Girls' toilets in a Liverpool school have been left open after a wall was ripped down
Girls' toilets have been made "unsafe" at a school in Liverpool after the entire wall was removed, leaving the cubicles exposed. The decision has promoted a walk-out and sparked outrage from parents who have demanded a U-turn.

St. Mary's College in Wallasey is believed to have taken the drastic step of smashing down a wall to stop smoking and truancy. The Merseyside school is being blasted by parents who told the Independent they are keeping their children at home.

Tara Hodgson Jones, who has a daughter in year 11, has demanded a reverse.

A building occupied by left-wing Antifa activists in Thessaloniki was torched by reported right-wing nationalists during a massive rally in the Greek port city demanding the neighboring Republic of Macedonia change its name.

At around 3:30 in the afternoon, "a group of 60-70 fascists attacked our building with Molotov cocktails, causing its arson," left-wing group Libertatia said in a statement.

BBC may have used public funds to pay off bullying & discrimination victims

The BBC is facing calls for an external audit after it was claimed the broadcaster may have used taxpayer funds to pay off employees who were victims of discrimination, harassment and bullying.

Labour MP David Lammy has said he will be calling on the National Audit Office and requesting a formal inquiry into the "unacceptable" payoffs, which have reportedly used TV license fee money to pay off workers with complaints.

Lammy, a former culture minister, has already asked current Culture Secretary Matt Hancock whether or not the BBC has used public funds to deal with complainants privately. He will now ask the audit office and parliamentary committees to get answers.

Comment: These payoffs may be unacceptable (but not for the reasons Labour seems to think), but they are also inevitable. The "sexual freedom" of the sexual revolution has created new sex crimes to go along with that "freedom", which has vastly increased the power of the state and facilitated its intervention into the private lives of citizens and criminalized non-criminal behavior. Those "crimes" not only put innocent people (mostly men) into prison, they rob them of their money too. And taxpayers have to pay for the fallout of all of this (e.g., welfare, "sexual harassment" settlements). The issue is not that the agreements mentioned in the article "can be used to cover up incidents". If crimes have been committed, there are laws on the books already to take care of them. The "sexual harassment" hysteria is to blame for this trend, not any actual increase or prevalence of "harassment", "bullying" or "discrimination".

Waiting for spring? New US warship trapped in icy Montreal waterway

USS Little Rock - LCS 9
The Canadian climate is apparently too harsh for the US Navy, as one of its state-of-the-art vessels found itself trapped in ice in Montreal waterway and may spend the whole winter there before it can set sail again.

The US Navy's Freedom-class littoral combat ship USS Little Rock has been behind schedule almost from the very beginning of its military duties. Its first journey to its home port at Mayport Naval Station in Florida from Buffalo, New York, where it was commissioned on December 16, was delayed three days due to the weather.

The Central Bank of Russia (CBR) added 300,000 ounces (9.3 tons) of gold to its reserves in December, bringing the total yearly holdings to a record 1,838.211 tons, worth over $76 billion in monetary terms.

According to new statistics, Russia is currently the sixth-largest gold owner after the United States, Germany, Italy, France, and China. Analysts say if the current pace of gold purchases continues, Russia may dethrone China as the fifth-largest bullion holder as early as the first quarter of 2018. Chinese gold reserves currently stand at 1,842 tons.

Authorities in Florida are looking for a suspect they believe tried to blow up a mall in Lake Wales.

At around 5:20pm, Lake Wales firefighters began responding to reports of an explosion at the Eagle Ridge Mall next to a JC Penny retail store. Emergency services personnel rushed to the scene where they discovered that an improvised explosive device (IED) had been detonated in the corridor.

Searching the premises, the fire crew also found a backpack in the same corridor with another possible bomb. Authorities then cleared the mall. No injuries were reported as a result of the explosion but the parts of the building were damaged.

Police said they are searching for a middle aged, caucasian male. The "person of interest" is of heavy build, and was wearing a grey shirt and grey hat. Polk County Sheriff's Office, the State Fire Marshall, and the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office Bomb Squad are on the scene.

Las Vegas shooter motive remains a mystery, but began to act 'strangely' leading up to carnage, girlfriend says

Las Vegas resident Nancy Cooley signs a Vegas Strong banner honoring the victims of a mass shooting in Las Vegas on Oct. 5, 2017.
Stephen Paddock gambled large sums of money, kept child pornography on his computer and purchased more than 55 weapons in the year leading up to the largest mass shooting in modern American history.

On Friday, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department released an 81-page report that revealed fresh insights into the behaviors and patterns of Paddock prior to the night he opened fire from his 32nd floor room at the Mandalay Bay on Oct. 1, killing 58 people. In all, 871 people were injured, with 422 suffering gunshot wounds.

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo - holding his first news conference since mid-October - said he hoped the report would help answer some lingering questions that have given extended life to a variety of conspiracy theories that included the rumor of the massacre being tied to Islamic State or terrorism.

Comment: If this is what the report has to offer, it really hasn't cleared anything up. That he looked out the windows, was a "germaphobe", had a strong reaction to smells, was into kiddie-porn... all this does is paint a picture of a lone gunman who was kind of odd. There's still little to go on to determine motive.
