Number of veterans who are waiting over a month for treatment has grown 50% since last year

veteran scandal
It's been over a year since it was discovered that the Department of Veterans Affairs had been using "secret lists" to conceal the fact that they had abysmal wait times for veterans in need, some whom died while waiting to be treated. Unfortunately, not much has changed with the VA, save the fact that they can no longer cover up their incompetence/lack of resources.

Now the number of veterans who are waiting one month or more for their treatment, has grown 50% since last year, and they're currently facing a $3 billion budget shortfall. The VA is now considering furloughs and hiring freezes to continue their operation.

Comment: It's a sickening truth that those in Congress are always ready to send soldiers off to war and to publicly congratulate them for service, but when it comes time to actually take care of these same people, those in charge cannot be bothered.

Why Does The U.S. Government Treat Military Veterans Like Human Garbage?

Draft Dodging 101: Keeping your freedom in times of crisis

soldiers
Earlier this week, Michael Krieger of Libertyblitzkrieg.com wrote about the likelihood of a military draft in America's future. He suggested that high ranking members of the Washington establishment are currently contemplating the return of mandatory government service, ostensibly to fight ISIS. Unlike previous drafts though, this one wouldn't be restricted to the military, but would include mandatory service for organizations like the Peace Corps and Americorps. Unfortunately for the future of freedom in America, he makes a pretty compelling case.

While it may sound outlandish to many, I can see how this might come to pass. While most Americans think the draft is a terrible idea, there's also a strong sentiment that the current "millennial" generation is out of touch, and perhaps a draft will instill some respect and discipline among them. They'll also make the case that we need to fight ISIS. While most Americans don't want to send troops to the Middle East, most people agree that ISIS is evil and should be destroyed.

And finally, for those who find the idea of military service unpalatable, this draft would allow people to do "community service" instead of engaging in front line combat. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though the vast majority of Americans hate the idea of a draft, the propagandists have a few ways to make them shrug and accept it without putting up too much of a fight.

Comment: Good tips, but use at your own risk. Any way one can legally avoid being even more strongly tied to the beast is worth investigating.

New flotilla bound for Gaza: Swedish boat leaves Italy as part of latest aid effort

Pro-Palestinian flotilla aiming to break Israel's naval blockade of Gaza Strip

A vessel from Sweden that will form part of a Pro-Palestinian flotilla aiming to break Israel's naval blockade of the Gaza Strip is on its way to its final destination.

The Marianne of Gothenburg is the first boat of the so-called Freedom Flotilla III to set sail and will aim to deliver medical equipment and solar cell panels for use in Gaza, according to a statement by the Ship to Gaza campaign.

The boat traveled from Sweden through the waters of Norway, Germany, France, Spain and Portugal before reaching Messina, Italy, last week.

"The short stop in Messina was an intensive one with meetings with peace activists and a press conference at the city hall," the group noted on their website.

The boat was expected to arrive in Greece this week, before attempting to breach the blockade and reach Gaza.

In May 2010 nine Turkish citizens were killed after Israeli commandos raided the Mavi Marmara, part of a flotilla that was attempting to reach Gaza. An Israeli inquiry found that the soldiers opened fire after the activists aboard the ship attempted to attack them with knives and metal rods.

Comment: It will be interesting to see if Israel handles this new aid effort the way it handled the Mavi Mara.

Video shows Chicago cop opening fire on black teens in a car

A recently released dashcam video shows a Chicago police officer firing over a dozen shots into a car full of six unarmed black teenagers in December 2013.

Retired Judge Andrew Berman released the video to the Chicago Reporter after calling it the most unsettling thing he has seen in his 18 years as a judge and 17 years as a public defender.

The officer had pulled the vehicle over for speeding, and as the teens attempted to flee by backing away from the officer, the officer began firing into the vehicle, seemingly with no real target or threat of danger. Two of the teens were shot, one in the shoulder and the other in the left hip and right heel.

Comment: Truly despicable act by this so called protector of civil life.

'Refugees are welcome here': Thousands march in Berlin to support migrants, Greece

Thousands have taken to the streets of Berlin to express their solidarity with asylum seekers coming to Europe. The activists also expressed their support for the people of Greece, who are suffering from a long-running debt crisis.

Organized by German opposition parties Die Linke (The Left) and Gruenen (The Greens), as well as other organizations, the protest coincided with UN World Refugee Day.

German police estimated up to 2,500 people attended the rally.

Comment: Hopefully more people will join the protests across Europe.

Mass shootings in Detroit and West Philly

mass shootings
At least seven people, including a two-year-old and eleven-year-old child, were injured in West Philadelphia after a shotgun-wielding attacker fired into a street picnic, local police said. The children were hospitalized in critical condition.

