Memphis police officers block off the entrances to the Oak Court Mall Monday night after a disturbance in the food court sent patrons into a panic.
A flurry of reports of mall melees and disturbances rippled across social media Monday on a day Americans swarmed shopping hubs for post-holiday bargains.

Disturbances that led to some malls being evacuated included reports from Elizabeth, N.J.; Fayetteville, N.C.; East Garden City, N.Y.; Aurora, Colo.; Tempe, Ariz.; Beachwood Place, a suburb of Cleveland; and Memphis.

About 10 people were injured during a melee at the Jersey Gardens mall in Elizabeth on Sunday evening, Mayor Chris Bollwage said in a tweet.

The injuries were non-life-threatening, Bollwage said. A fight in the food court led to false reports of a shooting after a chair was thrown and hit the ground loudly, officials said.

Posts on social media showed police with machine guns responding to the food court. Police evacuated the building as a precaution, and hours later there were still long lines waiting for NJ Transit buses as it began to rain.

Sergio Cleto, a tourist from Brazil, was waiting for a bus back to Manhattan. "We saw the kids fighting ... then everyone began to run and everything is a mess after that," Cleto said.

Tragedy drives New York man to give 'Safe Haven' to thousands of babies

To untold numbers of children, he's simply Uncle Tim.

Nearly 3,300 babies across the country who otherwise might have been abandoned and perhaps died have found homes in the past 17 years, thanks in part to the efforts of Tim Jaccard, a retired New York police ambulance medic who grew weary of responding to calls of dead infants abandoned in trash cans and alleys.

"To hold a newborn infant in your arms and have to pronounce that child dead is heart-wrenching," said the 66-year-old father and grandfather from Long Island. "My gut feeling was that I was being sent on these particular calls to try and see what's going on and change it. I had to stop this insanity."

Not only did he help spearhead a movement in all 50 states to enact "safe haven" laws that give mothers in crisis the option of leaving their newborns at police stations, hospitals or firehouses without fear of prosecution, he also founded the national Baby Safe Haven organization that acts as a go-between to make such drop-offs as safe as possible.

The crash of a Russian Tu-154 on route to Syria with dozens of musicians, journalists and a famous charity doctor onboard has resulted in a wave of condolences from leaders and ordinary people from around the world. Messages of sympathy have been particularly numerous in the ex-Soviet Union, where appreciation for the Alexandrov Ensemble is strong.

Russia is continuing its search for the wreckage of the Russian military plane off the coast of the Black Sea, where it crashed in the early hours of Sunday morning shortly after refueling outside Sochi. The aircraft, enroute to Syria from Moscow, was carrying 92 people, including 64 musicians of the renowned Alexandrov Ensemble, nine journalists, head of the Fair Aid medical charity Elizaveta Glinka, eight crew and two civil servants. All the passengers and crew are feared dead.

LA CAIR director slanders dead Russians, insults Muslims, tries to backtrack as Twitter users call him out

hussam ayloush
Ayloush tried to walk back his disgusting tweet, but twitter users were not going to let him off the hook that easily.

Today The Duran reported on a story about the Executive Director of the Council on American - Islamic Relations (CAIR), Hussam Ayloush, tweeting that he is sad about the tragic plane crash in the Black Sea...

"because the doomed plane could have carried more people whose death he would celebrate."

Comment: Yep, evil. Who would've guessed it would be the Democrats who would turn out to be the crazies? They are both anti-Islam (in their disdain and hate for Syrians battling a war on terrorism) and pro-jihadi, which are basically two sides of the same coin.

Anonymous' recently released journalist Barret Brown still vows never to back down

Barret Brown
Barrett Brown, the activist and journalist known best for his work with anonymous, was recently released from jail after serving a brutal 4-year sentence. During that time he spent at least 6 months in solitary confinement, and now that he is released, he still faces 6 months of house arrest and will owe over $800 thousand in restitution fees.

Brown was a controversial figure who became a target for federal law enforcement due to his support of anonymous and his aggressive style of activism and journalism.

