Action star Steven Seagal dismissed alleged collusion between Donald Trump's presidential campaign and Russia as fiction, warning that "certain groups" will do or say anything to push through their political agendas.

"There is a tremendous amount of propaganda against Russia, and in my opinion, most of the things that are being said is fabricated and untrue," Seagal told Fox News host Tucker Carlson on Tuesday. He added that allegations that US President Donald Trump colluded with the Russian government to win the presidency was "all a fantasy."

The actor, who holds US and Russian citizenship, said that the Russiagate narrative "has more to do with the great divide between Republicans and Democrats."

About a half of Ukrainian and Russian people want their countries to remain independent but friendly, with open borders and mutual visa-free regimes for citizens, according to a joint poll by Russian and Ukrainian think tanks.

In Russia, 45 percent of respondents supported the idea of a friendly alliance with Ukraine without customs of visa barriers, similar to the relations between the nations of the European Union. Still, 16 percent of Russians said they would prefer their country and Ukraine to exist in the form of a single union state.

In Ukraine, 50 percent of respondents told researchers that they would prefer their country and Russia to mutually drop all customs taxes and visa restrictions but remain independent states. The share of supporters of the union state with Russia was 4 percent, down from about 20 percent ten years back.

A BBC-produced video of an "intersectional British-Iraqi, gay, non-binary Muslim" explaining his identity using quantum physics has received a less than sympathetic response on social media.

The BBC prides itself on its inclusiveness, but not even founder Lord Reith could have predicted that one day so many marginalized groups would be contained within a single person.

Woman says her squirrel is her emotional support animal. On a flight from Orlando to Cleveland, she refused to deplane.
Frontier Airlines said a woman had to be escorted off a flight bound for Cleveland Tuesday night due to a squirrel.

Frontier said a passenger boarded Flight 1612 in Orlando, saying the squirrel was an emotional support animal.

The airline said the passenger noted in her reservation that she was bringing an emotional support animal, but it was not indicated the animal was a squirrel.

Frontier said "rodents, including squirrels are not allowed" on its flights.

The anti-immigration Alternative for Germany (AfD) party has come under fire for launching an online portal where children can tell on their teachers for expressing political opinions.

The AfD Hamburg chapter launched a web portal called 'Neutral School' in order "to strengthen a democratic and free discourse at the Hamburg schools," where pupils can make complaints anonymously about staff members and schoolteachers breaching political neutrality.

Mental health disorders are on the rise in every country in the world and could cost the global economy up to $16 trillion between 2010 and 2030 if a collective failure to respond is not addressed, according to an expert report on Tuesday.

The "Lancet Commission" report by 28 global specialists in psychiatry, public health and neuroscience, as well as mental health patients and advocacy groups, said the growing crisis could cause lasting harm to people, communities and economies worldwide.

While some of the costs will be the direct costs of healthcare and medicines or other therapies, most are indirect - in the form of loss of productivity, and spending on social welfare, education and law and order, the report's co-lead author Vikram Patel said.

Comment: The biggest thing to help curb the crisis would be to give people accurate health and dietary information:

Flint, Michigan: Police will spend up to $20K to convert 500 videotapes found in the home of suspected serial rapist

Gilber Conway
Michigan police found nearly 500 videotapes in the home of a rape suspect and now have to modernize them in order to see if he is responsible for assaults going back decades, officials said.

Authorities found the tapes when they arrested Gilbert Conway in July on charges he raped six women between 2009 and 2018, authorities said. He's pleaded not guilty to 77 criminal counts, which include first-degree criminal sexual conduct and kidnapping.

Lawmakers in Genesee County, Michigan, on Monday signed off on spending $15,000 to $20,000 to help investigators convert Conway's Hi8 videotapes into a modern digital format.

Trick-or-treating over age 12 or after 8 pm can lead to fines or jail time in parts of Virginia

Halloween house
Happy Halloween, but not if you are a teen.

In parts of Virginia, anyone 13 or older who goes trick-or-treating can be sent to jail for up to six months according to HRScene.com. And no matter what age, trick-or-treating after 8 p.m. can land you in the clink for up to 30 days. Fines range between $25 and $100.

While Chesapeake, Virginia's code is pretty strict, the city isn't alone.

In many areas, going door to door, ringing or knocking and expecting a treat for those over 12 is a criminal offense.

Newport allows the activity through seventh grade or at 12-year-old person, but after that, anyone engaging in such behavior is guilty of a Class 4 misdemeanor, the same as many communities in the area.

College student spends $12,000 on legal fees after girl 'changes her mind' following romantic evening

kiss
James, a freshman at the University of California-Davis, was on his way to math class when he received an email that would derail his life for the next few months: The university's Title IX office, which handles sexual misconduct disputes between students, was investigating a complaint against him.

This was in February 2018, at a time of heightened public attention to the problem of predatory men taking advantage of vulnerable women. Journalists had exposed Harvey Weinstein, Al Franken, Louis C.K., Kevin Spacey, Roy Moore, and others for committing a variety of sexual misdeeds.

"This was not a good time to get accused of something like this," James tells Reason.

Comment: It is a dangerous time for all society when consensual romantic activity can retroactively become a case of sexual assault. It destroys the foundations of law and order while empowering liars and criminals.
