Overall enrollment in the nation's food stamp program has dipped to its lowest level in eight years, according to the latest statistics released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

The latest USDA data reveals that enrollment in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP)-the federal government program that administers food stamps-dropped to 40,083,954 in March 2018.

The last time enrollment in the food stamp program reached that level was February 2010, when 39,588,993 people participated in the nation's food stamp program.

Feminist scholars defend female professor accused of sexual misconduct because victims should only be believed if they are women

Feminist scholars are defending a female professor who is facing a Title IX investigation over alleged sexual misconduct in a reversal of their normal approach of believing victims.

Avital Ronell, a professor of German and comparative literature at New York University, is currently facing a Title IX investigation over alleged sexual misconduct. Astonishingly, feminist professors around the country are arguing that the investigation is unfair.

In a letter addressed to New York University's president that was signed by influential feminists Judith Butler and Slavoj Žižek, the investigation into Ronell's alleged misconduct is essentially referred to as a witch hunt. They claim that the accuser has waged a "malicious campaign" against Ronell.
We have all seen her relationship with students, and some of us know the individual who has waged this malicious campaign against her. We wish to communicate first in the clearest terms our profound an enduring admiration for Professor Ronell whose mentorship of students has been no less than remarkable over many years. We deplore the damage that this legal proceeding causes her, and seek to register in clear terms our objection to any judgment against her. We hold that the allegations against her do not constitute actual evidence, but rather support the view that malicious intention has animated and sustained this legal nightmare.

Comment: Essentially, it's all about unequal treatment based on gender alone.

US collapsing economy: 21.5% unemployment, 10% inflation and negative growth

us economy
Every time the mainstream media touts some "wonderful new economic numbers" I just want to cringe. Yes, it is true that the economic numbers have gotten slightly better since Donald Trump entered the White House, but the rosy economic picture that the mainstream media is constantly painting for all of us is completely absurd. As you are about to see, if honest numbers were being used all of our major economic numbers would be absolutely terrible. Of course we can hope for a major economic turnaround for America under Donald Trump, but we certainly are not there yet. Economist John Williams of shadowstats.com has been tracking what our key economic numbers would look like if honest numbers were being used for many years, and he has gained a sterling reputation for being accurate. And according to him, it looks like the U.S. economy has been in a recession and/or depression for a very long time.

Let's start by talking about unemployment. We are being told that the unemployment rate in the United States is currently "3.8 percent", which would be the lowest that it has been "in nearly 50 years".

To support this claim, the mainstream media endlessly runs articles declaring how wonderful everything is. For example, the following is from a recent New York Times article entitled "We Ran Out of Words to Describe How Good the Jobs Numbers Are"...

Putin awards grant to promote family values, students say talks 'changed their outlook'

Russian Faith
President Vladimir Putin recently awarded a grant for a project promoting traditional family values among Russian teens and young adults.

The grant was awarded in December, 2017, and the project involved more than 10,000 boys and girls from 102 different schools from the Tyumen region. They listened to talks about family, love, courage, and happiness, and they filled out questionnaires both before and after the talks, providing insight into their thoughts about Russian family life.

The teaching sessions went into detail discussing the importance of traditional marriage, the dangers of premarital sex, the problems with contraception, and the horrors of abortion.

According to the questionnaires, 85% of the youth believe it is unacceptable for people to freely change partners, seeking sex outside marriage with no strings attached. The majority said that intimate relations are only permissible when there are long-term stable relations between partners. More than a third of respondents held to fully traditional values on this point, with 34% stating that sex is permissible "only after the wedding".

Comment: Conversely, the feminist movement in the west has worked well to destroy traditional family values.

US House approves ban on child sex robots favored by pedophiles

The U.S. House approved a ban Wednesday on the importation and trafficking of anatomically correct child sex dolls and robots that "normalize sex between adults and minors."

The proposal was approved in the House by a voice vote and now moves to the Senate.

"These dolls can be programmed to simulate rape. The very thought makes me nauseous," said House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte, a Virginia Republican.

Child sex dolls are one niche of a nascent robotic sex industry that has generated debate about the ethics of the use of lifelike machines for sexual activity. It is a subject that turns from squeamish to outright revulsion for many when it touches on child sex dolls and robots.

"Once an abuser tires of practicing on a doll, it's a small step to move on to a child. My bill takes necessary steps to stop these sickening dolls from reaching our communities," said Rep. Dan Donovan, a New York Republican who sponsored the legislation.

Comment: What a crazy world we live in, in which the words "child", "sex" and "robot" are spoken in the same phrase.

Germans rethinking immigration policies after rape and murder of 14-year-old girl

German parliament
Germans are reportedly asking their government to reconsider its lax immigration policies in light of the brutal rape and murder of a 14 year old girl named Susanna Maria Feldman, according to The New York Times.

