East London gallery under fire for hosting 'neo-Nazi' art & 'Islamophobic' speakers

A London art gallery has been criticized for exhibiting neo-Nazi artwork, hosting openly Islamophobic speakers and "promoting fascism."

LD50, in Dalston, east London, is facing calls to shut down over an exhibition and a series of talks hosted by the far right or so-called 'alt-right' movement, which is known for its vehement anti-liberal stance, often favoring white supremacist views.

Last summer, the gallery, run by Lucia Diego, held a 'neoreaction conference' featuring speakers including Peter Brimelow, Brett Stevens and Iben Thranholm. 'Neoreaction' is a 'philosophy' which rejects democracy, is anti-egalitarian and embraces autocratic rule.

Solitary confinement of teens in British prisons 'against UN torture rules'- government denies the practice

Prisons in the UK are keeping teenage offenders in solitary confinement despite the government denying the practice is still in use, an investigation has found.

Young offenders institutions (YOI), which imprison 15- to 18-year-olds, are allegedly using solitary confinement, which can cause mental health issues for inmates, according to the Independent.

Prison inspection reports found that teenagers are self-harming as a result of the distress caused by recurring and prolonged isolation.

Solitary confinement could be infringing British law and Article 16 of the UN Convention Against Torture, under which governments must prevent prison officials from carrying out "acts of cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment."

Universities are the cradle of free speech, where ideologies and ideas clash, where academics and activists can agree, disagree, or be disagreeable. This is particularly true in the United States, where the First Amendment zealously guards against government surveillance and intrusion into free speech.

Yet at hundreds of campuses across the country, administrators encourage students to report one another, or their professors, for speech protected by the First Amendment, or even mere political disagreements. The so-called "Bias Response Teams" reviewing these (often anonymous) reports typically include police officers, student conduct administrators and public relations staff who scrutinize the speech of activists and academics.

This sounds like the stuff of Orwell, although even he might have found the name "Bias Response Team" to be over-the-top.

Maryland's military weapons ban upheld by federal appeals court protecting the state's gun control laws

Maryland's ban on semiautomatic and military-style weapons has been upheld by the 4th Circuit US Court of Appeals in a 10-4 ruling. The decision not only protects the state's gun control laws, but also similar ones in California, Connecticut and New Jersey.

Laws against assault weapons and large-capacity magazines in Maryland were upheld on Tuesday when a Court of Appeals overturned a previous ruling on the ban. While the 4th Circuit Court in Richmond, Virginia ruled strongly in favor of the ban, the four dissenting judges believed that their counterparts had undermined the Second Amendment.

Dissenting Judge William B. Traxler Jr. claimed his colleagues have "gone to greater lengths than any other court to eviscerate the constitutionally guaranteed right to keep and bear arms."

Children reporting violent sexual crimes are not being taken seriously by the police, Britain's victims' commissioner, Baroness Newlove, has warned.

Newlove said the authorities are failing young people that come forward with stories of abuse, making them feel like criminals themselves. In some cases, children said they were simply not believed or told that they were wasting the police's time.

"They didn't care because we were three teenage girls," a young woman said in describing how the police reacted to her call about an assault. "It's like we were wasting their time. They couldn't be bothered with us."

Twelve female victims aged between nine and 17, and some of their parents, were interviewed about their experiences reporting sexual or violent crimes.

'Plastic soup': Invisible pollutants from everyday objects contaminating world's oceans, study says

A trip to the seaside can provide beautiful vistas and a relaxing escape, but the seemingly pristine waters of the world's oceans are hiding invisible pollution from everyday products including clothing and tires, according to a new study.

The research, released by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN) on Tuesday, examined the effect of primary microplastics on the world's oceans.

Primary microplastics are plastics that enter bodies of water in the form of small particles, as opposed to larger plastic waste which is easily visible to the naked eye.

Sources of the invisible pollution include car tires, synthetic textiles, marine coatings, road markings, personal care products, plastic pellets and city dust, according to the study.

Although such pollution isn't easily seen, the report states that between 15 and 31 percent of the estimated 9.5 million tons of plastic released into the oceans each year could be primary microplastics, making them a large contributor to the 'plastic soup' clogging oceans.

Is it correct that Sweden got major problems handling the immigration? I would say yes. My grounds for claiming that is just by looking out the window where I live, inside a migrant dominated area. Almost every evening cars are set on fire and police officers are attacked by criminal gangs. But you don't read very much about it in the Swedish main stream media.

Comment: Car-fires have been a steadily worsening problem in Sweden since the early 2000s, so the phenomenon has nothing to do with the newly arrived refugees per se.

There are lots of claims about what is going on in Sweden. On one side you have the Swedish main stream media that are very close to liberal press in the United States. We do not have anything like Fox News in Sweden, so there is not any big "right-wing" media. Instead of Fox News, there is an "alternative" scene with different kind of media outlets, some more serious than others. And some of them you can claim is based mostly in fake news.

But, you wont get the whole picture from the Swedish main stream media either. And you might just as well get fooled about specific claims about what is true and not.

During a lively discussion centered on fears that President Trump is "trying to undermine the media," MSNBC's Mika Brzezinski let slip the awesome unspoken truth that the media's "job" is to "actually control exactly what people think."

SCARBOROUGH: "Exactly. That is exactly what I hear. What Yamiche said is what I hear from all the Trump supporters that I talk to who were Trump voters and are still Trump supporters. They go, 'Yeah you guys are going crazy. He's doing -- what are you so surprised about? He is doing exactly what he said he is going to do.'"

BRZEZINSKI: "Well, I think that the dangerous, you know, edges here are that he is trying to undermine the media and trying to make up his own facts. And it could be that while unemployment and the economy worsens, he could have undermined the messaging so much that he can actually control exactly what people think. And that, that is our job."

As grabien points out, the comment failed to raise any eyebrows from her co-panelists. Instead, her co-host, Joe Scarborough, said that Trump's media antagonism puts him on par with Mussolini and Lenin...

Liberal calls to boycott Trump products completely flops

With the left-wing activists aiming their ire on Trump products, they have called for a boycott of not only the product but also those shops that are showcasing any product associated with Trump. They have called on Americans to boycott Amazon for selling Trump products.

However, it seems that their call for a boycott has fallen on deaf ears as Ivanka Trump's perfume line last week has been the top of the bestseller list among all beauty products. The #GrabYourWallet campaign of the boycotters have failed in this case.

With activists losing ground on Ivanka's perfume line, they are now aiming their sights on calling for a boycott on Wegmans. The popular grocery store is now the target of activists for selling wines from the Trump Winery.

The Washington Post reported that the boycott "backfired spectacularly." Wegmans kept selling the Trump wines out of the offering. The boycott seemed to have a positive effect on the sale of the products as in the entire state of Virginia, only one Wegmans has the wine on the shelves as the others are completely sold out and are still waiting for new deliveries.

Amazon which also sells the Trump wines have also indicated that the product is sold out and currently out of stock.

I doubt any pureblood would object to the "vaccinated" being masked, but if they (the "vaccinated") still feel unsafe then maybe their problem is...
