A French anti-globalist group has covered the walls of the country's most prominent banks with black soap, lightning orange smoke bombs, and green slime to decry the "toxic" finance industry.

Hundreds of activists from Attac France staged a series of protests across the country on Saturday to mark the anniversary of the global financial crisis, which was triggered by the bankruptcy of Wall Street titan Lehman Brothers on September 15, 2008.


Comment: Millions paid the price for the banking cabal's entitlements, schemes and criminal activity. Is anything better today? They deserve much more than soap and smoke!

Report: Saudi-led coalition airstrike on a Yemeni radio station leaves 4 dead

Four people were killed in the Yemeni port city of Al Hodeidah on Sunday as a result of the Saudi-led coalition's airstrike on a local radio station, Houthi-run Al Masirah TV channel reported.

According to the Al Masirah TV, the attack on the radio station located in the Al-Marawah district claimed the lives of three guards and one of the radio employees.

The Yemeni Media Union has already denounced the strike as a "war crime" and urged international and local organizations to demonstrate solidarity with the station.

The situation in war-torn Yemen has deteriorated sharply since June, when the government forces led by President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi and the Saudi-led coalition, which have been supporting Hadi since 2015, launched an offensive to seize Al Hodeidah, a key port city for humanitarian aid, from Houthi insurgents.

Asia Argento demands Rose McGowen retract sexual assault claims or face lawsuit

Argento has demanded that her fellow #MeToo fighter retract her statement claiming that the Italian actress admitted to having sex with Jimmy Bennett to McGowan and McGowan's partner.

In a tweet on Monday, Argento said she gives McGowan 24 hours to retract her "horrendous lies" made on August 27 or she will get sued.

"Dear @RoseMcGowan. It is with genuine regret that I am giving you 24 hours to retract and apologise for the horrendous lies made against me... If you fail to address this libel I will have no option other than to take immediate legal action," Argento tweeted.

A major emergency brings out the best in some people, but in others it brings out the absolute worst. Shocking images of "dozens of people" ransacking a Family Dollar store in Wilmington, North Carolina have stunned the nation. This happened in broad daylight, and many of the looters didn't even seem to care that a television news crew was filming them. Sadly, this always seems to happen whenever a major disaster takes place. Our established social order is so vulnerable, and so many people out there will gladly take advantage of others if they believe that there is an opportunity to get away with it. If this is how people will behave during a storm, how will they act once things start getting really bad in this country?

At this hour, Florence continues to dump massive amounts of rain on the Mid-Atlantic region, and now the death toll is up to 18. It is being reported that more than 640,000 people are without power, and the National Hurricane Center says that more "catastrophic flooding" is coming as Florence remains stationary over the Carolinas.

Major roads all over North Carolina and South Carolina have been flooded, and some parts of Interstate 95 have had to be shut down.

The flooding is already so bad that the city of Wilmington has been completely cut off from the rest of North Carolina, and that is where the Family Dollar store was looted. One reporter was able to capture raw footage of the looting in progress, and you can see that video on YouTube right here.

Comment: As with any situation, the specific context and circumstances are essential in determining whether or not doing something ostensibly wrong may, in fact, be justifiable.

Snowflakes take aim at Swedish professor - claim "anti-feminism" and "transphobia" for saying men and women 'biologically different'

A Swedish university is investigating a professor for "anti-feminism" and "transphobia" after he said there are biological differences between men and women. He is being urged to retract his comments.

The professor, Germund Hesslow, who works in neurophysiology at Lund University, was accused by a student of making "transphobic" and "anti-feminist" statements in a lecture - but he has refused to back down.

During his course on 'Heritage and Environment' at the leading academic institution, Hesslow cited empirical research which supports the idea that there are differences between men and women which are "biologically founded" and therefore genders cannot be regarded as "social constructs alone".

The complainant suggested that Hesslow's comments were at odds with the Swedish "value base" - a concept which requires all schools in Sweden to adhere to a common ethical policy, which includes upholding values like egalitarianism, individual freedom and equality of the sexes.

After weeks of wild online speculation about aliens, extra-dimensional portals, and FBI cover-ups, the Sunspot Solar Observatory will finally reopen on Monday, but netizens are dissatisfied with the official explanation.

"AURA has been cooperating with an ongoing law enforcement investigation of criminal activity that occurred at Sacramento Peak," the Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy (AURA) wrote in an online statement on Sunday.

"During this time, we became concerned that a suspect in the investigation potentially posed a threat to the safety of local staff and residents. For this reason, AURA temporarily vacated the facility and ceased science activities at this location." It should be noted that AURA declined to mention whether the suspect was of extraterrestrial origin.

Given the observatory's remote location in the mountainous Lincoln National Forest in New Mexico, this explanation may have been at least somewhat plausible, were it not for the bizarre way in which the FBI handled the September 6 evacuation of the observatory and nearby residents.

Even the local Sheriff, who was kept in the dark about the investigation throughout, was skeptical.

A Russian MP, known for his staunch pro-Christian views, has proposed a nationwide ban on alcohol sales and the launch of radical reforms of the industry in order to reduce the consumption of alcohol.

In his letter to Minister of Health Veronika Skvortsova, MP Vitaly Milonov (United Russia) said that Russia's future was going to "drown in tons of poisonous brew" unless the government takes urgent and radical measures to reduce alcohol consumption.

Milonov went on to propose steps in this direction, such as reconsidering the mechanisms of alcohol advertising and retail, boosting anti-counterfeit measures in the industry and developing a nationwide program of temperance propaganda. The lawmaker also wants severe and remorseless measures against the so called "vodka kings" who profit as ordinary Russians lose their health, but did not give any examples of such steps.

To support his statement Milonov quoted official data, according to which the current per capita consumption of alcohol in Russia is at about 18 liters per year. This is higher than both the Soviet-era statistics and the figures dating back to imperial times.

Exploding laptop on Madrid Metro sends passengers into a panic

One passenger claims that they were trapped inside the train car for 30 minutes.
At least six have been injured following an explosion in the Madrid Metro after a girl's laptop exploded in her bag. According to local media, the blast sparked scenes of panic as passengers thought the explosion was a bomb.

Ambulances and police were called to the subway station to treat and evacuate passengers following the explosion at about 9am on Monday. Reports on the ground indicate that passengers activated the emergency brake and left the train on foot, walking along the subway tracks to Principe de Vergara station.

One eyewitness said that the train "stopped" and that "people [have been] treated [for] panic attacks." Another witness has posted a video of the evacuation to social media, slamming Madrid de Metro for keeping passengers locked in the train car for '30 minutes.'

Postal worker confesses to stealing over 6,000 pieces of mail containing cash, checks and gift cards

A mother-of-four who worked for the US postal service has admitted stealing more than 6,000 gift and greeting cards containing cash and checks in Wisconsin. She said she needed money to pay bills and take care of her children.

The residents of Wauwatosa in Milwaukee County, Wisconsin started complaining about not receiving their graduation, wedding, birthday and sympathy cards as early as last summer. The US Postal Inspection Service soon found out that the affected ZIP codes were assigned to one mail carrier, Ebony Lavonne Smith, 20. However, they failed to catch the thief for around six months.

In January, the inspectors finally decided to go to great lengths to track down the thief and prepared a special letter containing a test greeting card and a $20 bill for delivery in the Wauwatosa area. The envelope was fitted with a transmitter, which would send a signal if the letter was opened.

Comment: Lots of young mothers struggle to make ends meet. They don't steal other people's stuff in order to do so.
