Operation "Don't Be Cruel" aimed to arrest people with outstanding warrants who had committed crimes against animals and was carried out by the Precinct One Constable's Office animal cruelty unit and the Houston SPCA.
Some of the cases were incredibly alarming.
In a press conference announcing 13 arrests and 25 cleared warrants, the case of Edmond Megdal stood out above the rest.
"We discovered 230-plus animals living in his residence from birds to turtles, to mice to rabbits, bearded dragons, and they were living in deplorable conditions. No water ... so he had an animal cruelty warrant for his arrest and he was one of those that we arrested this morning," Constable Alan Rosen said during the police press conference after the raids.
The electric vehicle, fully engulfed in flames, was captured on video by shocked oncoming drivers. One of them even caught the moment the burning vehicle was ripped apart by several violent blasts.
A man has been arrested in connection with the shooting, which happened in Saturday afternoon.
It is not yet known how seriously the victim was injured at the al-Noor Islamic Centre.
The gunman is said to be a white man wearing a helmet and a uniform.
"My son Julian Assange is being slowly, cruelly & unlawfully assassinated by the US and UK Governments, for multi-award winning journalism revealing war crimes & corruption!" she wrote.
She also tweeted a link to a report from a United Nations expert who called for a stop to the "collective persecution" of the whistleblower.

The internationally famous choir has never admitted any females in its 554-year history, although it has a girls-only partner choir that her daughter is welcome to join.
The State and Cathedral Choir Berlin's gender-based admissions criteria violate Germany's constitution, the girl's mother has declared, hauling the boys-only choir into court on charges that it violates her daughter's right to equal opportunities in state support.
The internationally famous choir has never admitted any females in its 554-year history, although it has a girls-only partner choir that her daughter is welcome to join. However, the mother insists that this group is not of the same caliber as the historic boys' institution, which was made famous by Romantic composer Felix Mendelssohn, and she says the state must step in to make things right. The family's names have not been made public.
Comment: One might wonder if the child is seriously attached to becoming the only female in an all-boy's choir or if she is merely a pawn of her mother's ambition.
Throngs of protesters armed with umbrellas showed up at Sakharov Avenue on Saturday for an opposition rally that, this time, was planned in consultation with the city authorities.
The spacious, heavily guarded venue - usually a busy street - and some celebrity appearances ensured a high attendance, even though it also meant tediously long queues at the metal detectors installed by police.
Comment: RT further reports on the illegal, breakaway protests:
Several hundred people marched from the downtown Moscow's main rally site deeper into the city center, making their way to Maroseika Street and the surrounding areas - full of restaurants and clubs and within walking distance from the Kremlin - to continue their protest there, chanting anti-government slogans.See also:
Scores of riot police in helmets and bulletproof vests arrived on site and blocked the traffic on the street.
They used loud speakers to persuade the protesters to disperse. Those who refused the appeal were arrested en masse. At least 136 were detained "for various violations," according to the Interior Ministry. Conflicting unofficial figures claimed nearly twice as many detentions were made.
Calls to go on "peaceful walks" after the Saturday rally appeared on social media in the run up to the event. Police and authorities warned that any unsanctioned marches would be immediately curbed, citing public security concerns.
A member of Sobol's team, addressing protesters from the stage at Sakharov Avenue later on, urged people to go on an unsanctioned march and was detained after finishing his speech.
Moscow has witnessed several unauthorized rallies over the past few weekends, after some opposition figures called on their followers to take to streets and storm the City Council over the disqualified candidates. Scuffles during the protests were met with a strong police response, with over 2,300 arrested. The vast majority of them were fined and set free, but some of the activists, who faced charges of provoking mass unrest and public disturbances, remain in custody.

