2021, during Hazard High School's homecoming week.
Students and staff took part in a "Man Pageant" and "Costume Day" on Tuesday, according to Hazard High School's Facebook page.
Photos that were subsequently taken down from the athletics department's Facebook page showed students in underclothing giving lap dances to faculty and staff, including Hazard High School Principal Donald "Happy" Mobelini, who is also mayor of the Perry County city.
The explosive claim comes from Christopher Rufo, a prominent opponent of critical race theory (CRT) and its increasing acceptance as the basis for fighting racial injustices in the US. CRT views US society as inherently racist and beneficial to white people, including those who are not consciously racist themselves. Advocates say the situation can only be fixed if white people are taught about their privileges and start to actively fight against systemic racism.
According to a 'senior employee' at AT&T, cited by Rufo, the company's equity and diversity policies have embraced that viewpoint and require white employees to adhere to it. Participation in programs that are supposed to address race inequality is mandatory at AT&T, the source claimed.

The Liberal Democrats said the data indicated payments on a £211,000 mortgage could rise by more than £500 a year.
Politicians and analysts seized on a table "buried" in a report published by the Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) alongside the budget, which stated that mortgage interest payments were set for their biggest rise since at least 2008.
The Liberal Democrats said the data indicated that householders with the average mortgage of £211,000 could see their payments go up by more than £500 a year, while the investment firm AJ Bell said some people with larger mortgages could have to pay more than £1,000 extra a year.
Comment: It's likely that they have no idea what the financial markets will really look like because it seems that the establishment are gradually losing the ability to rig them as they have for many years, and, considering the dire state of economies following the destructive lockdowns, there are many more variables which threaten to destabilise them. What is however notable, and perhaps ominous, is that the last time we saw a similar hike there was a global economic crash.

I envy people who can ignore total war. They must feel so fuzzy inside. Personally I've always been somewhat turned off by the idea of my civilization being destroyed. Just never quite sat right with me. But I guess I've always been somewhat of a worry wart.
Sometimes I feel weird seeing atrocities no one else can see. Like, should I say something about those folks being led to the concentration camps or would that be awkward? Probably best to just let it slide, huh? Don't want to ruffle any feathers.
The funny thing about people who can't see the war is that they're the ones who the war is being waged against. A ferocious army vowed for their total destruction and they couldn't care less. Everyone's got better shit to do. The declaration of war was cast aside to the spam folder.
People are brainwashed to such a degree that they can't even access the part of their mind that should demand justice. The ability to fight has been weaned out of them. They lack the moral conviction to do what's right because they don't even know what right is.
Eddie Gonzalez fatally shot student Manuela Rodriguez while breaking up a confrontation, the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office said in a statement. He is expected to be arraigned in Los Angeles County Superior Court on Friday.
Gonzalez was patrolling an area near Millikan High School on Sept. 27 when he noticed an altercation between Rodriguez and another teenage girl, who was not named.
"States have now placed their initial orders of vaccine for kids. And upon FDA authorization of the vaccine, millions of doses will be shipped immediately to tens of thousands of pediatricians, family doctors, children's hospitals, community health centers, rural health clinics, and pharmacies - providers parents and kids know and trust," White House coronavirus response coordinator Jeff Zients told reporters on Wednesday.
Some 28 million young Americans would become eligible for protection from Covid-19 should the FDA authorize and CDC recommend the vaccine for children ages five through 11.
Comment: What benefits? As has been stated multiple times, children are much less susceptible to Covid than adults and they don't pass it on. They admit there are risks, so how can the benefit outweigh the risk? What advantage is there in vaccinating children?

The Russian president, it seems, has been working on his own concept of the elusive 'Russian idea' - a concept that has long puzzled philosophers and historians. At its heart, it suggests a nation has to have some unifying purpose or values that set it apart from others. Despite the preoccupation, this isn't a universally accepted truth - it's possible nations could substitute meaning for administrative functions.
However, from 1917 to 1991, the Soviet Union's purpose was clear: building communism. With the collapse of the USSR, this objective disappeared, and the post-Soviet Russian Federation was left struggling for an alternative. In the late 1990s, Boris Yeltsin established a commission to explore the Russian idea, but it failed dismally. Nobody could agree what it should be. The civic idea of nationhood remained supreme. Nevertheless, the search for the Russian idea continues.

The ruling is the juvenile court equivalent of a conviction for the boy, who was not identified because of his age.

Sheriff Adan Mendoza speaks at a press conference, Oct. 27, 2021 about the Oct. 21 shooting on the movie set of "Rust" at Bonanza Creek Ranch in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
Santa Fe County Sheriff Adan Mendoza said a lead slug taken from wounded film director Joel Souza's shoulder came from the F.LLI Pietta Long Colt .45 caliber revolver that Baldwin fired during a dress rehearsal Thursday afternoon for the Western movie "Rust" at the Bonanza Creek Ranch studio near Santa Fe.
Mendoza said the same shot mortally wounded cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who later died at a hospital.

Comment: Unlike in the West, it seems there are some benefits to having central planners that aren't yet completely ponerized: In China, back in June, amidst spiking commodity prices, it gave billions to its farmers in an attempt to alleviate the burden during harvest time; more recently it cracked down on internet shopping giant Alibaba over its monopolistic practices. That said, it looks like it may be too late for their largest and most indebted property developer, Evergrande, which, even with the state intervention, is predicted to collapse; albeit in a slow and controlled manner which is hoped to lessen the impact on the economy: China's real estate crisis explained
