South African police said on Saturday that 28 people had been arrested and one of the country's biggest highways remained closed over violent protests linked to former president Jacob Zuma's imprisonment.

Protests erupted this week in parts of KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), Zuma's home province, after the ex-leader handed himself over to police to serve a 15-month jail term for contempt of court.

On Friday, the high court dismissed Zuma's application to have his arrest overturned in a case that has been seen as a test of the post-apartheid nation's rule of law. An hour before the ruling, a Reuters photographer saw a group of protesters shouting "Zuma!" burning tyres and blocking a road.

Rasmussen Reports, one of the country's most reliable pollsters, found 58 percent of likely voters agree "the media are truly the enemy of the people."

Which means 42 percent of Americans are stupid.

The question doesn't mince words. Straight out, people were asked: "Do you agree or disagree with this statement: The media 'are truly the enemy of the people?'"

Thirty-four percent strongly agreed, 24 percent somewhat agreed, 13 percent somewhat disagreed, and 23 percent strongly disagreed.

Allow me to reframe this for emphasis...

Removal of Confederate statue in Charlottesville causes division, with protesters calling it an erasure of history

The removal of a statue of Confederate General Robert E. Lee in Charlottesville polarized Americans on Saturday, as the United States continues to take down monuments that are now deemed too controversial.

In 2017, the proposed removal of the statue led to the infamous Charlottesville Unite the Right rally, during which a protester against the event was killed during a car attack.

Now, nearly four years after the rally, Charlottesville, Virginia has taken down the statue, with Mayor Nikuyah Walker calling it "one small step closer" to making the US "grapple with the sin of being willing to destroy Black people for economic gain."

The removal was praised by some Americans, who called it "a great change" and called for the statue to be put in a museum or melted "into copper piping for a toilet." One person even called for the Confederate flag to be banned next.

Mogadishu car bombing kills at least nine people, says official

Security forces and civilians gather near the wreckage of the attack in Mogadishu on Saturday.
A suicide car bomb targeting a government convoy exploded at a busy junction in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, killing at least nine people and injuring eight others, a health official said.

The convoy was carrying a senior police official, Farhan Mohamud, who survived the attack on Saturday, the government news agency reported.

Al-Shabaab, which wants to overthrow the government and impose its strict interpretation of Islamic sharia law, has claimed responsibility for the attack.

Dr Mohamed Nur, at the Medina hospital, told reporters that the toll reflected only the dead and wounded who were taken to the facility in Mogadishu where he works.

"I am sure the number is bigger as some of the victims were rushed to other hospitals, such as the privately owned ones," he said.

"The commissioner is unharmed but there are other casualties the attack inflicted," said Somali police spokesperson Sadiiq Dudishe.

He said the bomber, using an explosive-laden vehicle, struck the convoy of Mohamud, the Banadir regional police commissioner, at a busy intersection in the capital.

Arizona governor signs bill banning CRT in public schools, state agencies

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey
Arizona governor Doug Ducey (R.) announced Friday that he signed a bill blocking state-run schools and government entities from requiring training in critical race theory.

Ducey, a Republican, said in a statement after signing House Bill 2906 that CRT suggests that people are "inherently racist, sexist or oppressive, whether consciously or unconsciously," according to FOX 10 of Phoenix. "Here in Arizona, we're going to continue to be leaders on civics education and teach important lessons about our nation's history," Ducey said.

He also signed House Bill 2035, which calls for curriculum transparency so that parents can monitor what their children are being taught, particularly in controversial areas such as sex education. "Parents should have the right to know what their children are learning in school," Ducey wrote.

NYC: Israeli-trained NYPD is charging pro Palestinian protesters with bogus "hate crimes'

arrested

The NYPD has a message for New Yorkers: don't criticize Israel in their city.

Last May, demonstrators took to the streets of New York to protest the slaughter and ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.

They are now suffering selective prosecution at the hands of the ostensibly American NYPD, who are not only trained by the Israeli government, but even have an official branch in Tel Aviv.

Since June, multiple protesters have been arrested for "hate crimes" related to anti-Israel protests. The main crime appears to be public expressions of outrage at the Jewish state's violent and genocidal policies.

In one viral video during May 20th demonstrations, a man lit a firecracker that Jews and Israeli propagandists on social media claimed was a bomb.

Comment: The end of tolerance and the beginning of tyranny has been seamless and now rising to new levels. The time to fight back was with the first slings and arrows.

Wells Fargo tells customers it's shuttering all personal lines of credit

Wells Fargo

Wells Fargo is ending a popular consumer lending product, angering some of its customers, CNBC has learned.

The bank is shutting down all existing personal lines of credit in coming weeks and has stopped offering the product, according to customer letters reviewed by CNBC.

The revolving credit lines, which typically let users borrow $3,000 to $100,000, were pitched as a way to consolidate higher-interest credit card debt, pay for home renovations or avoid overdraft fees on linked checking accounts.

"Wells Fargo recently reviewed its product offerings and decided to discontinue offering new Personal and Portfolio line of credit accounts and close all existing accounts," the bank said in the six-page letter. The move would let the bank focus on credit cards and personal loans, it said.

Scientific American goes to war against Truth: On Evolution and Racism

darwin descent of man book spine
Given evolution's racist baggage, you might think the theory's proponents would be somewhat abashed to accuse the critics of Darwin of "white supremacy." Apparently not. Writing in Scientific American, Allison Hopper goes there: "Denial of Evolution Is a Form of White Supremacy." Who is Allison Hopper? She is a white lady, a "filmmaker and designer with a master's degree in educational design from New York University. Early in her career, she worked on PBS documentaries." Ms. Hopper "has presented on evolution at the Big History Conference in Amsterdam and Chautauqua, among other places." Having been handed a platform by America's foremost popular science publication, she writes:
I want to unmask the lie that evolution denial is about religion and recognize that at its core, it is a form of white supremacy that perpetuates segregation and violence against Black bodies.

Virtue signaling didn't save Lululemon - still been devoured by the Woke Monster

Lululemon did all the right things.

They launched a "Strength to Be" campaign that featured men discussing their own idea of masculinity, including gay boxer Orlando Cruz.

They pandered to the LGBT movement at stores across America.

They released an "Impact Agenda" that focused on climate change, focusing on the goal of having all their clothes be made with 100% green energy.

The company focused tirelessly on "equity" over the past few years, not only in salary between men and women, but along racial lines as well.

Why is notorious Fusion GPS attorney Glenn Simpson risking sanctions?

Glenn Simpson fusion gps

Glenn Simpson
Fusion GPS attorneys have been accused of violating ethics rules in the case they're defending against Alfa Bank. What do they want to keep hidden?

Background

In 2017, the owners of Alfa Bank (we'll call them Alfa Bank for the purposes of this article) sued Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson for their publication of false statements accusing Alfa Bank of "bribery, extortion, and interference in the 2016 U.S. Presidential Election."

As a reminder, it was Fusion GPS and Glenn Simpson who, along with others, created and spread bogus Trump/Russia dossiers to government officials and the media. This was then used to justify the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance warrants on Carter Page to spy on Page those associated with President Trump.
