A hand-written and decorated Quran given to the library by the mother of Turkish Sultan Abdul Aziz
Today on the Truth Perspective we begin our foray into the wide, labyrinthine world of Western Islamic studies, probing the big question of Islamic origins, looking at both the conditions under which it originated and the relation between the violent jihadists today and the religion of the 7th to 9th centuries.

Basing our discussion on Peter Townsend's The Mecca Mystery: Probing the Black Hole at the Heart of Islam and Shiraz Maher's Salafi-Jihadism: The History of an Idea, we take a look at what the historical record really tells us about Muhammed, Mecca, and the principal power players around when Islam began, as well as what modern jihadists truly believe - based on their own theorists and their foundational writings. So if you were ever curious about Islam, join us today on the Truth Perspective for the beginning of a discussion into these complex and controversial topics.

It's time to retoxify masculinity

Retoxify Masculinity
Let's be clear: My pronouns are "he," "his," and "stop being creepy weirdos."

Okay, maybe the last one isn't a pronoun, but then again, I'm a man and if I want an insulting string of words directed at the nattering nabobs of gender neutrality to be a pronoun, it is a pronoun. And if you don't like it, fight me.

We need more masculinity, and the more toxic the social justice warriors think it is, the better.

Comment: Seems very reasonable, considering that this is what the SJWs want: Post-nihilism, a template for where we are heading

Yellow Vests evolving, organizing over key local and national problems - Professor

Over 30,000 people joined the Yellow Vests protests across France on Saturday as the demonstrations entered their ninth consecutive week. Speaking to Sputnik, Dr. Emmanuel Dupuy, president of the Institute of European Perspective & Security Studies, suggested that the movement has hit a vital nerve at the core of French society.

Sputnik: What's happening on the ground right now?

Emmanuel Dupuy: At this time, we see a roundup of the manifestation. We are experiencing a new type of organisation, with more coordinating procedure. The manifestation is now split into two, both in the city of Paris, and in the centre of France, in the city of Bourges, to show that the movement is not only focused on a certain number of political grievances, but more on a social and societal dynamic, and this is why, symbolically, part of this region decided to have this manifestation in the centre of France in Bourges.

Comment: The Yellow Vest protests were the first major movement of their kind following the increasingly brutal economic measures meted out to much of Europe over the last decade or more, and, although their future is unsure, what does seem to be clear is that apart from a few meagre concessions the political elite are showing no signs of changing their ways: And check out SOTT radio's:

Saudi women no longer need male guardian permission for childbirth procedures

Pregnant women in Saudi Arabia are no longer obliged to get permission from their male guardians to undergo vital childbirth procedures including C-sections, The National reported.

Previous regulations required women in Saudi Arabia to obtain a signed permission from their male guardians over a wide range of childbirth procedures but now they are allowed to decide independently how they want to deliver, according to the outlet.

From now on, they can also request information on their pregnancy status and expected due date without permission from their male guardians, the newspaper reported.

The decision comes as part of an easing of rules on gender separation in Saudi Arabia. Last year, Saudi women were officially allowed to get behind the wheel and attend football matches.

Because 'diversity': Twitterati scorns British police for recruitment campaign reserved for women and minorities

The recruitment workshop apparently gives priority to women and minorities. According to their website, the police force “will initially only offer places on this workshop to women and black and minority ethnic candidates.”
Citing a need for greater diversity within its ranks, the British Transport Police will host a recruitment workshop reserved for women and minorities. The PC cops defended the move after receiving mountains of scorn on Twitter.

In a tweet advertising the event, the police force wrote: "Female or from a black or minority ethnic background? Interested in becoming a police officer? Come to our next recruitment workshop at 6pm on 23 January in Camden."

Comment: Considering the level of violence on London's streets, a recruitment campaign aimed at finding the most competent candidates would appear to be the most prudent course of action, particularly since London's 'gender equal' police needs the public to protect them! Case in point:

Liberal media ignores or downplays 100,000 person anti-abortion march in D.C.

March for life
An estimated 100,000 people - including Vice President Mike Pence - gathered in DC on Friday for the annual March for Life.

The media, as always, is either outright ignoring the massive march or severely downplaying the impressive size of the crowd.

