Police have arrested five suspects in the Halloween shooting at a California Airbnb that left five partygoers dead.

The arrests came during a coordinated police operation in four Northern California cities, reported San Francisco ABC station KGO.

Five partygoers were killed on Halloween night at a house in the affluent town of Orinda, just east of Berkeley, that had been rented through Airbnb. The owner of the home told the San Francisco Chronicle that he had rented out the house to a woman who told him she was planning to have a family reunion for about a dozen people.

Instead, authorities said that upwards of 100 partygoers fled the house in panic after shots rang out. One witness told the Chronicle that most of the party's attendees were college students.

Nanny state comes to Texas: Teacher says parents "don't know what's best"

The government knows what's in your child's best interest better than you do — at least, according to a teacher at Willis Independent School District.

Anthony Lane, an English teacher at Willis High School who has vocally defended the school's decision to bring in an adult male entertainer who performs at strip clubs to spend a day with the children, lashed out on Facebook at parents who have complained:

"I believe that raising a child is the responsibility of the community and that parents should not have the final say," said Lane. "Let's be honest, some of you don't know what is best for your kids."

Comment: What??

Comment: Heavens! The parents of school children have the temerity to be upset that a stripper drag queen was invited to be a guest in their childrens' classroom. How unwoke!

'There's no such thing as boy and girl things': Drag queens indoctrinate children in public schools

Good for the parents to raise the alarm. There is no earthly reason for such a person to be invited a school. Parents are equally upset at the beknighted institution called 'drag queen story hour' some libraries seem to think is a good idea.

The French government has rebuked the army general charged with the rebuilding of the fire-ravaged Notre Dame Cathedral after he told the chief architect to "shut his mouth", in a sign of tensions over the cathedral's future appearance.

Gen Jean-Louis Georgelin lost his cool with Philippe Villeneuve in a dispute over whether to replace the spire, which collapsed in the fire in April, with an exact replica or a modern alternative.

"As for the chief architect, I have already explained that he should shut his mouth," Georgelin said to gasps of astonishment at a meeting of the national assembly's cultural affairs committee on Wednesday.

Brett Easter made a crash landing with his ultralight plane into Lake Morton in Washington.
A bright yellow ultralight plane made an incredible crash water landing and two nearby kayakers were in the right place at the right time to save the pilot's day.

Brett Easter took off from Norman Grier Field in Kent, Washington, on Monday unaware that he would have to make a quick maneuver to save his life.

The propellers stopped moving shortly after takeoff and Easter told ABC News affiliate KOMO that he looked for a clear place to land setting his sights on Lake Morton.

"At that point, you don't know where the airplane is going," he said. "I mean there are houses over here and no one deserves to pay for my engine failure."

'No farm, no food, no future!': Farmers clog traffic in Hamburg with 4,000 tractors, reject 'scapegoating' by govt

German farmers have flooded a city's streets with thousands of tractors, in protest against new environment regulations; they are accusing the government of bullying them as it conducts its fight for a 'green' economy.

Around 4,000 tractors arrived in the northern city of Hamburg on Thursday, where a meeting of regional environment ministers was being held. The kilometer-long convoys, stretching across the city's busy streets, caused "considerable traffic disruption" downtown, police said. The protesters also held a rally at the city's Gaensemarkt square.

Placards displayed on the tractors included slogans such as 'Cooperation instead of bans' and 'No farm, no food, no future.' Another popular protest motto - 'Just say 'Thank you' - was also heavily present. It conveys many farmers' desire for the government to appreciate what those in agriculture do for the economy, instead of engaging in what they see as bullying and scapegoating in the name of pursuing green goals.

The Environment Ministry has recently proposed a set of regulations what would limit the use of certain types of weed killers and fertilizers - in order to protect birds, insects and groundwater. The farmers fear this will tank their businesses and endanger their very livelihood.

The son of Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.) says he was "assaulted" with spray paint Monday night.
The son of a North Carolina congressman claims he was assaulted Monday by members of a leftist organization on campus while promoting a Charlie Kirk event scheduled to take place on Wednesday.

Jack Bishop, son of Rep. Dan Bishop (R-N.C.), told Campus Reform Tuesday that he was spray-painted in the face and eye during an incident in North Carolina State University's "Free Expression Tunnel," which is used as a space for organizations to express "their thoughts and feelings about anything--from 'Happy Birthday' to announcing club and organization meetings," according to the university website.

