Dutch prosecutor states foiled terror attack could've left dozens of victims

The Netherlands escaped a terrorist attack that could've resulted in "dozens of victims" with the arrest of seven suspects in Arnhem and Weert in September last year, the Public Prosecutor said in court on Thursday - the first proforma hearing in this case. Only three of the six suspects still in detention were present at the hearing, AD reports.

"The suspects said goodbye to friends. These suspects were on the way to commit an attack, with dozens of victims. The Netherlands escaped a major attack", the Prosecutor said.

According to the Prosecutor, the attack was to happen at a festival. The suspects discussed how they would get ready outside the festival, and then go in and commit an attack. "They also talked about tactics: how should they do it? And what to do if one of them is tagged by the police?" They decided not to walk too close to each other, and detonate their bomb vest if they police grab them, the Prosecutor said.

The Prosecutor stressed that there was never a real danger, because the police infiltrated this group and foiled their plans. "But how different it could have been. If the string had broken with the infiltrators, we might have had dozens of victims."

Several German courthouses evacuated over bomb threats

German courthouse
German police have evacuated several courthouses in cities across the country following a series of bomb threats. Authorities are securing the premises. Similar recent threats turned out to be false alarms.

Regional courts in Potsdam, Magdeburg, Erfurt, Wiesbaden, Hamburg and Kiel received bomb threats on Friday, police said.

The threats were made by email and vowed attacks across Germany.

Germany is on high alert following a series of terror attacks in the country and across Europe.

What we know so far:
  • Authorities are combing the premises of the courthouses with dogs.
  • Police said the anonymous assailant or assailants had threatened to detonate explosive devices at the various regional courts.
  • In Wiesbaden, a suspicious package was discovered at the courthouse. Police have blocked roads in the surrounding area.
  • Police are trying to determine the source of the threatening emails.

An Afghan man, who has 23 offenses in his criminal record in Germany, reportedly spent only a few hours on board a deportation flight to Kabul, but was sent back to Germany right after landing in Afghanistan.

The male in question, identified as Mortaza D., was subject to deportation from Germany after being convicted for 23 offenses, including robbery and physical assault, according to Bild. The serial offender, along with other deportees, boarded a chartered German plane packed with 100 officers, two interpreters, and a human rights activist. However, taking him back to Afghanistan turned into mission impossible.

San Diego TV station claims CNN declined its 'local view' on border wall because of reports that it's effective

border wall san diego
A San Diego television station on Thursday said that CNN had asked for a "local view" and then "declined to hear from us" after past reports from the station showed that a border wall was effective.

A CNN spokesperson pushed back on KUSI's claim on Friday, calling it a "non story" since the network ultimately didn't book any reporters from stations in the San Diego area.

"We called several local stations to book someone for a show. We didn't end up booking any of them," says a CNN spokesperson in a statement to The Hill. "That happens many times every single day. We did, however, book a reporter from KUSI for a story on immigration and the border wall on CNN in November. This is a non story."

Immigration, the partial government shutdown and President Trump's proposed border wall have all been topics dominating the cable news landscape since the shutdown began three weeks ago.

Comment: Considering CNN's propensity to decry all things 'Trump', claims that they deliberately killed any stories favorable toward his policies are highly credible. And speaking of the effectiveness of border walls, El Paso, Texas is another city that has benefited by their border wall where violent crime and drug trafficking plummeted immediately after the wall was built.

A group of flat earthers are planning their "biggest, boldest, best adventure yet," a cruise that they believe will take them to the edge of the Earth - or just see them cruising around in circles.

The outing is being arranged by the Flat Earth International Conference, with a plan to set sail in 2020.

Gun ownership on upswing in Europe as fears of terrorism and crime increase

woman with gun
Europeans are increasingly turning to guns to protect themselves against terrorism and crime. Women and men alike are becoming gun owners as a way to boost their method of self-defense against violent attackers.
Nine days after the attack in the Christmas market in the French city of Strasbourg last December in which an Islamic terrorist killed five and wounded 11, a Washington think tankreported that similar attacks were likely to continue. The terrorist, Cherif Chekatt (who was killed in a subsequent shootout with police), had previously pledged allegiance to the Islamic State of Iraq.

The Center for Strategic and International Studies, a Washington-based think tank, declared that European citizens would face a continuing "significant threat" of similar attacks: "The threat of attacks from groups like the Islamic State and al Qaeda to ... the United Kingdom and France is at one of the highest levels [since the 9/11 attacks]," adding that the number of such attacks - foiled, failed and successful - surged more than 700 percent between 2007 and 2017.-New American

The American Psychological Association goes to war against boys and men

psychologist boy shame

Psychologists treating individual boys and men for individual problems should not be basing their approach on unscientific collectivist theories.
The American Psychological Association (APA) has, for the first time in its history, come out with Guidelines for Psychological Practice with Boys and Men.

One does not have to have read the entire 30,000 word document to appreciate its thrust: "traditional masculinity" is bad for society as well as to boys and men themselves. Stoicism, competitiveness and risk-taking, the qualities we consider desirable when they result in firefighting, search-and-rescue operations, self-sacrifice for women and children (see under Titanic) and combat in the defence of the nation, are, the APA believes, "psychologically harmful."

