The Feminist Seduction of Western Society

jordan peterson cathy newman
On January 16th the UK's Channel 4 News uploaded its now-infamous interview between psychologist Jordan Peterson and newscaster Cathy Newman, treating viewers to a morbid yet fascinating display of feminist ideology careening face-first into the brick wall of reality. Scott Adams reckons Newman effectively hallucinated about 12 times as her ideology-warped mind became incapable of processing a word Jordan Peterson was saying.

Public response came fast and furious, with people overwhelmingly mortified by Newman's inquisitorial display, shocked by witnessing the 'pleasant' face of feminism transform into Medusa-like destruction, yet glad to see feminism taken apart on a mainstream platform by Peterson's rational and eloquent debating style.

Unable to 'win' the debate with Peterson, Newman and her allies in the liberal spectrum nevertheless eked out a 'victory' by casting themselves as victims and Peterson's supporters as "vicious misogynists". To protect their ideological beliefs, the situation was spun into its exact opposite, when clearly it was Newman and her ilk who are misandrists bent on victimizing men. 'Security experts' were brought in to add a veneer of truth to their spin. No verification of any actual threat has emerged - not against Newman or Channel 4 anyway, though some were leveled at Peterson and his followers.

Radical Leftist Ideologues: Finding Racism Where There is None

Black lives matter
A couple of weeks ago the latest in the sequence of apparently interminable 'social justice furors' erupted on social media, this time over the design on an item of clothing sold by South African branches of Swedish multi-national clothing-retail company H&M.

Given that these days the 'real' media gets most of its material from social media - turning many reporters into FB and Twitter addicts and FB and Twitter users into attention-seeking drama queens - it wasn't long before the story had reached far more people than it ever should have.

In the process of making this non-story into something akin to an international scandal however, something very disturbing was revealed. But let's not get ahead of ourselves.

The offending clothing item was a child's hoodie, one of a small collection, all of which were 'jungle themed'. Here's an example:

H&M hoodie racist
Horrible, isn't it. I mean, what kind of deviant mind could come up with this? Oh, wait, that's not the problem hoodie, this is it:

Monkey-hoodie-HM1
NOW can you see how horrific this is? Oh, wait, I think I forgot something.

Australia Day: Change the Date? Absolutely

australia day

"Throw another shrimp on the barbie!"
An issue swirling around Australia's national holiday over the last few years has been the movement to 'Change The Date'. To summarise the issue, it's that Australia's indigenous population considers celebrating today, January 26th - the anniversary of the British First Fleet officially beginning the British Empire's colonisation of New Holland/Gondwana, called 'Invasion Day' or 'Survival Day' by many Aussie Aboriginals - to be offensive.

This issue is really about two things: Aboriginals' valid historical grievance over the mass-murder and expropriation that accompanied British colonisation. Like Native Americans reluctant to celebrate Columbus Day, it's understandable that Aboriginals don't feel like throwing a party on January 26th. And the rest of the population isn't too attached to the date either: Australia has had many 'national holidays' and only settled on today's date in 1994.

Aboriginal protests against that date began shortly thereafter, but it's only recently that secondary issues have been grafted onto what is really just a request for a change of date, with the usual suspects from campuses and leftist organizations vigorously rubbing salt into the historical wound in an attempt to convince the indigenous population to weaponise their victimisation and strike at the heart of White GuiltTM, in the hopes of accruing power and wealth to themselves. They really couldn't care less about the Aboriginals, but they'll appropriate their cause, thank you very much.

Federal prisoner caught sneaking back into Texas prison with booze, tobacco, snacks & home-cooked food

An inmate from Dallas was busted this week sneaking out of a federal prison in Beaumont to get snacks, alcohol, tobacco and cooked food to take back into the facility.

Sheriff's deputies in Jefferson County learned recently that inmates were going out the back of the prison to neighboring land owned by a rancher and picking up contraband.

