The state minister for integration has warned Germans against the "hatred and malice" of anyone who might draw political conclusions after an Afghan migrant stabbed three people in Ravensburg town centre.

A 21-year-old asylum seeker was taken into custody on Friday following the broad daylight attack in the Baden-Wuerttemberg town, which saw the migrant stab two passers-by at a bus stop before knifing a 52-year-old who tried to stop him with a restaurant chair several times.

Two Syrian asylum seekers aged 19 and 20 and a German were rushed to hospital, with one of the three having suffered life-threatening injuries, according to police.

Prosecutors said the suspect, who was previously reported to be 19-years-old, was suffering from mental illness and has been taken to a psychiatric facility, and revealed that the background of the attack was thought to be a workplace dispute.

Sweden's Supreme Court sends 65-year-old woman to prison for criticizing Islam and migration

woman sentenced Sweden critcising Islam
In 2016, the woman was beaten unconscious and bloody by a gang of so-called “unaccompanied refugee children” herself. The assault affected her memory, among other things. However, no one was convicted of the assault.
In March, the district court acquitted the woman who was prosecuted for hate speech comments made on Facebook. She had criticised Islam and wrote that "the IQ level in Sweden will fall as a result of immigration".

Now, however, she is sentenced to prison by the supreme court. "If this continues, the intelligence in Sweden will be at goldfish level," said one of her Facebook comments. "Refuse all that is to do with Islam" said another.

During the investigation, the woman, whose name is Christina, was subjected to six police interrogations and searches, something she described as a terrible experience.

The police demanded she hand over her keys, mobile phone and iPad. The fact that she needed to get in touch with health care for a doctor's visit was not taken into account whatsoever.

In 2016, the woman was beaten unconscious and bloody by a gang of so-called "unaccompanied refugee children" herself. The assault affected her memory, among other things. However, no one was convicted of the assault.

Comment: The court may be attempting to set an example in an attempt to discourage others from voicing concerns over the government's policies on immigration, but it may fuel the growing public outrage which is boosting popularity of the anti-immigrant Swedish Democrats.

© KompasA damaged air traffic control tower at the Mutiara Sis Al Jufri Airport in Palu, Central Sulawesi on Friday. The tower was about to collapse as a result of a 7.4-magnitude earthquake that rocked the province. The airport also suffered damages to its navigation system as well as 500 meters of its 2,500-m-long runway.
A young Indonesian air traffic controller stayed on duty as the earthquake shook the building, to make sure one last aircraft escaped Friday's deadly disaster. He was fatally injured fleeing afterwards.

Anthonius Gunawan Agung was the last person remaining in the air traffic control tower at Mutiara Sis Al Jufri Airport in Palu when the 7.7 quake hit the city on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi.

While his colleagues ran for their lives as the tower swayed violently from the shocks, Agung, 21, remained steadfast to ensure that Batik Air Flight 6321 got off the ground, as deep fissures and cracks began to appear on the runway.

When the plane took off to safety, further trembling hit the tower. Fearing that he would be trapped beneath the rubble, Agung jumped the four stories off the tower, landing on the ground where he sustained a broken leg and internal injuries.

Security forces have clashed with pro-independence demonstrators in one of the main squares of Barcelona, Sant Jaume. The officers were seen beating the protesters with batons.

Crowds took to the streets on Saturday to stage a counter-protest against a demonstration in support of the Spanish national police (Policia Nacional) and Civil Guard (Guardia Civil) in Barcelona. The latter two were involved in a violent crackdown during last year's independence referendum in Catalonia.

Dramatic pictures from Saturday's rally show officers in riot gear facing off with pro-independence protesters before unleashing batons on them.

Comment: Catalonians aren't ready to give up the fight for independence as evidenced by the massive turnout at the protest in early September marking the 1-year anniversary of the referendum. Meanwhile, the opposition hoping to undermine the bid for independence by supporting 'antidote to populism' former French PM Manual Valls in his bid for mayor of Barcelona.

Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria has shown support for the canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church, which is part of the Moscow Patriarchate. It comes amid a rift between the Russian Orthodox Church and Constantinople Patriarchate.

