Out of a total of 55,890 asylum seekers claiming to be under the age of 18 and being treated as such by German authorities, 24,116 were officially of adult age, Die Welt newspaper reported, citing the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs. The media outlet claimed the data was valid as of November 8.
In some German cities, the proportion of false "underage"migrants appears to be even higher. In 2016 in Hamburg, for example, 47 percent of 1,813 migrants claiming to be minors turned out to be legally of adult age, according to official statistics. The same pattern persisted this year, as 49 percent of newly arrived 485 "unaccompanied minors" were actually adults.
Daily Mirror reporter Alan Selby found that workers at the Amazon plant in Tilbury, Essex, were so tired that they "fell asleep on their feet" while working a 55-hour week.
Selby spent five weeks as an undercover worker at the warehouse, which is said to be as big as 11 football fields, and where employees have to walk up to one third of a mile in order to reach the toilets.
The Internal Revenue Service won't process individual tax returns in 2018 unless taxpayers indicate whether they have health insurance coverage or an exemption. So what this means is that you will not get your refund until you tell the IRS if you have health insurance.
The move, announced last month, reverses course from this year, when the IRS said it would not require filers to indicate on 1040 tax forms whether they had health insurance. Filers were still required to have medical insurance or pay a penalty, but the IRS accepted and processed returns even if taxpayers didn't indicate coverage status.
And if you don't have health insurance and you don't qualify for an exemption, you could be hit with a very painful financial penalty.
Of course purchasing health insurance in some parts of the country is enough of a penalty as it is. For example, I recently wrote about a family of four in Virginia that is now facing the prospect of paying $3,000 a month for health insurance.
Talk about being between a rock and a hard place.
Malca Goldstein-Wolf, a Jewish resident of Cologne, wrote to WDR, the regional subsidiary of national broadcaster ARD, critiquing Waters' support of the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) campaign, which aims to isolate Israel through economic and political means over its treatment of Palestinians.
"Will WDR actually support the new 'Do not buy from Jews'? [a Nazi-era slogan] And use state money to do so?" wrote Goldstein-Wolf, who also started an online petition that gathered 1,500 votes.
Comment: What a retarded and manipulative way of putting it. BDS targets specifically Israel due to its apartheid practices. It has nothing to do with "Jews". Does she realize that thousands of Jews around the world do not approve of what Israel does in their name?
In a statement posted to his Facebook page, Raul Bocanegra said he has decided to resign "effective immediately" instead of waiting until September of 2018, as he had originally announced.
"Upon further reflection during the recent holiday weekend, and conversations with family, friends, supporters, I have decided to resign earlier from the State Assembly effective immediately, which was my original intention," Bocanegra said in the statement.
Bocanegra cited "persistent rumors" of sexual misconduct in a statement last week to the Los Angeles Times in which he initially announced his plans to resign.
The Times earlier this month said it had contacted Bocanegra's office in reporting a story about six women who claimed they had been sexually harassed by the state lawmaker.

The "ChurchToo" Hashtag has been used to call out sexual predators disguised as trustworthy religious leaders who have been protected by the church system.
As Twitter user Elizabeth Halford noted, after the hashtag "MeToo" went viral, several of the nearly 2 million users from around 85 countries who shared their stories, were sharing account of sexual abuse that occurred at the hands of religious leaders.
"Following the #ChurchToo hash with interest. Many #MeToo stories at the hands of the church," Halford wrote. "And me? I was made to sign a purity contract at age 11. And witnessed a man confess from the pulpit having sex w/a child. Praised for his bravery. No further action."
Comment: Given the sheer number of people who have been abused by Church leaders over the years, we could be looking at a total sh*tstorm if this hashtag really ramps up. How easy will it be for the Catholic church, or any other church for that matter, to ignore this? See also:

African migrants are seen aboard a rescue ship as they arrive at a naval base in Tripoli on November 25, 2017, after their rubber boat was rescued off the coast of Garabulli
- At least 31 migrants died and 200 were rescued by the Libyan coastguard
- When the Libyan navy arrived, they spotted 'four or five' large blue sharks
- Some of the bodies had been bitten when they brought the bodies on board
Some 18 women and three children were among the dead, while 40 people were still missing.
When Libyan coastguard boats arrived at the scene, they spotted large blue sharks swimming around the boat, according to Italian media.
'When we arrived in the area, off the town of Garabulli, [one] dinghy was semi-submerged and still had 44 people clinging on to it, whom we saved,' Libyan patrol boat commander Nasser al-Ghammoudi told Italian newspaper Il Giorno.

Proponents of net neutrality protest against Federal Communication Commission Chair Ajit Pai outside the American Enterprise Institute before his arrival May 5, 2017 in Washington.
But more interestingly, in some of the most right-wing and Trump-supporting corners of the internet, there is a rebellion brewing.
Take, for instance, Breitbart News. The popular right-wing website has been a loyal ally to President Donald Trump, perhaps more devoted to his cause than any other.
Comment: As a commenter asked in the above article, "How does anyone think this is a good idea?" It is crystal clear that only the ISPs and mainstream narrative controllers will benefit from this. Forcing people to pay more for less options and giving away the freedom to control what you can see online is clearly not in the best interest of anyone who uses the internet (ie. everyone). When they return to the bench after the holiday, the justices will weigh whether the history of cell phone locations stored by a phone service provider is searchable without a warrant.
The case, Carpenter v. U.S., centers on Timothy Carpenter, who argues the government violated his Fourth Amendment protection against unreasonable search and seizure when it obtained his cell phone location records from MetroPCS and Sprint without a warrant. Authorities then used that data as trial evidence to convict him of a string of robberies at Radio Shack and T-Mobile stores in Michigan and Ohio from December 2010 to March 2011.
The government argues that it was well within its rights under the Stored Communications Act (SCA) of 1986 to get a court order for the records. The law allows this type of data to be searched if the government can show reasonable grounds to believe it will be relevant to a criminal investigation.
To obtain a warrant, law enforcement officers, however, must show there is probable cause.
This is software to save lives? Facebook's new "proactive detection" artificial intelligence technology will scan all posts for patterns of suicidal thoughts, and when necessary send mental health resources to the user at risk or their friends, or contact local first-responders. By using AI to flag worrisome posts to human moderators instead of waiting for user reports, Facebook can decrease how long it takes to send help.
Facebook previously tested using AI to detect troubling posts and more prominently surface suicide reporting options to friends in the U.S. Now Facebook is will scour all types of content around the world with this AI, except in the European Union, where General Data Protection Regulation privacy laws on profiling users based on sensitive information complicate the use of this tech.
Comment: Considering how much information is sold to third party organizations, this AI could be easily used for the push for full censorship.
