A day after leaders for the Washington Metro system came under fire in Congress for its dysfunction, a train with 154 passengers aboard lost power and became stuck in an underwater tunnel outside the Rosslyn Station.

The train is one of the new 7000-series cars that the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) introduced in September 2015. There are only four 7000-series trains in service.

Do they know something we don't?: Elite's building luxury bombproof shelters

Rising income inequality, heightened racial tensions, record distrust in government, rampant corruption, a burgeoning police and surveillance state—it's a tinderbox that could be ignited by the smallest spark.

On top of that, the U.S. is undergoing a presidential election that is perhaps the biggest farce in politics ever witnessed. It is becoming obvious to all that the will of the Washington establishment, not the votes of the public, decides who runs the government.

Those who benefit from the concentration of wealth and power—brought by a collusion of government and corporate titans such as Goldman Sachs—are worried that the awakening of the 99 percent might bring mass civil unrest.

Veteran sets himself on fire in front of VA clinic

VA Clinic
Atlantic County VA
Doused in gasoline, a former chief petty officer stood outside a Veterans Affairs (VA) outpatient clinic when he lit himself on fire and eventually died nine hours later. His wife recently confirmed that her husband was upset with the inadequate care that he had been receiving at the VA facility shortly before his suicide.

A seven-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, Charles Ingram III walked nine miles from his home, past an American Legion park and a military veteran memorial, before arriving at the parking lot of the VA Community Based Outpatient Clinic around 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 19. While standing on a grass lawn near the clinic, the 51-year-old poured several gallons of gasoline on himself before committing self-immolation.

Killer cops are "justified" and return to work with no public awareness of their actions, says new study

A study revealed that cases involving one in every six deaths at the hands of police officers during the first three months of 2015 were declared 'justified,' and the officers who did the killing were quietly returned to work without announcement by authorities or reports from local media.

A project initiated by The Guardian has been counting cases involving killings of civilians by US law enforcement agencies beginning in 2015, as the federal government doesn't keep track of incidents of police killings or the outcome of investigations.

Comment: The US is under occupation and like occupation forces everywhere, their crimes and misdeeds deeds go wholly un-punished.
It is necessary to call things by their right names. The obscene regularity of police murders in the United States has reached the point where it is appropriate to speak of the police as an occupying army, whose daily violence and brutality can best be described as a war against the country's poor and working people.

Forced to act by public outcry, Europol dismantles one small human trafficking network

Human traffickers who are alleged to have smuggled Romanians into Scotland for sexual exploitation have been arrested in a Europe-wide police operation.

Eight potential victims of trafficking were rescued during four house raids in Scotland. One suspected trafficker was arrested. An unspecified number of other suspects were referred to the prosecutor's office.

Details of the operation came as an influential group of charities blasted EU member states for lacking the "political leadership and moral courage" to address the migrant crisis.

The arrests followed a joint investigation by Scottish Police, Romanian National Police and the Directorate for Investigating Organized Crime and Terrorism (DIICOT), supported by EU agencies Europol and Eurojust.

NYPD sued for kicking the wrong family out of their home

The New York Police Department got an order kicking a family of four out of their Queens apartment by telling a judge it was a drug den — but the dealers had moved out seven months earlier.

A lawsuit to be filed in Brooklyn Federal Court on Tuesday details an egregious case of the NYPD's use of the nuisance abatement law — a controversial tool in which cops are able to get a temporary order barring people from their homes without first giving them the opportunity to appear before a judge.

Seeds of increasing marginalization: Refugees who are sick with germs could spread infections across Europe

The influx of over a million refugees with already-weakened immune systems into Europe has turned migrant camps into a cesspool of disease, and according to medical experts, that cesspool could engulf Europe in a wave of deadly germs.

Migrants who have managed to travel to Europe are prime disease vectors, as they are usually dehydrated, exhausted, have weakened immune systems and are packed together in small quarters.

This environment is perfect for the spread of disease, Medical Xpress reports.

Once-forgotten diseases like scabies, measles and tuberculosis are starting to make a serious comeback, said researchers at a medical conference in Amsterdam.

Comment: Sadly, and tragically, one can easily see how the refugee problem in Europe has now been exacerbated. The ptb can now use 'risk of infection' to any number of conditions (real or manufactured) to further isolate and control the desperate refugees. The media organs do not even have to make overtly propagandistic films (as the Nazis did about the Jews during WWII) to do this. All they have to do is present stories on the news of how infectious refugees are coming towards or staying near resident populations - and watch the torches get lit and thrown.

'I am one of the hunted': Pakistani tribal leader pleads to be taken off of U.S. kill list

reaper drone
A tribal elder from Pakistan is in the U.K. this week in an attempt to get Britain to persuade the United States to stop trying to kill him. Malik Jalil, from the village of Waziristan on Pakistan's border with Afghanistan, has a role as an intermediary in settling disputes. He is a member of a community devoted to trying to keep the peace in the region, and he is sanctioned by the Pakistani government.

Malik claims he has been put on a 'kill list' and targeted at least four times by U.S. drone strikes for his role in attempting to prevent violence between the local Taliban and the authorities.

It is not only horrific that in the 21st century, a list has been drawn up of people governments want to kill; in Pakistan, which is out of sight and out of mind, only a minority of those killed by U.S. drones are even identified. Of the 2,494 people killed since 2004, only 729 have been named. At least 1,765 victims remain nameless, according to research by the Bureau of Investigative Journalism.

Comment: The US has been on a drone spree in Pakistan (not to mention Yemen, Somalia, Afghanistan, etc.) and the targets are innocent civilians! Here is just a sampling of the strikes that have occurred in Pakistan.

Why are thousands of rich people leaving Chicago and other major cities around the world?

elite big cities
The elite are fleeing major cities around the globe at a staggering rate. In fact, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that approximately 3,000 millionaires left the city of Chicago alone during 2015. The same study discussed in that Chicago Tribune article found that 7,000 millionaires left Paris, France last year. So why is this happening? Why are thousands of millionaires suddenly packing up and moving away from the big cities? Could it be possible that they have many of the same concerns that "preppers" do about what is coming?

For quite a while, I have been writing about how the elite have been preparing for the coming collapse. But I had no idea that literally thousands of them are packing up and permanently leaving our major cities. As I mentioned above, the Chicago Tribune is reporting that about 3,000 of them left the city of Chicago alone during the previous calendar year...
Millionaires are leaving Chicago more than any other city in the United States on a net basis, according to a new report.

About 3,000 individuals with net assets of $1 million or more, not including their primary residence, moved from the city last year, with many citing rising racial tensions and worries about crime as factors in the decision, according to research firm New World Wealth.

Top Russian senator proposes creation of 'Ministry of Happiness' to improve life

Upper House Speaker Valentina Matviyenko has urged Russians to set up a separate ministry that would evaluate any government initiative by the amount of happiness it brings to the general public.

Matviyenko made this proposal after meeting the prime minister and vice-president of the United Arab Emirates, Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, in Abu Dhabi.

"They have set up the ministry of happiness. They are probably the only nation to have such a ministry. I think it would be a very useful thing in Russia as well," the Upper House speaker told reporters.

"The ultimate objective of this is to make every person happy, build happy schools and provide such services to the population that makes everyone happy. The ministry is some sort of an overarching agency that studies each and every decision from the perspective of its potential to make people happy," Interfax quoted the Russian official as saying.

Matviyenko added that another benefit of such an institution is that citizens who are happy themselves would try to cheer other people up.