"I would really hope that [she] would think before harassing a conservative group in a coordinated effort like this"

'What's a girl seeking, alone at night?' German mayor's 'victim-blaming' blasted as immigrants accused of gang-raping teenager

Migrants wait in line to register in Berlin, Germany, October 12, 2015.
The mayor of a German city was forced to apologize for his comments about a shocking gang rape case, which has drawn a new wave of criticism toward the country's lax immigration laws.

The crime occurred in the city of Ulm in the southwestern Baden-Wurttemberg state on Halloween but police only reported it this week. The 14-year-old victim was walking late and met with a group of teenage boys and men in their early 20s, one of whom she knew. She agreed to go to the home of one of the suspects and was gang-raped there.

Three suspects were subsequently arrested, while two more remain at large. At least two of them were confirmed by police to be asylum-seekers but their nationality or country of origin was not revealed.

Mayor Gunter Czisch was "shocked" by the crime, telling Sudwest Presse that "Ulm is a safe city but there is no such thing as absolute security." The official then quickly made something of a detour, to ostensibly chastise the girl's parents.

Michael Avenatti, aka 'creepy porn lawyer', charged with extortion and wire fraud in Nike case

Michael Avenatti
On Wednesday, a grand jury charged disgraced pornstar lawyer Michael Avenatti with extortion and wire fraud. The revised indictment dropped a conspiracy charge against Avennati but added an additional count of wire fraud.

According to the indictment, Avenatti threatened to hold a damaging press conference on the eve of Nike's quarterly earnings report and the start of the NCAA's men's college basketball tournament unless Nike agreed to pay Avenatti around $25 million in payments. Avenatti said he was representing a youth basketball coach who had evidence that Nike employees had concealed unauthorized payments to families of top high school basketball players. The U.S. Attorney's Office had recently opened a criminal investigation into a competitor of Nike's for similarly concealing payments to families of high school athletes.

Comment: Gateway Pundit adds some details:
As previously reported, Avenatti was arrested in New York on federal extortion charges, Nicolas Biase, with the United States Attorney's Office, Southern District of New York announced in March of this year.

Avenatti was arrested on charges related to a $20 million extortion scheme of Nike, according to federal authorities.

A criminal complaint against Avenatti says he
"devised a scheme to extort a company by means of an interstate communication by threatening to damage the company's reputation if the company did not agree to make multi-million dollar payments to Avenatti and [co-conspirator], and further agree to pay an additional $1.5 million to a client of Avenatti's."
Federal prosecutors in Los Angeles announced separate charges of wire fraud and bank fraud against Avenatti in March of this year as well.

According to reports, Avenatti faces 50+ years in prison if convicted on charges of wire fraud and extortion in just one of the cases against him.
What a resume Mr. Avenatti has achieved. And to think the man was delusional enough to annouce a presidential bid.

Hypocrisy much? Media glorifies 'medieval ingenuity' of Hong Kong protesters, while branding French Yellow Vests as 'rioters'

hong kong anarchy

Universities across Hong Kong are shuttering their doors and foreign students fleeing the chaos, as protesters hurl bricks, fire javelins, construct “watchtowers” and start fires on campuses.
As anti-China protesters transform Hong Kong universities into "weapons factories" and arm themselves with petrol bombs, mainstream media is increasingly impressed by their ingenious and "novel" methods of taking on riot police.

Universities across Hong Kong are shuttering their doors and foreign students fleeing the chaos, as protesters hurl bricks, fire javelins, construct "watchtowers" and start fires on campuses, insisting that they have "no choice" but to resort to the most violent methods.

Comment: RT adds that the barbarity exhibited by the protesters has inspired their supporters in London. A gang attacked Hong Kong's justice secretary Teresa Cheng Yeuk-wah while she was in London to promote a Chinese business hub as a venue for conflict resolution. Cheng suffered "serious bodily harm" in the altercation and the UK Chinese Embassy said the incident showed that the "violent and lawless perpetrators" behind the protests were now affecting other nations. Footage of the incident recorded on Twitter:

Chinese blockchain firm OneConnect has filed for an initial public offering (IPO) in the United States, seeking to raise $100 million. The company deals with financial technology, including artificial intelligence.

RT's Boom Bust is joined by Jeffrey Tucker from the American Institute for Economic Research, who says the news is "very exciting."

"We're living at a time when blockchain technology is going mainstream, and with that come good things and bad things," says Tucker.

According to him, blockchain technology is "awesome" as it provides "50,000 transactions per second with 'permissionless,' effortless results."
