Dance, monkey, dance! Nearly half a million Brits in France scramble to get home as UK announces quarantine restrictions

train covid

Boris Johnson's UK government is adding France to its quarantine list as its number of coronavirus continues to rise sharply.
Hundreds of thousands of British tourists face a scramble to return from France after Boris Johnson's UK government announced that holidaymakers returning from there would have to quarantine for 14 days as of this weekend.

The UK on Thursday said France, along with five other countries including the Netherlands and Malta, would be removed from the "green list" of countries which are exempt from quarantine restrictions as the country recorded a sharp uptick in coronavirus infections.

"Data shows we need to remove France, the Netherlands, Monaco, Malta, Turks & Caicos & Aruba from our list of #coronavirus Travel Corridors to keep infection rates DOWN," the UK's Transport Minister Grant Shapps said on Twitter.

New study confirms just how rigged higher ed is against the Right

library aisle person
A U.K. report finds that academia is severely damaged, has become a revolutionary institution within narrow and stifling ideological echo-chamber, and cannot be easily fixed with a simple "self-correction" pushed by market forces. Given how much the game is already rigged, legislation and other external interventions are needed to balance the scale.

The policy paper from Policy Exchange, a London-based think-tank, highlights the major trends in British higher-ed and has implications for similar problems in the United States. The report indicates that, compared to the 1960s when the British higher-ed system was divided between around 35 percent supporting Conservative causes and around 50 percent supporting the Labour Party, academia currently is almost wholly skewed to the left.

Chauvin, Lane, Kueng, and Thao: The fall guys for George Floyd's death

It is said that, in every large organization, the fecal matter flows downhill. Anyone who has ever worked in government can attest to the truth of that statement. But, for dramatic proof of that proposition, take a look at this picture.

Below is an illustration from the Minneapolis Police Department's official training materials on how to safely and properly subdue a suspect suffering from "excited delirium," a potentially lethal medical condition which, due to the rising use and abuse of illicit drugs, has grown to epidemic proportions on the streets of America.

Look closely. The depicted suspect is flat on the ground with his head turned to the side in what the illustration calls "the recovery position to alleviate positional asphyxia." The officer on the left is kneeling on the side of the suspect's neck.

John MacArthur's church sues California after being threatened with fines and jail for indoor worship services

A prominent evangelical church in Los Angeles is suing state and county officials in California after being threatened with fines and jail time for gathering together for indoor worship.

Grace Community Church, which is pastored by John MacArthur, made headlines last month when they resumed in-person assembly in defiance of Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom's renewed lockdown order. MacArthur and the church retained the legal counsel of the Thomas More Society last week after receiving a cease and desist letter from Los Angeles County threatening $1,000 daily fines and imprisonment.

In the complaint made public Thursday, lawyers for the church argue that state and county officials are violating six parts of the California State Constitution with their indefinite lockdown orders against houses of worship. They also contrast the treatment of churches with that of the protesters whose demonstrations roiled the state in the wake of George Floyd's death.

Hunter Biden settled a $450,000 tax debt within six days last month, despite recently claiming he was too broke to pay child support, according to a new report, raising further questions about his financial dealings.

The son of Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden was slapped with the hefty lien on July 9 by the District of Columbia for unpaid state income taxes, and despite having no clear job, was able to "resolve" the bill in the space of a week, the Washington Free Beacon reported Monday.

A spokesman for the Office of the Chief Financial Officer in DC confirmed that the younger Biden, 50, was released on July 15 after the "tax issue was resolved."

It's unclear how the potential first son was able to pay off the nearly half-million-dollar debt so quickly, but the report raises further questions about the family's murky financial dealings.

A mad rush for the exits as NYC goes down the tubes

It's not just a few Upper West Siders who are fleeing New York: Moving companies say they're swamped with calls from residents looking to ditch the city — even though the COVID crisis has waned.

