Hacker team Fancy Bears has released IOC correspondence appearing to indicate Canadian lawyer Richard McLaren was given a 'clear political order' to file a report that resulted in Russia's expulsion from Olympic competition.

A WADA-commissioned report into allegations of state-sponsored doping in Russia authored by McLaren led to a blanket ban on Russia's track and field team from the Rio 2016 Olympic Games and also Russia's complete exclusion from the PyeongChang 2018 Winter Games next month.

"The Fancy Bears' Hack Team obtained the International Olympic Committee officials' correspondence. These emails and documents point to the fact that the Europeans and the Anglo-Saxons are fighting for power and cash in the sports world," the leak, published Wednesday, begins.

Forest ranger kills unarmed man traveling to a spiritual retreat; FBI investigating

Miller family
Community members are horrified and searching for answers after a beloved citizen of Hutchinson, Kansas, was shot and killed by a federal officer while traveling to a spiritual retreat.

Tyler Miller, 51, was driving on a curvy, mountain road in the Coconino National Forest in Arizona when he lost control of his pickup truck and hit a large rock, according to a report from KWCH News. However, the details regarding what happened between the time Miller crashed and the time a federal officer opened fire on him, are still largely unknown.

Attorney Matt Bretz confirmed that the Miller family is still awaiting more information from the FBI, which is currently investigating the shooting:
"He was on his way to a spiritual retreat north of Sedona. The road is a bit curvy. He lost control of the vehicle, went off the road and hit a large rock, and then it becomes rather vague as to what happened, and the FBI hasn't been able to tell us or hasn't told us yet. At some point after the collision, Mr. Miller exited his vehicle, and was shot by a forest ranger."

A US-based news producer, which provides content for Russian news agency Sputnik, is being forced to register as a foreign agent, as the US apparently continues to single-out Russian news outlets as a threat to America.

The company, called RIA Global LLC, has been notified that it must register under the Foreign Agents Registration Act (FARA) or face repercussions, Sputnik reported Wednesday. RIA Global, which is staffed by American journalists, was targeted by the Department of Justice (DOJ) because it makes content for Sputnik.

Roseanne on why half her TV family will support Trump: "It's just realistic, working class Americans elected him"

roseanne show
Roseanne Barr says that when "Roseanne" returns to ABC, half her TV family, the Connors, will support President Trump - because it's realistic that they would.

She said her character, Roseanne, and her husband, Dan (John Goodman) will support Trump because she's always wanted the sitcom to be "a true reflection on the society we live in."

"So I feel like half the people voted for Trump and half didn't, so it's just realistic," she said at a Television Critics Association panel on Monday.

"I've always attempted to portray a realistic portrait of the American people and the working class people. And, in fact, it was working class people who elected Trump," Barr continued. "So I felt like, yeah, that was very real, and something that needed to be discussed."

A convicted sex offender has escaped jail despite being caught by 'pedophile hunters' intending to meet who he thought was a 13-year-old girl for a "cuddle." The judge labelled the disabled man a "victim."

Mark Presley, 49, intended to meet the teen at Blackpool pier when he was confronted by anti-pedophile vigilantes 'The Innocence Keepers' in October, last year. The groups had been posing as the 13-year-old "Samantha" on Facebook and had asked Presley to carry a stick of rock so he could be identified on the pier.

The group had also pretended to be a number of other underage children on social media who which Presley was also interacting with, including another fake 13-year-old girl named "Katie".

Upon being confronted by The Innocence Keepers, Presley "realized he had been stung [and he] he zipped down his jacket to flash his disability card," the group said.

Comment: The Innocence Keepers' methods may bear no weight in a court of law but at least their efforts raised public's awareness of a predator in their midst.

World Bank report: Global economy set for a decade of gloom

The growth of the global economy appears to have peaked, according to a new report from the World Bank. The report shows a lack of investments, a slowdown in productivity and tightening monetary policy.

Although the bank has raised its projection for global growth from 2.7 percent to 3 percent, it warned that the acceleration in growth would be temporary unless governments implemented structural reforms to raise long-term growth potential. This is in spite of the fact that it has revised estimates upwards for both 2018 and 2019.

"Focus should now turn to the structural policies needed to boost longer-term productivity and living standards," said the report.

The World Bank's lead economist Franziska Ohnsorge said: "It would be the slowest decade of potential growth since [the World Bank's dataset began in] the mid-nineties." This could have serious repercussions for investors and for borrowers, she warned.

A Florida university has been accused of stoking racial tensions with a controversial new course. It has already irked people to such an extent that police officers will be stationed outside the classroom.

Florida Gulf Coast University rolled out the new course entitled, "White racism," on Tuesday as part of its Spring semester to "examine the racist ideologies, laws, policies, and practices" that have allowed "white racial domination over those racialized as non-white."

Course director Ted Thornhill, an assistant professor of sociology, said he's received a raft of emails challenging the academic integrity of such a course, as well as more abusive messages including racial slurs and those branding him a racist. "Cancer (Stage 4) is what you and your family deserve for spreading hate, lies & intolerance," one detractor wrote, as cited by News Press.

“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski’s friends didn’t want to admit they were American during a recent trip abroad.
"Morning Joe" co-host Mika Brzezinski said her jet-setting friends are embarrassed to be Americans while discussing if there was any reason for optimism in the Trump era on Monday.

"I had some friends that went to Paris over the holiday... and they said they were just viscerally embarrassed to be American," Brzezinski said.

The MSNBC star's co-host and fiancé, Joe Scarborough, perhaps realizing she wasn't speaking to the average American, tried to intervene with a joke, asking, and "Paris, Texas right?"

Palestinian-American gets last minute deportation reprieve thanks to help from community and local congressman

Palestinian American man Amer Othman Adi hug
After two decades fighting to remain in the United States, Amer Othman Adi spent the first days of 2018 saying goodbye to his friends and neighbors in his adopted hometown of Youngstown, Ohio.

That is until his lawyer and supporters - including a Congressman - secured a final-hour stay of deportation yesterday, just a few days before Adi's forced deportation to Jordan scheduled for Sunday.

Adi, a Palestinian-American businessman and community activist, has owned and run a number of businesses in the city for years, including the popular Downtown Circle Hookah Bar.

"I have been fighting this deportation for almost 23 years; I thought we had it solved," Adi told a small group of teary-eyed friends and neighbors gathered at the hookah bar on Tuesday. "But when Donald Trump was elected I knew I was in trouble."

Comment: It is not by targeting individuals who are well adapted and contribute to their communities that the problems that come with immigration are going to be solved.
