Devaunte Lewis Hill, 21, was charged with criminal homicide in Caitlyn Kaufman's death, the Metro Nashville Police Department tweeted on Friday. The 26-year-old healthcare worker was shot during her commute to St. Thomas West Hospital on Dec. 3.
According to The Associated Press, a Metro Parks police officer found Kaufman's gray Mazda CX-5 SUV on the right shoulder of Interstate 440 at 8:52 p.m. and stopped, believing it to be a single-car crash site. She died at the scene.

Most importantly, there's no word yet on whether the Biden team and their media allies (ranging from CNN to The New York Times) will continue to argue this investigation is part of a Russian disinformation effort.
But when it came to the network evening newscasts, ABC and CBS couldn't be bothered to each give it even a minute's time or even allude to the efforts by those such as the New York Post and Tucker Carlson to expose his dealings in China.

First, when did Joe Biden first learn that his repeated claims the stories about his son and his brother were Fake News - or in his phrasing, debunked, smears, and the like - were in fact false? When was he briefed on this exactly, and by whom? And why, given that every effort was made to distance Hunter from the campaign, did the defensive announcement come from the Transition instead of just from Hunter himself if Joe, as he has always claimed, has nothing to do with this?
Second, William Barr reportedly worked very hard to keep the Hunter Biden investigation hidden from the public - something that won't help his standing with the conspiracy minded. While I can understand why this was done, will there be some explanation offered as to why this wasn't an unusual act of deference, influenced by the 2016 concerns over James Comey's behavior? Andrew McCarthy offers an explanation here, one which I am not sure will satisfy critics who believe American voters at least deserved to know the rumored investigation was real much earlier in the process.

Lawrence Downey (left) -- accused of killing Ronnie Massaro (right) -- is fed up with NYC's crime wave.
"This could be avoided if you just get the drugs off the street," Lawrence Downey, a career criminal accused of fatally knifing a WWE star's brother, told cops as he was collared for the brazen killing in front of a Midtown pizzeria last month.
Downey, 59, whose rap sheet stretches back to 1995, even pointed out to the arresting officers from the Midtown South Precinct, "It's so bad right now (it's) on your own block."

This has been a personal bugbear of mine since I grew old enough to detect subtext, but long before I could articulate exactly why: The pervasive and destructive idea that there are too many people.
A propaganda construct that seeks to create contempt for masses of ordinary people, whilst excusing hubristic and inhumane practices by institutions and elites.
These destructive belief systems have come to the fore during this "pandemic", made obvious by the fevered gleeful enthusiasm with which so many took up the narrative. One UN representative claimed the coronavirus was Earth "sending us a message".
Conceding that by the summer of 2021, the US should be "way closer to normal than we are now," Gates, who has donated millions to vaccination efforts through his foundation, believes a full return to normal will likely not be possible until after 2022.
The billionaire told CNN on Sunday that "unless we help other countries get rid of this disease" and see "high vaccination rates" within the US, the "risk of reintroduction" will be possible.
"Big public gatherings" should continue to be banned and most bars and restaurants around the country should "sadly" be closed to curb infection rates, according to Gates. A real return to normal, he theorized, is possible only after 12 to 18 months "if we manage it well."
After it was announced that the Biden camp had selected a Raytheon board member as his secretary of defense, I joked in my last article that it would be more honest if Raytheon itself was Biden's Pentagon chief since the US Supreme Court ruled that corporations are people anyway. Raytheon for defense secretary, Boeing for secretary of state, Goldman Sachs for secretary treasurer, ExxonMobile head of the EPA, Amazon for CIA director and Google for director of national intelligence. Waka waka, I'm so silly.
Anyway, since that rant was published NPR has reported that the the next US director of agriculture will be a man named Tom Vilsack, whose corporate cronyism the last time he occupied the same position earned him the nickname (I s**t you not) 'Mr Monsanto'. Which is just too perfect for words, really.
Bloomberg reports: "Some supporters of Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders campaigned against Vilsack when he was under consideration to be Clinton's vice president, branding him 'Mr. Monsanto' and citing his role in brokering a compromise on legislation labeling foods containing genetically modified organisms. Sanders opposed the national legislation, which overrode a stricter Vermont state law."

Comment: This won't mean much to the sleeping masses, who are by now used to being told what to do in their homes, but we'd just like to note for the record: 'told ya so!' Decades ago, we said this is where things would end up if people (smokers and non-smokers alike) accepted the fascist smoking bans in bars and restaurants...
This is how they roll in San Francisco.
Smokers in the Golden Gate City have been banned from smoking tobacco in their apartments, but smoking a marijuana joint inside is perfectly fine, officials announced Tuesday.
The Board of Supervisors approved the new law in 10 to 1 vote, making San Francisco the largest city in the country to adopt the tough measure against tobacco smokers, the San Francisco Chronicle reported.
Lawmakers originally proposed to ban marijuana smoking in buildings, but they reversed their position after cannabis activists protested that it was the only legal place they could smoke.
Tobacco smokers argued the new law violated their rights especially while living in their homes. However, officials greenlighted the bill citing secondhand smoking concerns.
Comment: No, tobacco does NOT kill 'half a million Americans annually.' In fact, there's no evidence tobacco 'kills' anyone.
Doctors do though.
As for govts, no one's keeping count.
Again, while they attempt to literally eradicate tobacco, note their encouragement to smoke cannabis.
Clearly, one is good for you and the other is not.
We leave it to readers to figure out which is which.