The report comes almost simultaneously with news from a block party in Detroit, where one person was killed and 9 injured in a shooting on the same Saturday evening.

It was not immediately clear why the West Philadelphia shooter targeted the block party on Ogden Street, according to local police.

The last rebels: 25 things we did as kids that would get someone arrested today

Image
With all of the ridiculous new regulations, coddling, and societal mores that seem to be the norm these days, it's a miracle those of us over 30 survived our childhoods.

Here's the problem with all of this babying: it creates a society of weenies.

There won't be more rebels because this generation has been frightened into submission and apathy through a deliberately orchestrated culture of fear. No one will have faced adventure and lived to greatly embroider the story.

Comment: The programming of society to be a dependent populace is nearly complete. It is up to us to break this cycle.

Unjust but 'legal' banditry: Officials seize life savings from college student, file no charges but keep his money

civil forfeiture, charles clark

Charles Clark
Charles Clarke's $11,000 in savings were seized by law enforcement officials before he boarded his flight to Florida in February 2014. A year later, and with no crime charges brought against him, police have yet to return Clarke's money.

At the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport, authorities from the Drug Enforcement Administration searched through Clarke's belongings after a ticket agent said his bag smelled like marijuana. Prompted by the police, Clarke said that he had $11,000 on him and admitted to smoking marijuana en route to the airport.

Although authorities found no drugs after the search, they still seized his money. Now, with help from the Institute for Justice, Clarke is taking his case to federal court.

"I was scared, it was a ton of emotions going through my mind," Clarke told Business Insider. "I didn't know what to do or what was going to happen; I just knew I was losing my life savings and that I wouldn't have anything when it was gone."

Clarke's $11,000 came from five years' worth of jobs, financial aid, gifts, and his mother's benefits as an injured Army veteran, according to Forbes. Because his mother was moving apartments, Clarke took the money with him when he flew to Cincinnati, Ohio, to visit his family, fearing the moving company would find it.

Comment: Federal civil forfeiture laws feature an appalling lack of due process: They empower the government to seize private property from Americans without ever charging, let alone convicting, them of a crime. Perversely, the government then pockets the proceeds while providing no prompt way to get a court to review the seizure. Police forces throughout the country are also taking advantage of civil forfeiture laws to enrich themselves and their departments. It seems the police now have a mandate to do as they please, knowing there will be few repercussions from their actions.

Dust from abandoned iron ore mine casting a pall around Canadian township

Dust from the Wabush mine hangs in the air in Wabush, Labrador in this photo taken in July 2014.
Heavy dust clouds blowing from Cliffs Natural Resources' abandoned Wabush iron ore mine into a small township in the eastern Canadian province of Newfoundland and Labrador is putting a focus on the liability of miners that seek creditor protection and walk away from assets.

Iron ore and coal miner Cliffs Natural Resources Inc announced in February 2014 it was shutting down its Wabush mine. This year it sought creditor protection for its Canadian assets.

The fate of the deserted mine is in limbo until it is either acquired by a rival or Cliffs is able to restructure and exit creditor protection.

Local residents say the abandoned site has many open pits, with drilling equipment, trucks and other equipment stranded on the site.

"Now that the company has gone into closure, it is very hard to maintain a relationship with them. From a corporate level, we have not heard anything from them in almost a year, if not longer," said Colin Vardy, mayor of the town of Wabush. "I'm very disappointed. ... They haven't been paying their town taxes."

Comment: Another example of corporate culpability and refusal to assume responsibility for their environmental degradation and its ensuing effects on the local population.

Is humanity developing mass resistance to government lies?

resistance
Throughout nature it is well known that species will experience changes in its DNA and adaptations in its physical expression and behavior solely for the purposes of surviving in its environment. There are numerous examples in nature of species genetically and physically adapting to its environment for survival reasons. So it's not a far-fetched suggestion that humanity itself may now be experiencing a physiological mental and cerebral transformation which is changing its behavioral pattern and environmental response to the phenomenon of government.

That's right, as humans we have an obligation to think critically and objectively when considering the plight of humanity as it struggles in these modern days against the new world order and the human control system. It is up to us to consider the objective expression of this battle for freedom against the oppressive and defective component of humanity known as government.

Whether you understand it or not, those that wish to control you are a parasite on the species. Their infective process is carried out by thought signals within other concurring members of the species. These thought signals of control, rules, laws, policing, and legal system of enslavement perpetuate itself within the species, and is the very system that we know as the controlling governmental system. It seeks to simply control and enslave others. There is really no other purpose for its existence. It generates the mental signals needed to perpetuate the control system of enslavement to take away your individual freedom and your wealth and money. It does all of this by the system of rules we logically understand today as government.
