Iran Cyber Defense Headquarters Makes Local Mail Servers

Iran's cyber defense headquarters has succeeded in making internal mail servers which would enable Iranian organizations and bodies to use local email addresses.

"One of the most important problems in the cyber arena in Iran is that many individuals and even university professors are using email services like Gmail and Yahoo and have no local email," head of the headquarters Saeed Rahimi said.

"Technical infrastructures have been built in the country and mail servers have been made at the cyber defense headquarters to manage Iranian emails," he added.

Security tightened at all Jewish schools in the country after gunman opened fire outside Ozar Hatorah school, Toulouse

At least three people have died, including two children, in a shooting outside a Jewish school in the French city of Toulouse on Monday morning, French media have reported.

One witness indicated that a gunman opened fire outside a private Jewish secondary school in the southern French city before fleeing on the back of a black scooter.

Five people were injured in the attack, which occurred as students were arriving for morning classes at the Ozar Hatorah school, a city official told Reuters.

Interior minister Claude Gueant broke off a visit in northeastern France to head for Toulouse, the police source said. French media reported that security was being tightened at all Jewish schools in the country.

Comment: Four children are now confirmed dead, including the school principal's daughter.

According to Le Monde, the names of the two soldiers shot dead in Montauban on Thursday are Mohamed Legouad and Abel Chenoulf, and the name of the soldier shot dead in Toulouse eight days ago is Imad Ibn-Ziaten.

Don Huber, emeritus professor of plant pathologiy at Purdue University, gave a two-and-a-half hour indictment of glyphosate herbicide and genetically modified crops at the Acres USA conference in December.

Dr. Huber detailed the negative impacts of glyphosate and GM crops on plants, soils, and the environment and animal and human health. He called glyphosate the "most abused chemical in the history of agriculture" and described GM crops as a "failed system."

Glyphosate's negative impacts on plants

Huber first detailed the negative impacts of glyphosate on crops, soils, and the environment based on papers that he and other scientists, such as Robert Kremer, a microbiologist with the USDA's Agricultural Research Service, have published.

Huber said glyphosate makes plants more susceptible to diseases, increases the virulence of soil-borne disease organisms, and immobilizes plant nutrients such as manganese. It is also toxic to beneficial soil organisms and accumulates in the soil.

Federal Jobless Aid Ending for 80,000 South Carolina Residents

Columbia - Extended federal unemployment benefits are being phased out for almost 86,000 jobless workers in South Carolina despite the state's high 9.3 percent jobless rate.

About 6,500 people will lose extended unemployment benefits starting in April. The remaining 79,000 jobless South Carolinians who now are getting extended jobless benefits will lose them at the end of the year, the S.C. Department of Employment and Workforce said Thursday.

Starting in January, workers who lose their jobs in South Carolina will qualify only for 20 weeks of unemployment checks. During the worst of the Great Recession, workers could get up to 79 additional weeks of jobless checks - for a total of 99 weeks of benefits - while they searched for a job.

The state's falling unemployment rate triggered the loss of extended benefits. Jobless workers in seven other states also lose their extended benefits.

Canada - Disgust and extreme disapproval were running high in London, Ont., Sunday after an intoxicated crowd of St. Patrick's Day revellers spent the previous night fuelling a huge street fire and attacking authorities who tried to intervene.

While no one was seriously injured as a mob of some 1,000 people took over a residential area popular with students, police said every officer responding to the situation was attacked during an upheaval that could have turned into something far worse.

"Never in my 32 years as a police officer have I observed behaviours that escalated to the point where there was risk that individuals could seriously be hurt or quite frankly killed," London's chief of police Brad Duncan told reporters.

"We will not tolerate this lack of respect for our community, our laws and specifically this neighbourhood."

The scene that drew 65 police in riot gear and 10 firefighters took place on Fleming Drive in the city's east end. The neighbourhood near Fanshawe College was described as a student enclave notorious for its parties and has been the site of previous disturbances, although none as large as the latest one.

Lemon Grove resident Michael John Kobulnicky, 50, a leader in the San Diego Tea Party and former regional director of the Southern California Conservative Party, is under arrest for allegedly kidnapping and raping a local woman on Fiesta Island.

"He dragged her out of the car and sexually assaulted her pretty brutally," San Diego Police Lt. Andra Brown told ECM news partner 10 News in late February, shortly after the February 25 assault occurred.

On his website, Kobulnicky lists his leadership roles as "currently the co-organizer and public relations representative for the San Diego Tea Party."

Maid in Lebanon Abuse Video Kills Herself

Suicide comes days after footage emerged of Ethiopian woman being violently dragged on Beirut street by male employer.


An Ethiopian domestic worker in Lebanon who was filmed being physically abused in public has committed suicide, local media have reported.

The video, first aired by Lebanese Broadcasting Corporation International (LBCI) last week, caused outrage by showing a man abusing Alem Dechasa as she cried on a street outside the Ethiopian embassy in Beirut.

The man was shown grabbing Dechasa and telling her, "get into the car" while she screamed out, "no, no, no". Another man then assisted in dragging Dechasa into the back of a car as she struggled to resist.

Asaminew Debelie Bonssa, Ethiopian general consul in Lebanon, told The Daily Star newspaper in Beirut that Dechasa committed suicide by hanging herself early on Wednesday morning at a psychiatric hospital where she had been taken after the incident.

Bonssa told The Daily Star that he had seen Dechasa on Saturday in the hospital and that she was making plans to return to Ethiopia.

Fox News Poll: 78% of Voters Oppose Sending Troops to Syria

American voters oppose U.S. military involvement in Syria, where the government has killed an estimated 7,500 people as it tries to end a year-long uprising. In addition, a majority thinks there should be a national debate before the U.S. intervenes in hot-spots around the world.

Arizona Sen. John McCain has called for U.S. air strikes to help the anti-government rebels -- something the United States did in Libya. A Fox News poll released Thursday shows that a slim 51 percent majority of voters opposes that action, while 37 percent support it.

Larger majorities oppose the U.S. providing weapons to anti-government groups (64 percent) and launching air strikes to try to oust the Syrian government (68 percent). Fully 78 percent of voters oppose U.S. troops on the ground in Syria.

Afghan lawmakers have reacted with fury after the US soldier accused of massacring 16 civilians in Afghanistan was flown out of the country to an American base in Kuwait.

The military said the unnamed staff sergeant had been transferred because there were no suitable facilities for long-term detention in Afghanistan, but the move signalled the US's desire to prevent the criminal case against him from becoming a flashpoint for further violence.

The decision has provoked fury in Afghanistan, where MPs have demanded that the soldier be handed over to the Afghan justice system and called on President Hamid Karzai to suspend all talks with the US until that happens.

Zangiabad, Afghanistan - Along the road to Zangiabad, where a U.S. soldier on Sunday murdered 16 innocent Afghans, including nine children, one destroyed village follows another.

There is very little life around here. Most houses have been levelled. Burnt-out cars and blackened remains scatter the path, reminders of the many roadside bombs and suicide attacks.

The little life there is travels inside the heavily armed American military convoys that thunder up and down the road. Here, these convoys are king.