San Francisco nixes the cigarette smoking ban in apartments for now:
An ordinance to ban cigarette smoking in San Francisco apartments failed to get a second vote from supervisors Tuesday, meaning the proposal is dead for now.
Supervisors last week approved the measure, saying that non-smoking residents living in cramped apartment buildings should be free from secondhand smoke. The measure carved out an exemption for marijuana, which cannot be smoked in public spaces.
The legislation required two separate votes, and Tuesday's yes vote was considered a given.
But Supervisor Aaron Peskin on Tuesday requested the proposal be sent back to committee, saying that he had heard from long-time, low-income tenants and worried about the ban's impact. The motion passed 6-5.
She was roundly ridiculed for that, of course, but now Seattle hopes to make AOC's fantasy a reality by creating an affirmative defense for theft if you intended to sell the stolen items for "basic needs" like food or rent.
Comment: The Post Millennial weighs in:
When a homeless individual in Seattle decides to set up camp on your front lawn or a drug addict steals from your business, City Council Member Lisa Herbold is looking to make all misdemeanors not just the norm, but legal. And in California, that other bastion of liberal idiocy, is greenlighting prisoner releases 'due to covid':
Herbold now wants to add legal defense to the Seattle municipal code, which would provide an affirmative defense for someone who committed a crime because they needed "...to meet a basic need to survive." Herbold said she wants a jury to hear a defendant's explanations for the crime and for the jurors to decide if the crime was committed to "...supply a basic need."
Additionally, an exception would be added to the new version of the proposal that would allow for the reselling of stolen goods to raise money to pay for a "basic need."
The City Attorney's actions are most likely a major contributing factor of Lindsay's 2019 report entitled System Failure: Report on Prolific Offenders in Seattle's Criminal Justice System which examined 100 prolific offenders who had repeatedly cycled in and out of jail, mostly on misdemeanor charges. The main findings of that report were that all of the non-DUI/DV offenders with the largest number of cases (often 10 or more arrests per year) were suffering from substance use disorders and homelessness and that these individuals had repeatedly committed the same crimes in Seattle's busiest neighborhoods
Seattle Interim Police Chief Adrian Diaz said last month before the council and mayor defunded SPD by another 18 percent that he does not believe the amount of deployable officers Seattle has is safe for the public.
"No. Even when I was pushing out our budget for next year with the city council, I was explaining the need for us to have people that are going through the academy, that are going through our FTO [Field Training Officer] phase, and then being able to deploy them out," he said.
Business owners and residents in Seattle have begun a letter writing campaign to the council, specifically to push back on Herbold's proposal. One business owner wrote:"My personal experience over the last several months since we've moved into and renovated the property has been very frustrating. There is an illegal motorhome encampment near my property, the result of which has been the destruction of private party, illegal camping, theft, dumping of mass amounts of garbage, physical threats and open toilets. I would ask that you consider carefully the unintended consequences of your actions, and recognize our contribution to our cities well being, with the enforcement of laws that allow for a logical and orderly society."A Seattle resident wrote to the council"If CM Herbold's proposed legislation is allowed to pass, I believe that all of the Anarchy that's happening down here will be condoned by the City of Seattle, and the actual number of crimes will skyrocket through the roof. Since the crime won't be prosecuted, your numbers might look good, but the businesses and residents of the community will be suffering greatly. Excusing crime in no way will decrease the actual crime that is happening, it will just excuse it. I watched the City Council meeting this morning and I'm appalled the City is even considering allowing and completely sponsoring Anarchy in our once beautiful city. The City Council is blind about the real problem that's going on down here. Please DO NOT ALLOW crime to become legal!"
"This order will save lives," claimed the ACLU's Cassandra Stubbs in a statement, arguing that across the United States "corrections officials have not taken the necessary steps to protect incarcerated people from the spread of Covid-19, nor have they been honest about the circumstances and risk levels in their facilities."
[Orange County Sheriff Don] Barnes, however, warned that the ruling could result in nearly two thousand criminals - many of whom were convicted of violent crimes - being let back out into the community.
"Many of these inmates are in pre-trial status for, or have been convicted of, violent crimes and will be released back into the community," Barnes declared, warning that the judge's decision "puts our community at substantial risk" and ignores the victims of the crimes committed by the prisoners.
California has over 1.5 million confirmed coronavirus cases and 20,000 deaths. Some 100,000 of these cases and just over 1,600 deaths are from Orange County.
The state has also experienced some of the strictest lockdown rules in the country under Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom, who faced immense backlash last month after it was revealed that he had ignored his own coronavirus advice to attend a party with over twelve people.