In a section called "masculine ideology," the APA says: "Masculine ideology is a set of descriptive, prescriptive, and proscriptive ... cognitions about boys and men (academic citations added). Although there are differences in masculinity ideologies, there is a particular constellation of standards that have held sway over large segments of the population, including: anti-femininity, achievement, eschewal of the appearance of weakness, and adventure, risk and violence. These have been collectively referred to as traditional masculinity ideology." This statement seems to have been composed by someone who has to bite her or his tongue in order not to describe manly men as "deplorables."

Comment: It's little surprise that the American Psychological Association is onboard with the current war on masculinity, given they were eager to collaborate with CIA on torture in the past. It seems they have no issue with authoritarian marching orders that lead to the decline of civilization. Hopefully those who legitimately want to help struggling men, like Jordan Peterson to name one, will get through to more people. The APA is only making things much much worse.

Humpty Dumpty

The fate of all empires...
The West is rotting!
Yes, maybe, but what a nice smell...

Old Soviet joke
The word 'catastrophe' has several meanings, but in its original meaning in Greek the word means a "sudden downturn" (in Greek katastrophē 'overturning, sudden turn,' from kata- 'down' + strophē 'turning'). As for the word "superpower" it also has several possible definitions, but my preferred one is this one "Superpower is a term used to describe a state with a dominant position, which is characterized by its extensive ability to exert influence or project power on a global scale. This is done through the combined-means of economic, military, technological and cultural strength, as well as diplomatic and soft power influence. Traditionally, superpowers are preeminent among the great powers" this one, "an extremely powerful nation, especially one capable of influencing international events and the acts and policies of less powerful nations" or this one "an international governing body able to enforce its will upon the most powerful states".

I have mentioned the very visible decline of the USA and its associated Empire in many of my articles already, so I won't repeat it here other than to say that the "ability to exert influence and impose its will" is probably the best criteria to measure the magnitude of the fall of the USA since Trump came to power (the process was already started by Dubya and Obama, but it sure accelerated with The Donald). But I do want to use a metaphor to revisit the concept of catastrophe.

If you place an object in the middle of a table and then push it right to the edge, you will exert some amount of energy we can call "E1". Then, if the edge of the table is smooth and you just push the object over the edge, you exercise a much smaller amount of energy we can call "E2". And, in most cases (if the table is big enough), you will also find that E1 is much bigger than E2 yet E2, coming after E1 took place, triggered a much more dramatic event: instead of smoothly gliding over the table top, the object suddenly falls down and shatters. That sudden fall can also be called a "catastrophe". This is also something which happens in history, take the example of the Soviet Union.

Comment: The upcoming collapse, or rather the current collapse, is not just confined to the US but all the Western world. Taking a look at the signs we see this happening in various forms throughout the US and Europe. In particular, we can explicitly see the effect of social and cultural collapse in the form of the radical leftist ideology that is pervasive throughout all our social institutions; such as the APA's recent announcement as well as the disintegration of our higher educational systems. Or moves by high courts in Germany to side with Sharia law over the country's own laws or immigration policies that ultimately hurt them and their own citizens. And those are just a few of many examples.

Perhaps the only stage that hasn't yet begun in earnest is that of financial collapse - however it won't take much to tip that into full swing. Make no mistake, despite the 'normalcy' one might see in their everyday life, the ship is sinking - but you'll only notice if you've been paying attention.

UK poverty: Hungry children 'eating from school bins' - head teacher

Siobhan Collingwood said children are arriving at school with empty lunchboxes
Children are arriving at a school so hungry they are searching the bins for food, its head teacher has said.

A cross-party group of MPs has called on the government to appoint a Minister for Hunger to deal with "food insecurity" especially among children.

Siobhan Collingwood, head teacher of the school in Morecambe, Lancashire, said one in 10 of its pupils came from families using foodbanks.

"Unfortunately I've got the faces behind the statistics," she added.

The Environmental Audit Committee highlighted 2017 Unicef figures showing 19% of children under 15 in the UK live with adults who struggle to buy food.

Comment: Even following a damning UN report on the disastrous effects government imposed cuts have had on the UK most mainstream news outlets are distracted by the endless farce that is Brexit.

New Poll: US military occupations supported by far more Democrats than Republicans

democrat donkey gun
A new Politico/Morning Consult poll has found that there is much more support for ongoing military occupations among Democrats surveyed than Republicans.

To the question "As you may know, President Trump ordered an immediate withdrawal of more than 2,000 U.S. troops from Syria. Based on what you know, do you support or oppose President Trump's decision?", 29 percent of Democrats responded either "Somewhat support" or "Strongly support", while 50 percent responded either "Somewhat oppose" or "Strongly oppose". Republicans asked the same question responded with 73 percent either somewhat or strongly supporting and only 17 percent either somewhat or strongly opposing.

Those surveyed were also asked the question "As you may know, President Trump ordered the start of a reduction of U.S. military presence in Afghanistan, with about half of the approximately 14,000 U.S. troops there set to begin returning home in the near future. Based on what you know, do you support or oppose President Trump's decision?" Forty percent of Democrats responded as either "Somewhat support" or "strongly support", with 41 percent either somewhat or strongly opposing. Seventy-six percent of Republicans, in contrast, responded as either somewhat or strongly supporting Trump's decision, while only 15 percent oppose it to any extent.

Comment: One has to wonder if the democrats voting in the poll would simply oppose anything Trump initiates, without actually thinking about it or the possible consequences. This would almost be even more depressing than the alternative, that they're a bloodthirsty lot who are enthusiastic empire expansionists.
