Putin our ally in Syria: Pat Buchanan gets it right, clueless candidates get it wrong

2016 US presidential candidates
Three Questions
  1. Of what real threat to US security was Saddam Hussein? The answer is none. Ever.
  2. Of what real threat to the US is Syrian president Bashar Assad? The answer is none.
  3. Is ISIS a threat? Obviously yes, but not to the degree imagined.
Formation of ISIS

US policy on Syria is centered on the removal of Assad in Syria even though Assad is no threat, but ISIS is.

And it was the bungled removal of Hussein that destabilized Iraq and directly led to the creation of ISIS.

In October, I noted former UK prime minister Tony Blair (who joined president Bush on the inane takeout of Saddam Hussein), Issued an Apology for Creation of ISIS.

Our allies ought to be those who want to fight ISIS, not alleged "moderate" Al Qaeda forces seeking to destabilize Syria, creating a refugee mess in the process.

Two people are missing and five people have been injured after reports of an explosion at the Celsa steelworks in Cardiff.

Police, fire and ambulance crews are on the scene and a fire has been put out, said South Wales Police in a statement. The blast was reported just after 10.30am and the search and rescue operation is still going on.

Witnesses reported hearing a large bang.

South Wales Fire and Rescue Service said the fire was in the building's "basement area". The Filton air ambulance and a Hazardous Area Response Team were also rushed to the site on East Moors Road. Four of the injured remain at the University Hospital of Wales, but there are so far no details on their condition. The fifth person hurt has been discharged.

A spokesman for steelworkers' union Community said: "We understand the incident was in the bar and rod mill on the site, not in the steel plant. "A member of our regional team is on his way to the site now to see what assistance we can offer and to seek further clarity on what has happened."

Police brutality persists despite elevated awareness

Two Alameda County Sheriff deputies are shown beating a man on a street in San Francisco's Mission District in a video provided by the San Francisco Public Defender's Office.
'This is clearly excessive force,' public defender says of police beating in San Francisco

Separate incidents in two U.S. cities over recent days reveal that tensions remain elevated over police brutality and use of excessive force in the United States.

Captured last week on tape, the beating of a man in San Francisco has been likened to the infamous assault on Rodney King by the Los Angeles Police Department in 1991. According to the San Francisco Chronicle, the video shows two still-unidentified Alameda County sheriff's deputies knocking 29-year-old Stanislav Petrov to the ground before "punching him and clubbing him with their batons, even after he appeared to surrender with his hands on his head."

Comment: More striking examples that the police continue to use excessive force and unnecessary brutality despite growing awareness! Considering the recent ruling by the Supreme Court it is clear that the police are well aware they can literally get away with murder!
With the death toll from police brutality continuing to mount, the US Supreme Court on Monday issued a decision expanding the authoritarian doctrine of "qualified immunity," which shields police officers from legal accountability...

This is the Supreme Court's response to the ongoing wave of police mayhem and murder. The message is clear: The killings will continue. Do not question the police. If you disobey the police, you forfeit your life.

So far this year, more than 1,000 people have been killed by the police in America. Almost every day, there are new videos posted online showing police shootings, intrusions into homes and cars, asphyxiations, beatings and taserings.

Sweden's security chief has raised the country's terror threat level to four on a scale of five, citing "concrete information." An investigation has been launched regarding the "preparation of terrorist offenses."

"One of the reasons for the increase is that the security service has received concrete information and concluded that we must act within the framework of our counter-terror work," Sweden's Security Police (SAPO) said in a statement.

"The strategic threat assessment is based partly on what is known in the present, and on possible future developments..." the statement continues, noting that the threat level is "assessed continuously" and "may change."

It goes on to state that the chief prosecutor at the National Security Service has launched a preliminary investigation regarding "preparation for terrorist offenses."

The decision to raise the terror threat level was based on data from the National Center for Terrorist Threat Assessment. The center is responsible for producing threat assessments for Sweden and Swedish interests abroad.

Comment: The threat levels and fear in Europe are at unprecedented levels. Nothing good will come out of this.

Angry farmers protest outside Greek Parliament as police use teargas

Greece protests
Jeering, tear gas, sound flares, water bottles and oranges were the highlights of the farmers' protest outside the Greek Parliament at Syntagma Square on Wednesday. More than 3,500 farmers, breeders and fishermen from all over Greece had gathered in Athens to protest taxation and social security reforms in their sector.

Tension went high short after 12 o'clock noon, when a farmers' delegation tried to break the police 'fence' consisting of several police vehicles and enter the Parliament in order to submit a protest resolution.

A Florida man was arrested for recording himself having the wrong kind of puppy love.

Billy Joseph-Edward Taylor, 25, filmed himself having sexual contact with a young pit bull, and emailed it to his then-girlfriend, the St. Johns County Sheriff's department said. She broke up with him after, and gave the footage to cops last week, police said.

She also found several other files on his computer where he had dirty acts with dogs, police said. Cops arrested Taylor on Tuesday afternoon, and charged him with sexual activities involving animals.
