UK Labor party councillor resigns following investigation over anti-Semitic social media comments

A UK Labour Party councillor who was being investigated by the party over anti-Semitic comments made on social media has resigned.

Damien Enticott had already been suspended from the party pending the investigation, but has now resigned. The controversial councillor wrote on Facebook that Hitler "would have had a solution to the Israel problem".

Enticott, a member of the Bognor Regis Town Council in West Sussex, apologized for causing offence but did not disavow his comments. In an interview with the BBC, he said that he had been watching a video in which Israeli soldiers were "shooting unarmed civilians, some of them children" and that he made the statement in that context.

"I don't agree with Hitler and genocide and anything like that. It was just quite a dry comment used out of frustration," he said.

Comment: While Israel richly deserves criticism over its heinous treatment of Palestinians and flagrant violations of international laws, such comments only play into their hands, allowing Israel and its apologists to continue playing the 'anti-Semitism' card, thus deflecting valid criticism. A Chicago-based newspaper columnist predicted re-election for President Trump in 2020 after witnessing first-hand the enthusiastic support for the president among blue-collar workers.

Neil Steinberg attended a recent appearance by the president at a U.S. Steel facility in Granite City, Illinois, outside St. Louis. He wrote about speaking to steel workers and seeing how Trump connected with the audience.

"We need steel," Trump said. "We need steel plants. And to see an old, big monster plant like this re-opening - that is an honor. I look at the faces of you people; I could be one of you. I like you guys. I could be one of you."

What you don't know about the Manchester bomber 'rescued from Libya' by the Royal Navy

HMS Enterprise
The HMS Enterprise was sent to evacuate British citizens from Libya in 2014.
The man responsible for the 2017 suicide bombing in Manchester is in the news again. The Daily Mail has reported that the Royal Navy "rescued" Salman Abedi from "war-torn Libya" in 2014. Right-wing media has labelled Abedi as ungrateful for betraying the country that saved his life.

The Daily Mail reported the news as though Abedi was part of an evacuation of British citizens. However, it failed to mention that MI5 knowingly sent British citizens, including Abedi's family, to Libya in 2011 to support the uprising.

The 'glamorous childfree life' is not the reality for most childless women

woman on bed
Twenty-five years ago, I made the decision to marry the man I love. I was 23 when I packed up my life in Montreal and moved to New York City for him. I had yet to actually meet this man, but as I drove down the I-87 to my new home, I was confident that I was headed exactly where I always expected to be: in love, married, and a mother. And on my first job interview in New York City, I even inquired about maternity benefits. After all, I was expecting twin girls.

To clarify, I wasn't pregnant. But since I was 10-years-old, I imagined that one day, I'd have twin girls - despite no familial history of twins.

But as the years in New York went by and I remained single, I eventually let go of that dream. I didn't care if I had three boys. I just wanted to be a mother.

Ultimately, I let go of that dream, too. I'm now 49, still single, and on the other side of hope for motherhood.

I've been in love. I believe in love. I've loved men who didn't love me back. I've loved men who weren't ready to love me-or anyone. I've met men whom I wanted to love, hoping so deeply to fall over the edge into love with them that it ached. But in the end, I found myself single and unwilling, unable, to settle.

US House Majority leader calls for Twitter CEO to face public hearing over shadow banning of conservative accounts

Twitter CEO, Jack Dorsey
House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy has requested a public hearing that would see Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey testifying on Twitter's "filtering and censorship practices" that have "disproportionally" affected conservatives.

In a letter to Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Greg Walden, McCarthy expressed his concerns over "revelations that some media companies are filtering the information that their users can see." In an apparent reference to Twitter, which is struggling to contain fallout from a recent report by Vice News that it 'shadow banned' accounts of prominent conservatives and Republican lawmakers, McCarthy said that "these filtering and censorship practices have targeted conservatives disproportionately."

Vice reported last week that Congressman Devin Nunes (R-California) and high-profile conservative pundits and commentators have had their Twitter outreach limited by the company, meaning that their accounts do not show up in a drop-down bar and their followers cannot see their tweets in their Twitter feeds.

Comment: Twitter's leftist bias has been fairly obvious for quite some time:

Texas serial killer: Bullied cop made a hit list and started killing his bullies

Joseph Pappas
An alleged serial killer is on the loose in Texas and, according to a former friend, he is taking out the people who bullied him in high school. Joseph Pappas, a former cop in the area, has already struck and his first victim was a cardiologist named Dr. Mark Hausknecht.

According to Houston police chief Art Acevedo, Pappas is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

"This man is dangerous. This man's capable. This man has some skills," Acevedo said at a news conference this week. "He's very dangerous, and we need to get him into custody."

