People protest the 2017 takeover of Monsanto by German firm Bayer.
Some of the UK's top DIY chains have put the popular weedkiller RoundUp under a safety review, after a landmark ruling in the US saw a man with terminal cancer successfully sue its manufacturer Monsanto.

Homebase, which has over 250 stores across the UK, said Saturday that they would review all of their products which contain the herbicide glyphosate. "We have confirmed that we will be reviewing our range of weedkiller products," a spokesperson for the company said.

Another store, B&Q, said that they have been reviewing its weedkillers regularly since 2017.

"We have a record of acting ahead of legislation where appropriate. We led the way in removing three pesticides in 2013 and neonicotinoids from our flowering plants in 2018.

Russia beat China and 30 other states in the biggest International Army Games yet, which wrapped up after 28 different disciplines were contested across seven countries.

After the fourth edition of the annual competition finished with a Russian win in the tank biathlon - the most popular event in what has become the military version of the Olympics - at a testing ground just outside Moscow, Defense Minister Sergey Shoigu expressed his own amazement at the rapid expansion of the competition.

"Did we expect these games to grow to this size? We didn't think it, but we dreamed of it. And now there are tens of millions following this amazing contest around the world. They watch and think: best not mess with these guys. They realize - the equipment these guys use is perfect, and they are in perfect control of it," said Shoigu.

A viral video showing New Mexico State Police smashing a car window and pulling a man from the vehicle sparked outrage online. Officers have responded by releasing their own video of the incident.

Phillip Page and passenger Angela Fisher-Herrera were pulled over in Taos County in February for not wearing a seatbelt, the Albuquerque Journal reports. Page shared a video of the incident on Facebook last week, which shows an officer breaking his car window and pulling Page from the car.

Police have come out in defense of the officer's actions, saying Page was refusing to comply for 15 minutes before they broke the window. They say he wouldn't show his identification and was asked to roll down the window 20 times and was warned his window would be broken if he failed to comply.

"I'm standing by my officers," NMSP Chief Pete Kassetas said. "At some point after a certain amount of time of noncompliance, something has to happen."

YouTube censors SouthFront's latest video analysis "Russian Military Campaign in Syria 2015-2018"

youtube censored
YouTube is censoring SouthFront's new 1.5-hour long video "Russian Military Campaign in Syria 2015-2018".

This video is a detailed summary of military and political developments in Syria since the start of the Russian military operation until now. It was released by SouthFront on August 11.

Less than 2 hours after the release, this video was placed behind an age restriction because it allegedly includes "violent or graphic content that appears to be posted in a shocking, sensational, or disrespectful manner". The age-restriction clearly impacts a possible reach of the video because it does not allow people without YouTube accounts to watch it.

Maria Zakharova was named honorary guest at the 58th Brass Band Festival in the Serbian town of Guca on Friday, where she was filmed walking along the streets, accompanied by Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, and enjoying the local cuisine. She was later seen surrounded by a brass band and moving to the grooves of Balcan music.

The Guca Trumpet Festival, one of the biggest in Serbia, also known as Dragacevski Sabor, draws hundreds of thousands of visitors every year. The trumpet is a traditional instrument in the folk music of Serbia.

President Trump has called his former aide Omarosa Manigault Newman a "lowlife," after the former contestant on the Apprentice reality tv show, in her upcoming memoir, accused the US leader of being racist.

"Lowlife. She's a lowlife," Donald Trump said Saturday, after being asked by a New York Times correspondent if he feels "betrayed by Omarosa?"

After her abrupt dismissal last December, Newman wrote 'Unhinged: An Insider Account of the Trump White House,' her memoir in which she claims Trump used the "N-word" when he hosted the reality show. The aide was referring to a long-rumored but yet-to-surface recording of Donald Trump that, she argues in her book, might have cost her job at the White House.

The Daily Beast is working on a major story about sexual harassment and misconduct at NBC News, sources tell Mediaite.

The story involves varying allegations against senior NBC News executives, and relates to alleged misconduct from years ago as well as more current allegations against network brass.

One source told Mediaite that executives at NBC News are "panicked" by the reporting. NBC News did not provide comment.

The Beast's reporting comes in a tumultuous year for NBC News. The network was rocked by sexual harassment allegations against star Today show host Matt Lauer, who was fired after a colleague came forward to accuse him of inappropriate behavior. No charges issued for reckless cop who ran a stop sign and killed a man on a scooter

police crash
Highlighting the problem of blue privilege in America, an Atlanta police officer ran a stop sign, killed an innocent man on a motorized scooter and he hasn't even been issued so much as a ticket.

A representative for the Georgia State Patrol said troopers were called to the intersection of Newcastle Street and Washington place around 4:30 Wednesday afternoon in response to the fatal collision.

According to officials, as the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports, Atlanta police Officer Ryan Chandler, 24, ran a stop sign and was not using emergency lights at the time of the crash. The man on the scooter was taken Grady Memorial Hospital, where he died. His name has not been released.

According to police, Chandler was uninjured, but for some reason, he was taken to the hospital as well.

Highlighting the sheer above the law attitude of police in this matter is the fact that no charges have been filed in spite of all the facts already known. Officials claim that they have launched an investigation, however.

A witness showed WSB-TV a video of the aftermath which she said was so horrifying that she could not sleep after seeing it.

A Connecticut police officer has been suspended after a video emerged of him warning suspected trespassers not to do anything stupid, because he is "trigger-happy" and will be paid for overtime if someone gets shot.

"If anybody wants to fight or run, I'm a little trigger-happy guys, I'm not gonna lie. And I get paid a ton of money in overtime if I have to shoot somebody. So don't do anything stupid," Hartford Police Sergeant Stephen Barone is heard telling a group of young people that he stopped for alleged trespassing on Thursday night.
