Swedish police accused of inaction over Stockholm riot

Swedish police have been criticized by locals for allegedly failing to adequately respond to riots in the Stockholm suburb of Rinkeby on Monday which resulted in several burnt-out cars, aggravated thefts and assaults. No-one has been arrested over the riots.

Between 30-50 people were involved in the unrest which broke out at around 8pm on Monday following the arrest of a wanted person at a metro station in the area, according to police.

Police fired several warning shots when people began setting cars on fire, throwing stones and looting local stores. A police officer and a journalist were injured in the clashes and taken to hospital.

Indian teenager wakes up on the way to his funeral after relatives presumed he was dead

A 17-year-old boy woke up on the way to his funeral in Dharwad's Managundi village, surprising his relatives and villagers who had presumed him dead. He was rushed to a private hospital where his condition is critical.

Bitten by a stray dog one month ago, Kumar Marewad, 17, had high fever last week following which he was admitted to a Dharwad hospital. As his condition deteriorated, the teenager was put on ventilator.

The doctors told Kumar's relatives that he was critical and that he would not survive if life support was removed. Informing them that infection had spread in Kumar's body, the doctors left the family to decide if they wanted to continue treatment. Later, the family decided to shift him home.

A Quito-based research institute — the International Center for Advanced Studies in Communications for Latin America (CIESPAL) — decided against renewing its contract with the British security company G4S after meeting with BDS activists who informed it about G4S's complicity with Israeli violations of Palestinian human rights.

This is the first victory for BDS activists in Ecuador working to advance Palestinian human rights, and the second loss for G4S in Latin America, due to BDS pressure, in less than a year. In early 2016, another strong BDS campaign for Palestinian human rights led a major restaurant chain in Colombia to announce that it would end its contract with G4S. Notably, CIESPAL cut ties with G4S without laying off any workers.
G4S, the world's largest security company, has a history of helping Israel run prisons where Palestinian political prisoners are held without trial and subjected to torture and ill-treatment. G4S has also been involved in providing equipment and services to Israeli military checkpoints, illegal settlements, and to military and police buildings.

Comment: Israel fights off all forms of moral equality and human rights other than their own.

Medical condition of Ahmad al Khadour has seriously deteriorated while being held in Israel's Ofer detention center.
The Israeli military court at Ofer prison sentenced 15-year-old Ahmad al-Khadour to 91 days in prison and a 3,000-shekel fine (approximately $810), after the boy was accused of throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers. The sentencing came despite Ahmad's family's and rights groups' extreme concern regarding the boy's health due to his chronic illnesses -- including leukemia and epilepsy -- and frequent need for medication.

Palestinian Prisoner's Society (PPS) lawyer Ahmad Safiya said in a statement on Monday that court's judge gave al-Khadour a period of one year to pay the fine. The judge also gave complete authority to Ofer prison director to release al-Khadour before the end of his sentence, "in accordance with the Israel Prison Service's (IPS) procedures."

Ahmad, who is from the town of Beituniya in the central occupied West Bank, has multiple illnesses and poor health. He has been suffering from leukemia for the past three years and also suffers from epilepsy, seizures, foot and hand injuries, intense dizziness, and muscle contractions in his fingers. He was detained on Jan. 2 after he was accused of throwing rocks at Israeli soldiers near the Ofer military checkpoint west of Ramallah in the central occupied West Bank.

According to the Palestinian Committee of Prisoners' Affairs, soldiers violently assaulted Ahmad and beat him with the butt of their rifles when they detained the child.

Comment: It is a psychopathic nature to torture those who are weaker, smaller, sickly and especially if they are children. It is a psychopathic nature to systematically torture and genocide your neighbor. That so much of this abhorrent behavior emanates from Israel reveals its non-human structure. And, that they have been allowed to continue speaks volumes.

Government rules say benefit claimants should not lose housing benefit if they are sanctioned
Housing benefit is being wrongly stripped from jobseekers accused of failing to look for work, MPs say - threatening them with eviction and homelessness.

The "appalling situation" is condemned by a Commons committee which has told the Department for Work and Pensions to investigate the blunder urgently.

Government rules say benefit claimants who are sanctioned can be docked jobseeker's allowance (JSA) and employment and support allowance (ESA) - but not housing benefit, which they may need to keep their home.

Bavarian govt has put forward a bill proposing a burqa ban for civil servants & in public places

The government in the German federal state of Bavaria has put forward a bill proposing a ban on full face veils from some public places and for civil servants. The plan has left social media polarized.

"Covering up your face will be banned in areas of public service, in high schools, schools, kindergartens, in areas relating to general security and during the polls," the Bavarian government announcedfollowing a cabinet meeting.

The state officials now want to "quickly and legally" incorporate the ban into the state's laws. Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann argued that full-face veils go against the traditions of interaction in German society.

"A communicative exchange takes place not only through speech, but also through eye contact, facial expressions and gestures," Hermann said.

"This is the basis of our interaction with one another and the foundation of our society and our free democratic order."

Pedophilia in Britain has apparently become so rampant among the elite, that the government has issued official guidance to city councils to stop paying homage to local heroes with plaques, footpaths, and municipal buildings in case the individual is one day exposed as a child molester.

According to the official guidance, handed down from Geoplace, the local government quango that oversees the official database of addresses used by councils and emergency services, street and landmarks should no longer be named after individuals because they could later be linked to "inappropriate activities."

"It avoids the possible occurrence of future information coming to light that may then taint that specific road name based on an individual and give rise to costly street rename procedures," Geoplace said.

One of France's busiest shopping centers was partially evacuated after a suspicious package was found next to a vehicle in the outside car park, which was later identified as a couscous maker. The owner of the device has been detained.

The alarm was raised in Velizy-2, a giant mall located near Versailles, outside Paris, shortly after 3pm Tuesday.

A large part of the shopping center, which receives about 60,000 visitors a day, was shut off, with people filing outside in an "orderly" fashion. The tram link was immediately suspended.

If a regular citizen carried a gun into a store and demanded the clerk take off her clothes, they would be in jail. If a regular citizen showed video of himself masturbating to a random person on the street, they would also be in jail. However, if a cop does these things, while on duty, and is even recorded, he can laugh about it in a courtroom and not only avoid jail — but keep his job.

When Elizabeth Restrepo, a convenience store clerk in South Carthage, was approached by Officer Frank Geisenhoffer who grabbed her and demanded she make him a video of her breasts, she had no idea where she could go to report it.

"Who was I gonna to call when he asked for a video — the police?" Restrepo asked. "He was the one who asked for it."

Comment: Officer Geisenhoffer was reprimanded with a 2 week unpaid suspension.

Baywatch star Pamela Anderson told RT she wants to campaign for men who have been falsely accused of rape.

In an exclusive interview with RT's 'Going Underground', the actress and women's rights activist said a lot of men who face false rape allegations are in a "vulnerable situation" and at risk of being "politically bullied."

Anderson said her friend WikiLeaks editor Julian Assange has not committed a crime, despite facing sexual assault allegations in Sweden.

Speaking to RT's Afshin Rattansi, Anderson said: "Sweden has these very progressive laws against sexual crimes. It's almost too progressive, it's almost paralyzing. I'm going to actually start campaigning for men who have been victims of being accused of rape when they haven't actually done anything.

"We all of course gravitate towards vulnerable people and we consider that to be women and children first and foremost, which is important of course, but there's also a lot of men who are in a vulnerable situation and politically bullied."