Feldman disappeared in May without a trace; the only clue to where she might have gone was a text message sent to her parents that read, "Don't look for me. I come in 2 or 3 weeks." Susanna's body was found a short time later, "buried in brushwood, in a secluded area, near the railroad tracks," not far from a refugee camp, with signs that she'd been raped and then strangled.

"The murder suspect, identified as Ali Bashar, a 20-year-old Iraqi, arrived in Germany in October 2015, shortly after Ms. Merkel opened the borders to hundreds of thousands of migrants," the NYT reports. "He was rejected in late 2016, but was allowed to stay in the country while his appeal was pending."

Comment: It seems that Germans are beginning to wake up to the fact that the extremely liberal open immigration policy is not serving them in any way and is actually doing harm.

What can go wrong? French government will release 50 Islamic terrorists and 450 radicalised prisoners by 2019

France crosshairs

"Four-hundred-fifty radicalised prisoners will be out of jail by 2019 plus fifty Islamic terrorists,"
said the French Justice Minister, Nicole Belloubet, to BFMTV.

She added that "There will be 20 Islamic terrorists who will leave prison this year and 30 next year".

This shocking statement should not come as a surprise for whose people who know the extreme clemency of the European countries' justice systems; as early as the previous week, a Belgian Islamic terrorist, Benjamin H., committed brutal killings while he was on "penitentiary leave," despite his known Islamic views.

"There are also simple criminals who've been radicalised during their jail-time (...) 450 radicalised prisoners will get out of prison from 2019," Belloubet said.

France, being the host of the biggest muslim community in Europe, has already suffered the deaths of 245 French nationals from Islamic terrorism.

Yet, astonishingly, the French government is not taking the appropriate measures to protect the French people from further attacks.

Not Satire! Rachel Maddow reveals shocking fact that China and Russia are "literally neighbors" with North Korea!

Rachel Maddow
Regular MSNBC viewers will be familiar with Rachel Maddow and her affinity for Russiagate speculation; but the conspiracy-happy host has finally gone off the deep end with her coverage of the Singapore nuclear summit this week.

On Tuesday's episode of her show, Maddow launched an 18-minute long attempt to prove that the person who benefited most from US President Donald Trump's nuclear summit with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un was actually Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Before she got down to the business of explaining how Putin secretly controlled Trump during the Singapore summit, however, Maddow had some very important news to impart to her viewers. This news was so important that Maddow spent the first three minutes of her segment building up to the big reveal.

With much fanfare, the intrepid MSNBC host revealed to the world - drum roll, please - the well-hidden fact that North Korea has, indeed, got a small border with Russia.

Now, of course, this was nothing that a quick glance at a map of the world couldn't confirm in two seconds, but on The Rachel Maddow Show it was truly groundbreaking information presented almost as though Maddow herself had uncovered a huge geographical secret.

Comment: Here is Rachel Maddow's full unintentionally hilarious exposition of the 'Putin plotted peace in Korea' conspiracy theory:

UN General Assembly condemns Israel for 'excessive use of force', calls for 'protection of the Palestinians' on Gaza border

The UN General Assembly has adopted a nonbinding resolution condemning Israel's use of 'excessive force' against Palestinian protesters in Gaza. A US amendment to condemn Hamas did not get enough support.

The resolution condemns Israel for "excessive use of force" against Palestinian demonstrators on the Israeli-Gaza border and calls for the "protection of the Palestinian civilian population" in Gaza. It was adopted with 120 votes in favor and eight votes against, with 45 abstentions.

The amendment offered by US envoy Nikki Haley sought to condemn Hamas, which runs the elected government in Gaza, for firing rockets at Israel. The amendment received 62 votes in favor, with 58 nations opposed and 42 abstaining. It needed a two-thirds majority to pass, however, so it was not included in the final resolution.

Death in Gaza and the corporate media's world of illusions

Gaza protestors
For several years now, I have been writing these regular blog posts with one end in mind: to help open a door for readers and encourage them to step through. I select issues, usually those that dominate western media coverage and represent a consensus that we might term the Great Western Narrative, and try to show how this narrative has been constructed not to inform and enlighten but to conceal and deceive.

It is not that I and the many other bloggers doing this are cleverer than everyone else. We have simply had a chance - an earlier one - to step through that door ourselves, because of a jarring life experience that the Great Western Narrative could not explain, or because someone held the door open for us, or more usually because of a combination of the two.

My Personal Awakening

It is easy for me to identify my own process of awakening. It began with the dislocation of moving to Nazareth and being immersed in someone else's narrative - that of the Palestinians. Then, I faced for the first time in my career as a journalist an impenetrable wall of opposition, even from my own former newspaper, the Guardian, as I tried to explain that counter-narrative. In fact, I found that the Palestinian narrative was invariably misrepresented as anti-semitism. These were dark years of disillusionment and the loss of a professional and ideological compass.