In a letter to his foundation, Leslie Wexner, the founder and chief executive of L Brands Inc., said the missing cash was discovered after he decided to sever ties with the convicted pedophile in 2007, The Wall Street Journal reported.
"We discovered that he had misappropriated vast sums of money from me and my family," Wexner, 81, wrote in the letter. "This was, frankly, a tremendous shock, even though it clearly pales in comparison to the unthinkable allegations against him now."
Comment: Wexner's letter to the Wexner Foundation Community:
Dear Wexner Foundation Community,Will Wexner's attempts to save his own skin and avoid being dragged down with the
For 35 years, the work we have achieved together in this community has continued to be one of the great honors of my life, and that is why I am writing to you now.
In recent weeks, there has been considerable media attention on my past connection to Jeffrey Epstein. To be clear, I never would have imagined that a person I employed more than a decade ago could have caused so much pain. I condemn his abhorrent behavior in the strongest possible terms and am sickened by the revelations I have read over the past weeks. I sincerely value your trust, and that is why it is important you hear details and context from me directly.
I first met Mr. Epstein in the mid-1980s, through friends who vouched for and recommended him as a knowledgeable financial professional. Mr. Epstein represented that he had various well-known and respected individuals both as his financial clients and in his inner circle. Based on positive reports from several friends, and on my initial dealings with him, I believed I could trust him.
Eventually, he took over managing my personal finances. He was given power of attorney as is common in that context, and he had wide latitude to act on my behalf with respect to my personal finances while I focused on building my company and undertaking philanthropic efforts.
In the early 1990s Mr. Epstein became a trustee of The Wexner Foundation, but he had no executive responsibilities in the running of the Foundation. He did not work directly with Foundation staff, and he did not engage with leadership initiatives in any way.
As the allegations against Mr. Epstein in Florida were emerging, he vehemently denied them. But by early fall 2007, it was agreed that he should step back from the management of our personal finances. In that process, we discovered that he had misappropriated vast sums of money from me and my family. This was, frankly, a tremendous shock, even though it clearly pales in comparison to the unthinkable allegations against him now.
With his credibility and our trust in him destroyed, we immediately severed ties with him. We were able to recover some of the funds. The widely reported payments Mr. Epstein made to the charitable fund represented a portion of the returned monies. All of that money - every dollar of it - was originally Wexner family money.
I am embarrassed that, like so many others, I was deceived by Mr. Epstein. I know now that my trust in him was grossly misplaced and I deeply regret having ever crossed his path.
As the story has unfolded further, and the extent of the pain caused by Mr. Epstein continues to grow, I have spent time reflecting and searching for answers as to how this could have happened. My heart goes out to each person who has suffered unthinkable pain and I pray for their healing.
Well Wexner, an organised network of likeminded individuals would certiainly facilitate such heinous crimes to occur. The group would probably have similar predilections for chidlren and/ or a thirst for power over others, prone to using tactics such as "sextortion".
I want to convey my gratitude to the many who have written to express your trust. Abigail and I deeply appreciate your well wishes.
As I reflect on the situation, I know that we will together seek the wisdom that can be gleaned even from such troubling events. And, my friends, I want you to know that I remain fully committed to supporting your amazing and enduring leadership across the globe. Keep leading.

Originally scheduled for release at the end of September, 'The Hunt' depicted a hellish world in which rich liberals capture and hunt ordinary, decent, Donald Trump-voting "deplorables" for fun. In the movie, a band of captives arm themselves and take the fight back to their blue-state tormentors.
However, Universal ran into trouble when three mass shootings in Texas, Ohio, and California left 36 dead in the space of a week, days after the release of the movie's trigger-happy trailer. After pulling some TV and internet ads, the studio finally scrapped the release of 'The Hunt' entirely on Saturday, stating "now is not the right time to release this film."
"A guy who had information that would have destroyed rich and powerful men's lives ends up dead in his jail cell," Scarborough, who was once a US Congressman for Florida, tweeted on Saturday. "How predictably...Russian."
Epstein had been languishing in prison since his arrest last month on child sex trafficking and conspiracy charges, and was found dead in his cell on Saturday morning, having apparently hung himself. Court documents unsealed on Friday revealed that one of his alleged victims accused him of trafficking her to a network of global politicians, businessmen and power brokers.
Comment: There are numerous high-profile Western elites who wanted Epstein gone; the Russians were probably sitting back with their popcorn enjoying the show.

Rabbi Eliezer Kashtiel, the head of Bnei David, a military religious college in the settlement of Eli in the occupied West Bank, was lecturing about "slavery and the position of workers according to Judaism", and offered a justification of Jewish supremacy and the enslavement of Palestinians under occupation:
"Yes, we are racists, of course we are. There are races in the world and nations that have genetic attributes, and that demands that we [the Jewish people] will think of how to help them. The fact that someone is your inferior is not a reason to deride him or eliminate him, but help him. Yes, there are differences between races and that's precisely the reason who should offer aid. Just as we know there are genetic defects within society, for instance when a child is, alas, born with a defect. Is that a reason to deride him? To taunt him, insult him? No. It calls for helping him.
Comment: How magnanimous. Glad to know you see all Goyim as birth defects, good Rabbi. And it's good that you have such compassion for their plight. It truly shows how superior you truly are.
"When I see that I reach much more impressive heights than he does, in the moral, intellectual, personal fields, I reach much greater achievements - then it is my duty to aid him. Not leave him poor and helpless, but to lend him my hand and say 'come', come be my slave, be a partner in my success. [...] Do you know how it is today? A prosperous country sees a backwards country, and it turns it into its garbage heap. This is how it is today. There are countries in Africa, backward countries, and what do the superpowers do? They make it worse for them.