Theodore II arrived in the southern Ukrainian city of Odessa on Thursday, meeting high church representatives and the Orthodox faithful. The Patriarch of Alexandria is one of the most respected hierarchs of the Orthodoxy, second only to the Ecumenical Patriarch of Constantinople.

"I have come here to tell you: Stay with the Orthodox faith and with the canonical church," Patriarch Theodore II said in his address.

Ahead of the visit to Odessa, he met with the head of the Polish Orthodox Church, Metropolitan Savva, who backed the canonical Ukrainian church as well. The two also called for conflicts stemming from giving autocephality to the Ukrainian church to be avoided.

Comment: Russian Patriarch Kirill recently commented that the "Russian Church is completely free from any political influence", and one wonders, can those in Ukraine honestly say the same?

A Facebook hack which left the accounts of more than 50 million users compromised may have also affected third-party apps such as Tinder, Spotify and Instagram, if people used their Facebook account to register for the services.

The added repercussions of the massive security breach were confirmed by the company later Friday, during a follow-up conference call with reporters. Facebook acknowledged that not only had hackers obtained the ability to access Facebook accounts of affected users, they could also access any other service in which a Facebook account was used for registration.

Thousands of websites and apps including Tinder, Spotify, Airbnb and Instagram allow you to register and sign in using Facebook. This saves users having to create various passwords and usernames for each site.

A group of petty officers assigned to a US submarine base have been charged with engaging in group sex with a girl younger than 16 and filming it. A criminal investigation was launched after an anonymous tip-off.

The incident, reported by the Navy Times on Friday, allegedly took place on September 17, 2017, and had not been made public up until now. According to the charge sheets, obtained by the publication, the four officers engaged in sexual acts with the girl in barracks at the Naval Base Kitsap-Bangor in Washington state. It's unclear how the girl, said to be between 12 and 16 years old, was sneaked into the military base.

The orgy took place "with the door open, and with open recording of the group sex using photography and video equipment," the charge sheets state. The crime was not carried out on the spur of the moment, with investigators saying that the four discussed it in a smoking area before heading for the barracks.

NY nanny sues couple over firing after receiving 'racist' text

A New York nanny is suing a couple for discriminatory firing after receiving a misdirected text from the mother complaining that she was "another black person." The couple deny they are racist, likening the suit to "extortion."

Lynsey Plasco-Flaxman, a mother of two, expressed dismay when finding out that the new child care provider, Giselle Maurice, was black upon arriving for her first day of work in 2016.

"NOOOOOOOOOOO ANOTHER BLACK PERSON," wrote Mrs Plasco-Flaxman to her husband in a text. However, instead of sending it to her husband, she sent it to Ms. Maurice, twice.

After realizing her gaffe, an "uncomfortable" Plasco-Flaxman fired Ms. Maurice, stating that their outgoing nanny, who was African-American, had done a bad job and that she was instead expecting a Filipino, according to the New York Post.

The enemy of humanity will never, ever look like this again

literally hitler
There will never, ever be another Adolf Hitler.

History doesn't repeat itself. Human behavior patterns repeat themselves, because humans are deeply conditioned animals, but history doesn't repeat itself. Anyone who says it does is confused about how time works.

Consumers of mainstream culture have been trained to watch out for the next Hitler the way evangelical Christians are trained to watch for the second coming of Jesus. References to Hitler are ubiquitous in movies, television, literature, and of course in political discourse, and understandably so; he is the clearest, purest example of evil in living memory. A genocidal dictator leading humanity into world war with the explicit agenda of totalitarian global domination is indeed as stark an example of an evil human being as you could possibly imagine, and serves as a philosophically unassailable "NOT THIS WAY" sign for our species. The saturation of our culture with that sign is why Godwin's law ("As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Hitler approaches 1") is a thing; any time you want to tell a stranger that their ideas could lead in an undesirable direction, it becomes increasingly tempting to throw up the "NOT THIS WAY" symbol that Adolf Hitler has come to represent.