USA Today, the first result when you search for the march in Google News, began their story by saying, "more than a thousand anti-abortion activists, including many young people bundled up against the cold weather gripping the nation's capital, gathered at a stage on the National Mall Friday for their annual march in the long-contentious debate over abortion."

The only answer to the attack on men is women standing up to feminist elite

feminist activist patriarchy
The feminist mission to destroy the so-called patriarchy and to create a matriarchy instead has officially hit its peak.

Back in 2009, in "The Shriver Report: A Woman's Nation Changes Everything," Maria Shriver wrote:
As we move into this phase we're calling a woman's nation, women can turn their pivotal role as wage-earners, as consumers, as bosses, as opinion-shapers, as co-equal partners in whatever we do into a potent force for change. Emergent economic power gives women a new seat at the table - at the head of the table.

Army retracts fake news story of soldier saving a man's life with a pen & hoodie

Sgt. Trey Troney, a field artillery cannon crewmember assigned to the Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 1st Armored Division stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas.
The US Army has been forced to embarrassingly retract a story about a sergeant saving a man's life using nothing but a hoodie and a pen, after an investigation revealed the tale was completely made up.

The Army Times published a story on January 9 praising the life-saving efforts of Sergeant Trey Troney, a 20-year-old field artillery cannon crewmember stationed in Fort Bliss, Texas. The now-deleted report claimed that Troney saved the life of Jeff Udger following a car accident in Sweetwater, Texas on December 22.

The dramatic tale starts with Troney stumbling upon the accident on his way home to Mississippi for Christmas. The soldier claimed he wrapped his 'Salute to Service' New Orleans Saints hoodie around Udger's head to stop a bleeding head wound, and carried out a life-saving maneuver in the style of TV doctors, by using the tube from a ballpoint pen to treat Udger's collapsed lung.

Chicago cop who killed Laquan McDonald sentenced to 81 months in prison

Former Chicago police Officer Jason Van Dyke and his attorney Daniel Herbert listen to proceedings during his sentencing hearing.
White former Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke was sentenced on Friday to nearly seven years in prison for shooting black teen Laquan McDonald to death in 2014 in a landmark case that highlighted racial tensions in America's third-biggest city.

After a jury convicted Van Dyke, 40, of second-degree murder last fall, Cook County Circuit Court Judge Vincent Gaughan sentenced him to 81 months in prison and said he would have to serve at least two years before he was eligible for parole.

Activists wanted a longer sentence. Van Dyke could have received up to 20 years in prison for second-degree murder and up to 30 years for each of 16 counts of aggravated battery - one count for each shot he fired at 17-year-old McDonald, who was carrying a knife.

During sentencing, Van Dyke sat expressionless, unshaven and wearing a yellow-orange jail uniform. In a statement he read before the sentence, Van Dyke, said he was scared of McDonald and called the shooting "the worst day of my life."

White comedian rejected for show in Montreal after dreadlocks deemed 'cultural appropriation'

Zach Poitras
© Postmedia Network
Zach Poitras has been denied a spot at the Snowflake Comedy Club due to sporting dreadlocks.
An aspiring Montreal comedian has been told he cannot take part in shows at a university bar because his dreadlocks are a form of cultural appropriation.

The Coop les Récoltes, a bar and solidarity co-operative at the Université du Quebec à Montréal, confirmed on Facebook its decision to exclude Zach Poitras, who is white, because of his hairstyle. Poitras, denied a spot at the Snowflake Comedy Club and another evening of "engaged humour," declined comment on the situation.

The bar is operated by the UQAM branch of the Public Interest Research Group, which focuses on environmental and social issues. In its Facebook statement, the co-operative says its mission is to be "a safe space, free of relationships of oppression." It describes cultural appropriation as a form of violence.

Comment: First of all, anyone who knows a little history knows dreadlocks are not exclusive to black Jamaican culture: the Indians had them, Minoans had them, Egyptians, certain Native American tribes had them... actually, if you check the Wikipedia page, there's a good dozen cultures listed that had dreadlocks. And, guess what? So did the Vikings and ancient Greeks! Whiteys! So a white person with dreadlocks isn't appropriating anything.

But even to make this argument is stooping to the SJW level because cultural appropriation isn't a thing. Cultures have always been free to adopt each other's traditions because that's how cultures expand and evolve. For now, people are allowed to dress and wear their hair however they choose. That's what it means to live in a free society.