During his trial, Brown had a long list of charges stacked against him and was facing over 100 years in prison. Ultimately, the charge that actually stuck was a hacking charge that was related to Brown copying and pasting a link to already hacked Wikileaks material into a chat room for other activists and journalists to research. He did not actually carry out the hack in question, nor is he accused of doing so. He was simply accused of placing a link in a chat room and sharing information about an important leak, something that any serious journalist at the time should have been doing.

Brown was ultimately convicted for the crime of being a real journalist who was not afraid to expose the secrets and crimes of those in power. For generations, the establishment has had the media so tightly controlled to the point where pre-approved journalists are the only ones allowed to ask pre-approved questions of those in power, and anyone who prints anything critical of an authority figure or advertiser is sure to see their career crash and burn.

People gather by a Christmas tree near damaged buildings during Christmas eve in al-Hamidiyah neighborhood in the old city of Homs, Syria December 24, 2016.
On Sunday, Syria's Christian communities celebrated Christmas. President Assad and the First Lady visited the Our Lady of Saidnaya Monastery. Footage of the president's gesture, and of joyous Christmas celebrations taking place across the country, has prompted social media users to ask: 'Why isn't the mainstream media covering this?!'

On Christmas Day, President Bashar Assad and First Lady Asma Assad paid a symbolic visit to the Our Lady of Saidnaya Monastery and orphanage about 25 km north of Damascus. Footage of the visit, which shows the Assads greeting and embracing the monastery's nuns and children, has since gone viral online.

The Assad family's gesture of support for the country's ancient Christian community has led to questions among social media users about why much of the mainstream Western media continues to berate the country's tolerant secular nationalist government, while tacitly downplaying the radical Islamist beliefs of forces seeking regime change.

Sixty percent of Germans want enhanced video surveillance in public spaces, according to a new YouGov poll conducted following an attack in Berlin in which a truck plowed into crowds at a Christmas market, killing 12 and injuring dozens.

As many as 73 percent of poll respondents also want police ranks to be beefed up, while 61 percent say providing police with better equipment is a must, according to n-tv news channel.

A total of 2,083 people took part in the YouGov survey conducted on December 21-23 for German news agency dpa.

One in two respondents taking part in the YouGov survey also called for the Bundeswehr, Germany's armed forces, to get more involved in the event of a terrorist attack. Currently, soldiers may only be deployed when police ask for help to deal with major incidents.

It was not completely clear, however, which forces would be most suitable to take on which tasks, n-tv reported, adding that the Bundeswehr and police's first joint exercise is scheduled for next March.

Christmas in Iran: Christian Holiday in the Muslim Country

As Christians around the world celebrate Christmas, you might be surprised to learn that the holiday season is also observed in Iran, a predominantly Muslim nation where Christians make up less than 1% of the country's population.

Christianity however has a long history in Iran, dating back to the early years of the faith. It has been practiced in the country longer than the state religion, Islam. According to the country's statistics, today there are at least 600 churches for 300,000 - 370,000 Christians in Iran, most of whom are Armenians who are followers of the Oriental Orthodox branch of Christianity.

Comment: Quite a different side of Iran than the one that normally gets broadcasted to the world.

Saudi Arabia's repressive regime: Partygoers arrested over video of 'mixing' and drinking

whip
Authorities in Saudi Arabia have arrested a number of suspected revelers after a video emerged showing them drinking and dancing at a 'mixed' party in Jeddah, local media report.

The clip, posted on YouTube last Tuesday, shows a group of young men and women enjoying themselves on the terrace of a building while music plays in the background. The women are dressed in Western-style clothes while bottles and drinks, presumably alcoholic, are seen on the table.

Pea-brained cops raid wrong home then humiliate family by posting photos of them handcuffed on Snapchat

merry christmas nypd
NYPD police officers just raided the wrong home and then posted photos of the innocent family in handcuffs to Snapchat. Police claim that they were searching for a suspect in the apartment and had a warrant. However, the family does not know nor do they have any connection with the suspect. It is not clear why their house was targetted, and the NYPD has refused to answer any questions about the incident.

The two photos which later appeared on social media featured the captions "Merry Christmas Its NYPD" and "Warrant Sweeps, It's Still A Party SMH."

While the name of the officer and his squad was not released by the NYPD, it was confirmed that the officer was identified within the department and suspended without pay.