Deputies and U.S. marshals were lying in wait around 5:45 p.m. Wednesday and watched as someone drove a vehicle onto the property and left a large duffel bag.

At 7:30 p.m., an inmate left the prison grounds and picked up the bag. Deputies arrested the man - identified as Joshua Randall Hansen, 27, of Dallas - as he headed back to the prison.

An unfortunate trend in modern communication: Why can't people hear what Jordan Peterson is saying?

A British broadcaster doggedly tried to put words into the academic's mouth.

My first introduction to Jordan B. Peterson, a University of Toronto clinical psychologist, came by way of an interview that began trending on social media last week. Peterson was pressed by the British journalist Cathy Newman to explain several of his controversial views. But what struck me, far more than any position he took, was the method his interviewer employed. It was the most prominent, striking example I've seen yet of an unfortunate trend in modern communication.

First, a person says something. Then, another person restates what they purportedly said so as to make it seem as if their view is as offensive, hostile, or absurd.

High taxes cause mass exits from Democratic states

One reason Democrats seem so fixated on importing illegal immigrants and allowing their children to stay and become citizens may be the exodus from high-tax and traditionally Democratic states.

Anecdotal evidence is usually not helpful in determining trends, but when stories begin to accumulate and sound the same attention must be paid.

Two friends of mine, who are longtime California residents, recently decided to move from that highly taxed state to states with lower taxes. As much as they love California, they tell me, they can no longer afford to live there.

United Van Lines' National Movers Study has for more than 40 years tracked which states people are moving to and from. This should - and probably has - received attention from Democrats.

The Washington Free Beacon has analyzed the data and found people are leaving Illinois, New Jersey (where the new Democratic governor has promised to raise taxes) and New York, among other high-tax states. Sixty-three percent of outbound moves were from Illinois and New Jersey. New York (61 percent), Connecticut (57 percent) and Massachusetts (56 percent) rounded out the top five. It is hardly coincidental that these states are mostly controlled by Democrats. Illinois, with its Republican governor, is the lone exception, though the state remains heavily blue.

British universities blocking research over fear of backlash from authoritarian Left

James Caspian plans to take Bath Spa University to judicial review
Academics say they have been forced to leave the country to pursue their research interests as British universities are accused of blocking studies over fears of backlash on social media.

As they come under increasing attack from online activists, some of the country's leading academics have accused universities of putting their reputations before their responsibility to defend academic freedom.

Speaking to The Sunday Telegraph, they claim that university ethics committees are now "drifting into moral vanity" by vetoing research in areas that are seen as "politically incorrect".

Their comments come amid widespread concern for free speech on campuses, with the Government urging universities to do more to counter the rise of so-called safe spaces and "no-platforming".

BBC slashes male presenters' salaries by 30% to address the 'gender pay gap'

Rather than increasing the pay of female staff the BBC has decided to slash the salaries of the top male earners, in a belated attempt to tackle the broadcaster's gender pay gap crisis.

Four of the BBC's top presenters - Jeremy Vine, John Humphrys, Huw Edwards and Jon Sopel - are to be the first targets of the BBC's clampdown.

It is understood that under new plans being rolled out to fight off the gender pay row the that has recently dogged the broadcaster, the BBC's male stars will see their six-figure salaries slashed by up to 30 percent.

Britain's oldest broadcaster came under fire after it was revealed that of its staff who earn more than £150,000, two-thirds are male. Figures exposed that BBC male staff workers earn over nine percent more than their female counterparts.

Former Top Gear presenter Chris Evans was found to be the highest-earning presenter, paid between £2.2m and £2.25m in the tax year to April 2017, dwarfing the salary of the highest paid woman, Claudia Winkleman, who took home between £450,000 and £500,000.

The revelations led China Editor Carrie Gracie to resign in protest at what she called a "secretive and illegal pay culture," which she detailed in an open letter published in the Times.

An independent audit on gender pay was has been ordered, due to be published next week.