One likely reason: The virus was but the last straw; New Yorkers are fed up with the shootings and lootings, homelessness on the streets, sub-par online schools, sky-high taxes and the sheer obliviousness of pols like Mayor Bill de Blasio and Gov. Andrew Cuomo.

On Sunday, The Post highlighted families who've given up on the Upper West Side — now teeming with junkies, the homeless, convicts and others — and are headed for greener pastures outside Gotham.

Meanwhile, Fox Business reports that moving companies are seeing a continuing surge in citywide business that began soon after the COVID outbreak. And while many of those fleeing may come from Manhattan, the trend is surely not confined to the Upper West Side.

Fauci slammed Tucker Carlson, saying he 'triggers some of the crazies' to attack him and that it's 'ridiculous' that he needs personal security to protect him

A composite image of Dr. Anthony Fauci at an interview with The Washington Post on August 14, 2020, and Fox News host Tucker Carlson at Politicon 2018 in Los Angeles in October 2018.
Fox News host Tucker Carlson has repeatedly criticized infectious-diseases expert Anthony Fauci's expertise of late.

Dr. Anthony Fauci criticized Tucker Carlson on Friday, saying the Fox News host "triggers some of the crazies in society" to threaten him.

Fauci, the top US infectious-diseases expert on the White House coronavirus task force, made the comment in a wide-ranging interview with The Washington Post's Geoff Edgers on Instagram Live.

When asked whether he had heard of Carlson, Fauci said: "He's the guy that really loves me, right?"

Comment: As much as Fauci loves to play the misunderstood hero, his measures are unscientific, unconstitutional and transparently self-serving. While the death threats may be a bit much, he does not deserve to be taken seriously. In other words, Tucker is right about everything he says about him.

Trudeau government pulls funding for human trafficking victims because of Covid?

Trudeau

Nine agencies across Canada that provide services for trafficked and exploited women and girls have been told there is no more money to support their programs.
Canadian women's organizations working to support women and girls who have been sexually exploited by men say that Justin Trudeau's liberal government will not renew federal funding. Programs will close as a result.

This clearly signals that the prime minister — a self-identifying feminist — considers female victims of male violence and exploitation unworthy of help. He is content to throw these hidden victims to the wolves.

Comment: With all the money being spent during the lockdown, which has seen millions in Canada alone out of work and forced to stay at home, it was inevitable that social programs of all kinds would eventually be cut and that rates of child abuse, sexual abuse, domestic violence, murder, anxiety, depression and suicide rates would all skyrocket as a result. And this might only be the beginning. See also:

Outcry after students' exam results downgraded by algorithm in England

People take part in a demonstration outside the Department of Education over the government's handling of exam results.
Two million GCSE grades recommended by teachers are to be downgraded next week, with disadvantaged pupils even worse hit than those affected by the A-levels debacle, according to analysis from leading researchers.

Thousands of headteachers have called for urgent action to avoid "serious injustices" that could blight the life chances of their pupils, after exams were cancelled because of coronavirus and the results consequently being decided by an algorithm that has been condemned as unfair.

Experts at the FFT Education Datalab research unit told the Guardian they expected the proportion of grades assessed by teachers likely to be forced down by Ofqual's statistical mechanism to be 35-40%. As revealed by the Guardian last week, 39% of teacher-assessed A-levels were downgraded on Thursday.

Paul Craig Roberts: Flight from New York

New York City
New York City is in serious trouble. Indeed, all diverse US cities are in trouble, especially those ruled by Democrats. The combination of coronavirus and unchecked rioting and looting have undermined their economies.

Working at home has taught businesses that they do not need to accumulate employees in office complexes. Working at home saves money for businesses and employees. With profits and raises harder to come by, dispensing with office complexes and commutes is cost effective.

High income people who no longer need to work in office complexes do not need expensive Manhattan brownstones and apartments. They can escape to Mystic Connecticut — or somewhere else.