According to police, Pappas began selling off items on Craigslist just before the killings in an apparent attempt to raise funds for what his former friend is calling a killing spree.

The former deputy for Harris County Precinct 2 and Precinct 7 took to Craigslist to sell two bullet-proof vests, a $4,500 rifle, a pistol, a bullet-proof panel for a Crown Victoria, and furniture.

Police in Zimbabwe have launched a crackdown on opposition leaders, raiding their headquarters and accusing them of inciting violence during protests in the capital, Harare, that left six people dead.

A search warrant issued by a city magistrate and seen by the Guardian said Nelson Chamisa, the leader of the Movement for Democratic Change (MDC), and several others were suspected of the crimes of "possession of dangerous weapons" and "public violence".

The warrant authorises police to search for and confiscate any evidence, including computers and documents, as part of their investigation.

The main headquarters of the MDC were closed on Thursday and guarded by a heavy contingent of police officers. A party official said 16 MDC workers had been taken away by the police for questioning.

Throughout the day the army patrolled the streets of Harare, after three people were shot dead on Wednesday when soldiers and police fought running battles with hundreds of protesters. Another three died of their injuries on Thursday, police said.

Cop found guilty of assault for violent attack against a 17 y.o. chained to a hospital bed

police assault
A veteran cop from the Guelph police department has been charged and convicted for his role in a savage beating caught on camera of a 17-year-old boy in a hospital - who was restrained to a bed. Failing to take responsibility for his actions, the officer blamed the incident on PTSD.

The incident happened in September of 2016 after the teen was admitted to Guelph General Hospital. The teen was apparently suicidal so he'd been restrained to a hospital bed and was taken to a safe room.

As the video shows, in spite of being chained to the bed, the teen was still flailing about, trying to cause himself harm. That's when officer Corey McArthur snapped and threw a vicious elbow about the face and upper body of the teen.

The blow resulted in a massive gash below the defenseless teen's eye which had to be treated with stitches by hospital staff.

After hospital staff investigated the cause of the teen's injuries, they watched the surveillance footage and then notified police. None of McArthur's fellow cops who witnessed the attack said a thing.

Censored media reports: US used Hiroshima atomic bomb victims as 'guinea pigs', survivor tells RT

Survivors of the Hiroshima atomic bomb were used as lab rats for US research, and the post-war occupation forces censored media reports attempting to shed light on the atrocity, a survivor of the nuclear attack told RT.

Setsuko Thurlow, a nuclear weapons disarmament activist and survivor of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima, told RT's Sophie Shevardnadze that US forces occupying Japan after the end of World War Two were more interested studying the effects of nuclear warfare than they were in helping victims of the attack.

"The United States established an institution called ABCC (Atomic Bomb Casualty Commission) and people were very happy that finally we got some medication, medical experts who knew what this was all about, who would help Japanese doctors who were at a loss,"Thurlow said while speaking on Shevardnadze's SophieCo program.

"But the sole purpose of the ABCC was to study the effects of radiation on human bodies, not to help the people sick because of the radiation. The survivors felt they were used as guinea pigs twice: first time as a target, second as a subject for research."

Israeli navy demonstrates psychotic 'tenderness' in boarding of Gaza Freedom flotilla

Yonatan Shapira
Yonatan Shapira
Yonatan Shapira was aboard the Al Awda boat in the Gaza Freedom flotilla when it was stopped in international waters by Israeli sailors three days ago and all on board arrested. His Facebook report in Hebrew was translated by Ofer Neiman, with the headline, "Israeli citizen and Palestine solidarity activist Yonatan Shapira on Israel's dirty attack on the peaceful Gaza flotilla: ื™ื•ื ืชืŸ ืฉืคื™ืจื ืžื“ื•ื•ื— ืžื”ืžืฉื˜ - ืขื‘ืจื™ืช ืœื”ืœืŸ" That translation follows.

So just as the IDF Spokesperson said: "The overtaking of the Al-Awda ship was carried out without violence and without exceptional events".

And indeed, everything was as usual -

They slammed Herman the captain's head against the wall again and again while threatening to take him to the ship's belly and finish him off when no one is watching.

A fist in the face of Arne Birge the old mechanic.

And the finest tradition: Electric shocks. This time we wore life vests of the type that covers the chest well. But don't worry, the brave naval commando combatants just electrocuted [Tasered] Charlie, the first officer, in his head. And more electric shocks to Juergen the cook and to 60 year old Mike, a chair of a trade union and a human rights activist from New Zealand.

But at the same time, things were done with a kind of psychotic tenderness.
